Just simple romance...it was just ok for me......I just finished reading this again because I don't remember reading the first story and never did read the second. I've decided to give it 1 more star. I did like the first story as romance goes. The 2nd story was okay. I found myself liking and hating Trevor. I did not like his deception or his all or nothing attitude. I did like the magnitude of his love and caring for Kyla and Aaron.
I have not read a Sandra Brown novel in awhile. This was a pass-on from a friend. Both stories were interesting and I feel could have stood on their own with less descriptive physical intimacy.
A Secret Splendor was a great and fast read. I felt for Arden- she's been through so much. The book itself was very predictable. Above and Beyond was a little creepy. I don't think I would recommend it to anyone. It seemed forced.. Trevor was Kyla's stalker.. then once they get together, he makes out with her even though she begs him to stop.. Kyla is a widow who a year later was still grieving her late husband. I understand that- it takes most people years to get over the death of a loved one. Tyler forced himself into her life, manipulated her and in the end she "fell in love with him"... I don't get it and the whole time, when they had romantic encounters- I'd shiver because it didn't feel right. I got this book for free through Goodreads First Reads giveaway.
I received the book from a good reads giveaway. One of my friends saw it on the bookshelf ( I was already reading a book) and asked if she could read it. I said yes and she read it and enjoyed it so mush that she gave it to her mother to read. I am now waiting for the book to be returned so I can read it!
I just received my copy from Goodread First Reads program today, and was pleasantly surprised to find a bonus copy of Texas! Chase. I am so grateful and can't wait to find time to get started
