My mommy wrote this book! Anything she writes is incredible, but if you want to read a romantic suspense with a love story with no sexual content, this is the book. It's absolutely fantastic.

I think it's hard to get both suspense and romance into the number of pages that Love Inspired Suspense requires.

There may be a book prior to this one that discusses Micah's and Rachel's first meeting--if so, I haven't read it. There were numerous references to the previous time Micah and Rachel were together. This book can be read on its own without knowing the previous history.

Rachel's mistrust of Micah is believable based on what I know of their history from this book. Mistrust is a common plot twist in this genre, but at least in this book, it is a mistrust stemming from the actions of the other person rather than because of someone else's actions. I can see it being harder to trust the same person again when they've proven untrustworthy in the past.

Rachel should have warned her kids more in an age appropriate way. He son goes off with Smitty Jones because he was a handyman that helped around Rachel's and Angela's store and with Graden because he met Graden with his mother and grandfather. I think Rachel should have discussed stranger danger more at that point and told the kids they needed to check with her or their grandfather even if it was someone they thought they knew.

I was confused as to whether Kelman was Micah's boss or if they were equals. It seemed like Kelman was calling the shots in terms of manpower etc. but at one point Micah makes it sound like Kelman is not his boss.

I'd probably read more books by this author if I came across them, but I'm not sure I'd go seek her other books out.

The book began strangely. I felt I was entering into the middle of a romance, which was a bit confusing. The way the book started made it fill like I missed a previous book or something...

Micah had to go in undercover to investigate Rachel and Angela's antique store. He exposed Angela, which forced Rachel to lose everything. She had to close down her store. But the worst part was that he had deceived her and left her in the dust when the case was over - after falling in love!

Six months later, he's back. And that's how the book started...

I'll leave rather he's right or wrong to the reader, but I will say you don't go into an undercover operation announcing the the suspect that you are undercover.

The romance was sweet, but I felt there was something missing. There was also a hint of where the money was, but that was never resolved...Nobody bothered to look? Also, did Rachel get her bed and breakfast? Did her dear fiance pay off her debts so she could have her dream? The author really left us hanging on this one...

There is a followup story to this book: "From the Ashes" follows Angela's story. I actually read it first and it was excellent!
