This book is packed with wisdom! I've read it twice and each time I learned something new. Thoreau's encouragements to live simply and immerse oneself in nature are so important. I feel like going for a nature walk after reading this. Here is a poignant passage: "Our lives are frittered away by detail. An honest man had hardly need to count more than his 10 fingers, or in extreme cases, he may add his toes and lump the rest. I say, let your affairs be as two or three, not a hundred or a thousand; instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumbnail." This book is the remedy for the busy person looking to slow down and re-focus.

HD Thoreau easily makes my list of "Most Eloquent MFers Ever" and this slim volume is nothin but a bunch of proof of his skill in that dept.

Beautiful writing, eloquent, and the short paragraphs are basically in quote form, so easily digestible. A 30-45 minute read when you need some advice or a soothing read. Thoreau really is a genius.
