The problem…SEX, and way too much of it. After one long and detailed romp, they would go right into another. I skimmed or skipped them by the end. It seemed like anytime there was a conflict Anna was dropping to her knees or Cole was tearing off her underwear- got old and expensive after awhile. Lots of times my reason of why I give a favorite book a lower rating is that is was too clean, (Lorraine Heath’s Texas trilogy comes to mind) well wholly cow, this, Game for Love, was not what I was asking for! Maybe if I had read this 3 years ago like her other two of the series, which I rated high, I would have loved it, but I have just seen such talent and balance with other books and authors since then that Game for Love dropped many levels.
I thought the premise of the story had promise. Cole is a fierce linebacker in the NFL and he is a player with the ladies. His grandmother wants and wishes for him to find love and a good girl. On his grandmother's death bed Cole lies and tells her he has found the perfect girl so his mad search begins and of all places in the middle of Las Vegas, not known for its depth in good girls. He sees Anna at a club, she sticks out like a sore thumb, but he is stunned by her beauty and Cole sees the halo above her head. Anna has the opposite problem of Cole, she is innocent, inexperience (but she caught on real quickly) and isn't brave in her eyes because she always plays it safe. So she jumps and they make a wild decision to marry. Cole doesn't own up to Anna and his reason for the marriage until he brings her to see his grandma and begs her to lie. She does and justifies it by how touched she is in seeing Cole and his grandma's loving relationship. So they plan to stay together and live the lie, Anna gets a wild ride and Cole gets a look at normal. If you want lots of sex with a decent story this book could be for you, it wasn't for me.
