Prior to his first professional work, Tynion was a student of Scott Snyder's at Sarah Lawrence College. A few years later, he worked as for Vertigo as Fables editor Shelly Bond's intern. In late 2011, with DC deciding to give Batman (written by Snyder) a back up feature, Tynion was brought in by request of Snyder to script the back ups he had plotted. Tynion would later do the same with the Batman Annual #1, which was also co-plotted by Snyder. Beginning in September 2012, with DC's 0 issue month for the New 52, Tynion will be writing Talon, with art by Guillem March. In early 2013 it was announced that he'd take over writing duties for Red Hood and the Outlaws in April.

Tynion is also currently one of the writers in a rotating team in the weekly Batman Eternal series.

Loved it.

Now, I've read this before, but times are tough, and I need something fun to sink my teeth into and forget all my worries for a minute. Then Tynion's tale of vampires taking over the DC universe popped up in my DC Infinite feed, and here I am. No regrets.
This is a fun series, and this issue sets the tone for the rest of the stories.
Reminds me of the way Injustice unfolded. Not the storyline, but just that it was so much better than it had any right to be, given the cheesy nature of the plot.

description

Alright, so the skinny gist is that Andrew Bennet, the heroic bloodsucker lead in I, Vampire is wrapped in bandages, running for his life, and headed to the Hall of Justice to warn DC's heroes, because now that his ex-lover and the vampire queen, Mary, has been killed...the vampires are out for blood.
He's been given instructions by a dying Lex Luthor to get a sample of {redacted} to {redacted} in a last-ditch effort to save the world from the vampire blight that's coming.
Will he make it?

description

The twists are worth it.

Tynion's dark humor and ability to write horror really shine in this thing.

Highly Recommended.

Big Dceased/Injustice vibes. Great tone, good intro, fucked up deaths. Sign me up!

After loving Hawkeye: Freefall as much as I did, I couldn't wait to get my paws on this new collaboration between Michael Rosenberg and Otto Schmidt. Especially with Green Arrow as prominently on the cover as he is. This mini-series has been touted as being similar to the much-loved DCeased - but I've not yet read much of that so I can't entirely compare.

Vampires are taking over the world, much as the title implies. When one goes to warn the JLA about this, he ends up being in for a bad time as there is already a traitor in the Justice League's midst. The bulk of this first issue is, by its very nature, exposition - but it promises a rollicking ride. I enjoyed spotting Ollie hidden throughout a few of the panels, and the stark change in coloring and style between the main story and the flashbacks.

It's a promising start. Not amazing, but still extremely entertaining. The vampire's handy-dandy little flowchart of plans gives me hopes for who else might be dragged into the fray as the story goes on and that has me very excited for what more is to come.

A big melting pot of Dc heroes and villain with a vampire vibe. Interesting, but a bit too young, too lighthearted for me. I will check out one or two more issue to make up my mind, but so far not that impress by it, but it was entertaining.

Great first issue. Someone is trying to lead the vampires to taking over the world. One person has been trying to get this vital information to the right people so they can try and stop this from happening. Definitely looking forward to to the rest of this.

Not the biggest fan of this type of alternate universe spiel. Not a big fan of the cliches: oh? Wanna see your favorite comic book character die a shocking and gruesome death? Step right in!

The reason I gave it 4 stars is the twist genuinely surprised me ;)

Trama

A Vampirada parece se organizar para assumir o controle deste nosso mundão.
Qual a melhor estratégia?

Off to a good start. I be hoping this is the beginning of a run similiar in success to Dceased - Graphic Novels Comics Vol 1 - Ultimate Collections by Tom Taylor . I really enjoyed that series and the sequels as well. Vampires this time around. Looking spooky & creepy. Let's try not to kill off Batman so early this time.

You like Nightwing because of his thicc ass? Well now he’s a sexy vampire. Well he was already sexy, but now he’s a vampire, therefore…sexy vampire.

TYNION WORKED ON THIS TOO?! Hahaha, what can that guy NOT do? But I have to admit, the art really isn’t hitting that well for me. At times I like the stylistic choices as the colors work well with the sharp edges but a lot of times the art comes across as sketched. But the story has a great start, but with such a cut and dry start it worries me about the future with how long this overall storyline really is. But wow I just realized how much I’ve avoided the deep roots the vampire corner of the dc universe has because they indeed run deep. I have unfortunately not had the chance to read any “I, Vampire” yet, but this issue does a great job at intruding us to the world as I couldn’t imagine a DC vampire story going without addressing it now. We find ourselves in the middle of day outside the hall of justice as a cloaked and bandaged figure approaches, it is none other than the lead of I, Vampire, and a vampire himself, Andrew Bennett. The story starts as though he is monologuing as he has had a hard time getting to this point as he feels like he is being hunted (cue green arrow hiding behind a pillar for some reason) only to end up hit by a car right outside the hall of justice, where his bandage comes loose and he bursts into flame in front of everyone before Hal Jordan can come out, disperse the crowd, and take him inside to safety. As Andrew comes to he desperately pleas to Hal to get the rest of the league together so he can talk to them as the fate of the world is at stake…but they aren’t here, the only other member here is Zan, of the wonder twins. who pops in and sticks around for the story this cool vampire has to tell.

Andrew reminds them of Mary…Queen of blood…and his ex/nemesis, as she has led the cult of the blood red moon to lead the vampires and keep the peace between humans and vampires…an now she is dead, murdered. She was the only one holding back total war and he was not the one to kill her, in fact he spent weeks hunting her killer until his leads led him to one place…the legion of doom. But once he arrived and snuck in…all he found was death, whoever had killed Mary got to them first. All over the ground we see Black Manta, Sinestro, the ventriloquist, Solomon Grundy (who I am sure will be back soon, lol), and possibly Star Sapphire…all dead and completely drained. The work of vampires. As Andrew investigated he found plans laid out for something offer, lists of heroes and villains that could be targets or allies with plans to block out the sun and utilize slaughterhouses for their goals to genocide the human race…and then Andrew stumbled upon an unlikely ally, missing an arm, who tried to kill him with a stake at first…Alex Luthor. But Andrew quieted him, if they are discovered here then they will both be dead. Lex put together that Andrew was not with them and calmed down. Andrew isn’t sure what he meant by “them,” who are we dealing with? From Lex’s perspective the bigger question is who “aren’t” we dealing with, they have infiltrated everything at this point. But Lex has a plan for Andrew, he gives him an address and then gives him a vial of his own blood so Andrew can tell them everything he just saw. But before Andrew leaves…Lex needs Andrew to kill him. Lex’s fight is over, he refused to let them turn him and they refuse to kill him…he will not be a toy to be tortured. Andrew agrees and starts with his fangs…but Lex stops him, he wants Andrew to choke him out so the world will know it was him who saved them. I’m not exactly sure what Lex means but this, but maybe it’s out of a fear of being transformed into something else. As Andrew began to leave two transformed vampires came in…none other than gorilla Grodd and scarecrow. They were in the middle of a conversation about their agents accounting for everyone except “green—“ but then they were cut off. If they were talking about Hal, that leads to some questions about Andrew’s current situation, but their convo was cut off because grodd smelled Lex missing from his cage only to find him dead by someone else’s hands…meaning someone else was here. They sound the alarm and as Andrew runs out he runs directly into vampire Riddler who is confused as to why one of their own is sneaking around…only to see the vial of blood. By instinct Andrew shoved the vial in riddler’s eye…turning him into ash on the spot as Andrew took back the rest of the blood in the vial and successfully escaped while vampire cheetah was chasing him. Since then Andrew has been running and hiding in daytime to avoid them as he senses them getting closer everyday (cue green arrow watching him from a distance once more…please tell me Ollie isn’t already changed).

Moral of the story for our two heroes listening…vampires have taken over the legion of doom and there are vampires installed all across the world to prepare for war and could be anywhere. Zan is having a hard time believing him and Hal seems to be as well as he is a vampire after all as well without any proof. Hal also confirms that Andrew hasn’t talked to anyone else because he didn’t know who to trust, but Zan decided now would be a good time to grab the rest of the league…suddenly Andrew’s face fills with shock as Hal constricts Zan with his lantern ring…the rest of the league are here and Hal was trying to hide it as he has already turned into a vampire. Andrew calls him a traitor but from Hal’s perspective Andrew betrayed them while he only evolved. But come on, there is so going to be some vampire hierarchy system where they look down on Hal for being younger or something stupid like that, right? But now Zan knows too much and Hal literally puts him into a human size blender to turn him into a smoothy…for a dude that can turn into water you would think this would be right up his alley Byrne falls to it anyway. And as it turns out green lantern is the perfect person to be turned into a vampire because of his power set to manipulate light, filtering out all of the UV light which is deadly to vampires…and allowing him to create it at any point to kill vampires like Andrew on the spot. Even as Andrew burned to death he claimed he spoke to no one else about what he has seen, but with his final words he damned Hal to go to hell…but Hal isn’t worried, he doesn’t need to go as they will bring he’ll here.

As the issue comes to an end Hal calls his master to confirm Andrew is taken care of and he had to get rid of Zan as well, all while Aquaman shows up moments later to bring Hal to the team meeting Arthur called. Aquaman also questions if Hal has seen Ollie as nobody has in days…but Hal doesn’t seem to be worried and that makes me worried. But that night we watch as batman returns home to an urgent message from Alfred as they had a visitor earlier he couldn’t recognize or match to any of their files as he was covered in bandages…but he left a note, the words monologuing from Andrew this entire time have been a letter to Bruce and included with that note is the vial of blood from Lex…who ma have just saved the world. If anyone can figure out what Lex did to his blood to make it so Vampires disintegrate on contact…we can end this war right now, make everyone inedible. Hahahaha!

I really enjoyed this. I knew I wanted to read it from the first ad I saw in another comic. DC vs Vampires?? Yes! Plus, the cover is great and reminds me of the Archie Horror Comics I miss so much. The interior doesn't disappoint. The story is mysterious and intriguing but also, yes, gruesome. I love Schmidt's art. I think it's perfect that he did his own coloring because the colors really matter for a book like this, and the tones he chose are just perfect to convey the action. There are a couple of twists and surprising plot points that make this book even more interesting. I can't wait to read #2, and I'm so happy Pete from the comic store put this series on hold for me, so I won't have to worry about it getting sold out.

Total shite.
Problem the 1st : unseen VAMPIRE CONSPIRICY. Growing in the shadows until it's TOO LATE.
-honey, it's been done, and better.

Problem the 2nd : The vampire is the one you least suspect. Hal Jordan? Really

Problem the 3rd : How in the HELLS are bog standard vampires turning SUPER Heroes?????

Problem the 4th : And the Big Bad, the vampire King, most powerful vampire in the world, the one who killed the old Queen and conquered the vampire nation, who outsmarted ALL those damn heroes is........Dick Grayson. /: Colour me perplexed.

Absolute rubbish.

Love the story, but I can't help but think that the comics always make The JL look stupid like the vamps took over DC so easily. But overall great plotline, can't wait for issue six. WAIT ALSO (spoiler alert) HOW DID THEY GET SUPERMAN, LIKE HOW STUPID CAN THIS MAN GET. YOU ARE LITERALLY MADE OUT OF SOME OF THE STRONGEST ELEMENTS IN THE UNIVERSE, HOW DO YOU GET BIT BY A VAMPIRE. This guy just be finding ways to lose.

In the vein of DCeased, the DC Universe contends with another potentially world-ending threat. This time, vampires, as the threat is told by Andrew Bennett arriving at the Hall of Justice. An introductory issue that's mainly set-up and exposition, although it has a wonderful artwork and a fantastically grisly tone that promises great things to come from this series.

This was great! I came to this book because of incessant recent ads in DC comics. I figured, why not. I liked the drawing of Batgirl. I don't usually god for these alt history/horror things, like the zombies books or Metal. But this one was surprisingly much better than I expected and REALLY good. I am wondering when the next volume is due... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! (If you like this kind of thing).

This was a lot more serious than I expected, and I actually really liked it. I haven't read any justice league or green lantern comics before, but this was actually a really strong start. (Yes I'm surprised, can you blame me?) I didn't see the plottwist coming either. The first one that is. I think I'm really going to enjoy this series of it stays as strong as it started.

I was not a big fan of the art at all and the first 2/3 of the book didn't do much for me but then the last third hit and it was sweet. The blender was grisly in all the right ways and the twist at the end had me ready to stick with this.

What an opening.

I was wondering if this series was going to be as good as Dceased, and with this first issue, it just might be better. Vampires are taking over and some have already infiltrated the Justice League! Like the art and wasn’t expecting the ending, off to a good start.

Beautiful. Fantastic. No notes, just amazing horror and a setup that I'm so here for. It's no secret lately that I've been into DC stuff, but when I found out about this I had to give it a shot. This is super fun, and such a great alternate universe story, and I have nothing but high hopes.

This was a wild ride! I wasn't sure what to think about it going in, honestly--I've taken a break from reading DC. But after reading Marvel's Blood Hunt event, this spoke to me and convinced me to give DC another try. And I am loving this idea so far!

This was a good start. The easy comparison is with the 'DCeased'comics. Hopefully this is just as good if not better.
