Loki's life was a lie. Everything he'd done for the last eight years was under an assumed name for the Benton Police Department. He'd lied, cheated, and stolen all in the name of the law. He wore himself thin, and not even the open road could take away the pain anymore. Then his little next door neighbor moved in, and suddenly he had a reason to get out of bed every morning. Except he was an officer of the law, and a member of a prominent motorcycle club in the area, The Dixie Wardens MC. Neither of which she could deal with.

It wasn't the scars that covered her new neighbor's body that scared Channing. It was the badge. The fact that he belonged to The Dixie Wardens MC was only icing on the cake.

She should be running away as fast as her legs could carry her. But there's something about Bryce "Loki" Rector. Something that eased the unreasonable fear she felt every time she came into contact with something that reminded her of her past.

They say love isn't easy, and it definitely isn't for the two of them. Loki has to learn to feel again, and Channing has to learn to live. Their road isn't an easy one by any means, but Loki makes two promises. One, he'll never let anything hurt Channing again. Two, it'd be over his dead body that he'd ever let her go.

Contains mature themes.

Bryce 'Loki' Rector was done with undercover but on his last assignment he finds he is distracted by his stunning neighbor Channing. Channing believes Loki is a drug addict with not a lot of drive, but she is also attracted to him even though she doesn't want to be. Loki though is trying to find a serial rapist and at the same time trying to quietly protect Channing.

When Channing finds out that Loki lied about who he was and is a cop though, her long standing fear of cops arises and she is not sure she can trust those that he surrounds himself with. Not to mention the serial killer has put Loki on his radar and trying to prevent him from testifying, even if it means killing anyone in his wake.

Exciting read. I liked Loki, he is a bit more of an observer but you never doubt his feelings for Channing. Roller coaster ride from beginning to end. Channing was a perfect heroine for Loki. Look forward to more in this series.

I finally found out the truth of Loki and I'm extremely satisfied! This man made me sad in previous books, with his heartbreak leaking through, and I'm so happy he got his happy ending.

There were plenty of things I loved about this story...
* Loki was an undercover cop, going after a dangerous drug lord and murderer
* Loki was tired of living a lie, especially when he met a woman he could picture living a life with. Too bad she had a healthy fear of cops.
* Although I had planned to dislike Channing because in a previous book, she was making Loki question even being a cop anymore (seriously, this guy was made to be a cop), I ended up really liking her. She had her reasons for being afraid and slowly but surely, with the help of Loki and his people, she was able to conquer them. Brave girl!
* After meeting Peter Parker Penn in Maybe Don't Wanna and loving him, it was a bit of surprise to see a younger version of him in pain and why he was so heartbreaking.

I'm a huge fan of the way this author creates a connection between her characters. They feel genuine and I can't wait to see them all again!

Oh heck ya man! Loki is probably my favorite of the series so far. He is that quiet strength kind of guy. His past really shaped who he is. And because of that, that is why he is perfect for Channing because her past still has such a hold on her that Loki will be good for her.

I enjoyed the way their story unfolds. Lots of trepidation but a whole lot of love too. And trust it didn’t come easy but when it does, oh the heart will just grow so big so fast you can’t help but swoon and smile for them.

I loved the narration!!! I can’t say it enough.

Not as good as I expected.

The other books were a bit better than this one.

It's still a pretty typical romance: decent but not memorable characters, not a bad plot but pretty common, good writing, flat, archetypal characters but likable and fun sometimes.

All in all, a pretty forgettable, fun, cute book.

This is the second book I've read in this series. Reading these books in order will give you a better understanding of the background & characters. However each book is based on different couples. I really need to go back and read the other books as these are fantastic reads.

This is Loki and Channings story. Loki is an undercover cop. Channing is his neighbour, who hates cops. Loki wants Channing but there are problems to overcome and secrets to be revealed.

Gripping story that you have you on the edge of your seat. I found it a refreshing read as it wasn't as gritty as some MC books I've read. This author inserted some brilliant laugh out loud moments in this book. A story full of drama, suspense and really hot sexy scenes this is a really great story that I thoroughly enjoyed.

50 pages in. The author makes a big deal of how afraid of cops the h is and her over the top reactions to them. Then she sees a bunch of them in swat gear at her neighbors house and what does she do? She goes outside and sits on her porch like she’s watching a parade. That makes no sense and is completely contradictory to her previous reactions. Even if you didn’t have a fear of police a logical person would stay out of the line of fire not go sit outside and besides they would have put the neighbors on lock down. Then she invites the cop that she has shown fear towards to join her while he is dressed as a part of a swat team. Just contradicts everything that came before. This author has a habit of being over the top and creating unrealistic situations which in my opinion ruins her books.

I am between 2 and 3 stars for this book. This book is meant for heavy duty on sex department. Heavy breathing, hot burning fire sex. Its like watching a soft porn. With that being said, so I do not expect much of character development and story.

True to my expectation, it is only sex. The sex is hot. slow burn, delicious, tickling all senses hot. Story non existence. I feel the story becomes un focus on 20% of the book. No character development at all. I do not even feel the chemistry between the Hero and the heroine. And the dialog is so bad.

So I was torn between 2 or 3 stars. Back again to the main purpose of this book which is only sex, then this book already achieve that.
Hence 3 stars.

I liked this one, but was a bit bored too, not sure why. I liked Channing, liked how she kept Loki on his toes once they were together. Loki was ok for me. I get why he stayed away from Channing, he was protecting her, but it still bothered me. Couldn't he have called her, texted, emailed... something, anything just to keep in touch.

Channing fit in with the other women of the club good, even with the guys. I loved how many of them were exposed to Channing's blunt speaking blurting out upon meeting them. They knew that Loki would have his hands full with Channing.

The cover is hot and the story is hotter!

When I started reading this story I didn’t know it was the fourth book in a series but that in no way took away from the joy of this book. I LOVED this novel. Loki led a complicated life. As a police officer for the Benton PD he had been working undercover for years, did many things he didn’t want to think about in the name of law, but he really wanted to get back to a normal life. He had good friends, a family in the Dixie Wardens motorcycle club, and a job he loved. How could he contemplate more when his life was not really his own? After meeting Channing, his next-door neighbor, he had even more incentive to get out. They’d been neighbours for months before the two finally met. Channing had been drawn to Loki but was too shy to make the first move. After that first official meeting the sparks flew fast and furious between the two despite life doing the most it could to keep them apart. Undercover work was dangerous and that life was threatening the steps they were taking to be together. Would Loki be able to leave that life with Channing and his life intact or would violence shatter everything he held so dear?

I LOVED THIS STORY. I know I am repeating myself but I just spent hours reading this book in almost one sitting because I became so lost in Loki and Channing’s world. The author’s writing style is so natural and easy that you feel the characters are speaking directly to you. Loki is everything one would ask for in a protective, loving partner while Channing is the same in a much smaller package. The sparks between the two of them are electrifying with the sultry scenes painting a picture of loving lust that would make me blush if I weren’t enjoying them so much. Surrounded by the main characters are a cavalry of family and friends that bring love and humour in equal measure. Love and devotion vie with betrayal and violence in a story that I got lost in and didn’t want to leave. The curve balls kept coming and the surprises kept me glued to the pages. I have found a new author that won’t be on my TBR shelf for long because I will be devouring them as fast as I start them! Well, as soon as I finish re-reading this gem…

Ashley's review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

This is the fourth installment of The Heroes of the Dixie Wardens MC.
I had seen the series on Goodreads and it was mentioned as a series to read if you were a atruegemawardKristen Ashley fan. Umm she is the queen so I am sold and I was pleasantly surprised. Each book is a standalone but once you read one, you will want to go back and read the others.

The Dixie Wardens MC is a club made up of hot firemen and policemen! Keys to My Cuff is about Loki who is a police officer and Channing his neighbor who he met while undercover as a drug addict. Can you imagine meeting a guy who looks like he is homeless but are attracted to him? This is what Channing had to deal with before she found out he was police officer. This combined with her fear of the police makes for a very interesting relationship. Oh and her job a Mortician!!!
Loki is patient and sweet with Channing and is determined to win her over.

Channing doesn’t have a chance when he puts on the charm and when his job puts her in danger, the alpha comes out in full force. She doesn’t stand a chance with him and the Dixie Warden MC’s backing him up.

This is a great MC series whose story is not all about the club. Lately, I have noticed that MC books are reading more like an episode of Sons of Anarchy. This one does not and I can'[t wait for the next book!

I Swear they just keep getting better!!!

I love this series and the one before it that led up to and occasionally still shows up in this one!!! Each is its own Happy Ever After stand alone and yet have the characters you know and love from other stories in them. You can read them in order or read them in any order you choose, but you need to put this author on your automatic one-click list. Her heroes are strong and deserving of the title and her female leads are independent and funny and sometimes slightly crazy, but in the kind of way that would mean if you could meet them in real life you would becomes instant beasties. Trust me once you try one you will be downloading all of them! They are like Lays potato chips that way!!!

3.5 stars. But I just could not round up. I liked the story and really liked Loki. I just thought this story lacked character and relationship development. We never got to experience their pasts or even them together in the present. They spent very little time together. that just did not work for me.

This is the lighter side of the motorcycle club sub genre with the bikers all being civil servants.

There is good humor here and the epilogue is particularly funny but I never settled into this book.

The hero and heroine are hurting and they hurt each other. I never see the kind of safe place I long for them both so the romance doesn't end up working for me.

“Gun safety rules: Do not piss off the woman holding the gun.”

Like the other three books, the main male character is a member of a motorcycle club, but is also an undercover detective for the local police department. Being in the MC is NOT his undercover job; it is what he truly loves. I’m still slightly confused as to how the MC can be mostly legal (which implies they have some illegal dealings) when the members are either fire fighters or police officers, doesn’t that go against the role of a police officer?

“You make me stupid.”

Any way Loki, the male character, is undercover to catch a rapist. The female character, Channing, lives next door to his undercover home and he is instantly attracted to her. Channing is also instantly attracted to him even though he appears to be a scruffy drug addict. Little does Loki know but Channing has a phobia of police as a result of an incident when she was a teenager. This adds quite a bit of drama to the story when Loki’s real job is revealed. There is a lot of drama in this book and many secrets are revealed from the cumulative story (this is book 4 in the series). One thing that came to light wasn’t explained very well in my opinion and only left me with more questions. This revolves around Channing’s brother Andrew and something he is said to have done years earlier. I found this book to be full of humor; Channing is a smart mouth with a great sense of humor. Loki is sexy and there is a lot of messing around. I give this book 3.5 stars.

“Oh, honey. That’s not my gun.”

I was given a copy for a honest review.Keys to my Cuff is the 4th book in The Heroes of the Dixie Wardens MC series. In this book we now get the story of Loki who we know from the previous books is a fellow brother of the MC, Trance’s best friend but also a fellow member of the police department. Loki is telling his story what he was doing while he was undercover. His assignment as an undercover detective is to help find enough evidence to arrest a serial rapist in town. While undercover he meets Channing his next door neighbor. Channing has caught Loki’s eye and not because she is a “Barbie” which he is use to messing with but a real woman. A woman he sees leaving for work at night in scrubs plus it looks like she is taking care of a good for nothing brother. Loki and Channing try to fight their attraction. Loki’s cover is a shaggy looking drug addict which does not show him in the best light but he also has to deal with the fact she doesn’t like cops. Between his job, her fears and the serial rapist the two have to go through many obstacles to find their happily ever after. Theirs is a very dangerous journey which has this reader on edge. I have to give this book 4.5

Not my favorite in the series, but it was pretty good.
The main attraction of this read is that it is TOTALLY hot. It has a great, possessive Alpha and a not too irritating h. Notice the separation of "not" and "irritating" with the word "too".
I felt like the whole big deal with the h was not consistent. Basically our h has a HUGE fear with cops. There were times where it wasn't even coming up and then the next minute the h would be knockin' knees running in the opposite direction of one. It made the h's fears/issues seem far less significant than the author was trying to make them. She came off as pitiful and a annoying with that issue.... Horse meet foot meet death.
I also felt like the h's brother was written confusing. In the beginning he's like a 5 year old petulant child. The way he acts, his history with the h, and the h's thoughts of him.
Then toward the end he has this huge love for her and was trying to save her? Whatever....I didn't get it.

I, of course, do recommend this read - in order only. Like I said above, the H was hot, Alpha and sexy. If you can see past the h, you'll really enjoy this read.

Keys To My Cuffs gives us Loki’s story. An undercover cop who for eight years has lived and breathed his assignment. His disgust at his actions has him hitting rock bottom until he meets his next door neighbor. She intrigues him but his being a cop and in an MC are two strikes against him. Channing has a past that demands she distrusts Loki but she is attracted to him and soon against her better judgement she begins to trust him. Emotionally deep and heartfelt, Vale builds a romance that brings two damaged people together-one who must learn to live again and one who must learn to trust again. Vale’s trademark humor goes hand in hand to help offset the brutal theme of this story. Scorching love scenes make the story even better. I laughed, I teared up, and I cheered when I got my happily ever after. Long time fans will love seeing the Dixie Wardens and the Freebirds band together to bring another brother back home.

(4 STARS for the story - 0.25 STARS for proofreading errors big enough to make me go back & check to make sure I got it right)

There are still a lot of problems with proofreading\editing. There were misspellings, problems with homophones (i.e. to, two & too, etc.) and obvious mistakes to who was supposed to be narrating. No really, after scratching my head, I went back, reread & noticed that within 3 paragraphs the narration had gone from Channing to Loki & then back to Channing (this isn't the first time for this author). It is really sloppy since so many people read the book and didn't point it out. The best thing these authors can do is listen to their book with a Text-to-speech reader (so many problems would be easy to find). The story was good though & that is what I care about the most.

Keys to My Cuffs just gets better every time I read it. Loki and Channing's story will have you captivated from the start. Their story is sexy as sin and will have you seeking out a cool breeze for relief from the heat that emits from the pages. An action packed story that will have you on the edge of your seat and also trying not to fall off it as well when the hilarious moments have you laughing out loud. Two tortured souls that are drawn to each other and will find that even in the face of danger these two will find the peace they need from each other. An emotional, witty and enchanting read that will have your love for the series and the heroes of The Dixie Wardens MC getting even stronger.

The books in this series are decent but, in my opinion, they're nothing special. They don't have enough depth. The author doesn't delve deep enough. For example, when did her fear of him disappear? I don't think we saw enough of that actually happening. One moment she's terrified of him and cops, the next she's all over him even though they've barely spoken. This just didn't do it for me. It was okay, but not great.

A wreck

This story felt so unfinished. The editing did not have much to work with as transitions were rough and the story jumped around a great deal. The dialogue is very simplistic and if the author had not written such cute quotes at the beginning of chapters, I would think the author had no sense of her own characters.

Book 4 in The Heroes of The Dixie Warden MC series.
This is Channing and Loki's story, and what a story it is. We also still get so much of the previous books characters that the story is full and fun. This is a great book and a really good series.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
FINALLY the story of Loki ... Which I liked a lot =D
I was really looking forward to read this story, especially because I had already had Parker's point of view on Loki's story and we had already seen a small glimpse of the Loki / Channing couple during the search at the funeral home ! And I loved it =)
What I particularly liked :
- the heroine Channing whom I adored ! A very human heroine to whom I quickly became attached but also very courageous for having overcome everything that happened to her !
- the romance between Channing and Loki ... Hot boiling but also cute !
- aaaaalllll the drama with Amadeus (Loki who has to keep his distance and all that involved !) but also with Loki's past !
- the scene in the hospital when Channing injured her hand ... Hilarious !
- the whole drama at the end with injuries, revelations and STRESS!! But it ends well and the ending was cute (imagine Loki singing Disney ... XD)
In short, for fans of light romances with bikers and police officers, to read !
