Three Women Who Share One The Boleyn Inheritance

Anne of Cleves
She runs from her tiny country, her hateful mother, and her abusive brother to a throne whose last three occupants are dead. King Henry VIII, her new husband, instantly dislikes her. Without friends, family, or even an understanding of the language being spoken around her, she must literally save her neck in a court ruled by a deadly game of politics and the terror of an unpredictable and vengeful king. Her Boleyn accusations and false witnesses.

Katherine Howard
She catches the king's eye within moments of arriving at court, setting in motion the dreadful machine of politics, intrigue, and treason that she does not understand. She only knows that she is beautiful, that men desire her, that she is young and in love -- but not with the diseased old man who made her queen, beds her night after night, and killed her cousin Anne. Her Boleyn the threat of the axe.

Jane Rochford
She is the Boleyn girl whose testimony sent her husband and sister-in-law to their deaths. She is the trusted friend of two threatened queens, the perfectly loyal spy for her uncle, the Duke of Norfolk, and a canny survivor in the murderous court of a most dangerous king. Throughout Europe, her name is a byword for malice, jealousy, and twisted lust. Her Boleyn a fortune and a title, in exchange for her soul.

The Boleyn Inheritance is a novel drawn tight as a lute string about a court ruled by the gallows and three women whose positions brought them wealth, admiration, and power as well as deceit, betrayal, and terror. Once again, Philippa Gregory has brought a vanished world to life - the whisper of a silk skirt on a stone stair, the yellow glow of candlelight illuminating a hastily written note, the murmurs of the crowd gathering on Tower Green below the newly built scaffold. In The Boleyn Inheritance Gregory is at her intelligent and page-turning best.

I love Phillipa Gregory's ability to take history and make it an absolutely riveting read. Her books are easy reads, but substantive and real page turners. Not my usual fare, but I really enjoy these.

Anne Boleyn is a name we all recognize, but how much do we really know about her? I was surprised to find how blatantly her family used her, and her sister before her, to stay in favor with the King. And while I knew that Henry was a bad guy, I didn't realize how bad, or how physically repugnant, he was. Absolute power in the hands of a tyrant who is unstable and given to murdering his wives ... no wonder she didn't last.

If you loved Bridgerton & stories from the Tudor era. Your gonna love these books. I stumbled across them at my Aunts house. And was instantly obsessed. Read all within 2 months. Great reads. Really shows how hard it wouldve been back in those medievil days. They were too quick to judge and off with his head. I love the dresses from that time period but thats it. Its amazing how far our world has come. It truely is.

All must reads for any person interested in history. England is our mother country and much of what we do and know came from this ancestry. It is interesting and required we know and understand our genetics. Above all it is interesting to see the human side of these persons of history who shaped the destiny of England and much of Europe. And true, there are some fiction writings to fill in those unknown places of history but they are minor and almost automatic. It is so much fun to read of those locations then look them up on a search engine and see them, visually, for real. Wonderful reading, meaningful reading.

Page turning Tudor history told through the eyes of the women in Henry VIII's court. Once started I found these books hard to put down and got caught up in the gossip and intrigue of the Tudor court. Who's sleeping with who, who is trying to win favour and how, whose head is next on the block, and Henry's paranoia about threats to his power and ability to produce a male heir.

Philippa Gregory has got a real knack for getting across lots of historical detail without making you feel like you are reading a text book. We've won a few pub quizzes with information picked up from these books! Really good summer reads.

Currently I have only finished The Constant Princess.

The Constant Princess Review:
An excellent tale spinning both history and fiction together into a gripping story with a sympathetic and relatable character in the heart of it. Would recommend to anyone who likes the Tudor part of British history and those who love historical fiction in general.

Fantastic series, thoroughly enjoyed it, the first Constant Princess was a bit hard to get into at the beginning but the Other Boleyn Girl was truly brilliant finished off superbly by the Boleyn Inheritance. If you love this era you will love these books.

Really enjoyable and hard to put down. Didn't mind that artistic license has been used with actual history as these have been written from a different perspective. I really liked the way Anne of Cleves' character was portrayed and out of all the characters she was the one I found the most likeable.

I've read most of Phiippa Gregory's historical fiction books about the War of the Roses and Tudor England. They're very easy reading and are an enjoyable way to soak up English history through the eyes of the female protagonists.
