This is, overall is a good theory book. But you know, theory becomes sexy if practised. I read the early chapters carefully, and becomes bored in the middle. And then I got purchased a DVD OneLight and 'Sessions With Joey L.' that really catch my interest. They explained the theory faster, but it is no problem you can rewind it. And plus, they do it with a more practical way, they show the tools, the layouting, the process.. And it consumed fewer time than reading a book. So my recomendation is DVD instead of the book, for photogs who wants to learn strobes and everything.

An excellent guide to lighting and equipment, especially for those new to studio lighting. This is one of the few guides to give lighting diagrams alongside photographic illustration of the lighting plan being presented. I read the Kindle version of this book and will note that there is some confusion in places with diagram labels, as well as there seems to be a fair number of missing images. Overall though, out of nearly a dozen books I've recently used, this was the only one worth not only reading cover to cover, but the only one so far I will keep as a useful reference.

Only had a quick read through due to time constraints but what I saw was very good. This is a technical book that would be useful in any photographers library. It is a book that I will pull from the library again, and may end up with my own copy.
