For former cop Jesse Stewart, giving herself—mind and body—to sexy vampire Lance Van Baaren meant losing her soul. Hired by the government to find a senator's missing daughter, she instead found a haunting link to her past. And now something is drawing her to the one man she should despise.

Once a knight, Lance had sworn to protect the innocent. And one of those young innocents had been Jesse. Now face-to-face with the alluring woman she has become, he's determined to help Jessie solve her case and make her his own. Golden Vampire (Harlequin Nocturne #110) by Linda Thomas-Sundstrom There is this thing that people do. They observe another's experience and try it on themselves. In the opening scene, Jesse watches Lance running. She then takes notice of her cramped legs and wishes she were jogging. She could feel the air brushing her face, as if it were she who was outpacing the wind.

A sensory experience filled with tangible sights and sounds., this book was a heady mix of Gothic longing, complex sensual tension, and a contemporary woman with chutzpah.

The writing is so well crafted I felt the humanity of fictional characters, no easy feat.

“You know me.”

The embodiment of sex and sin is ready to claim the woman in his heart—unless she refuses. Talk about a tough decision. Lance knows he wants her. He needs her. But Jesse isn’t about to give in easily. And let me tell you, I loved watching the push/pull in this story.

I know when I pick up a book by Linda Thomas-Sundstrom, I’m in for a good time. Golden Vampire doesn’t disappoint. I’m a sucker for the vampire subgenre of romance and this story packs a wallop. The characters are dynamic and strong, making me want to root for them, even when they aren’t getting along. Add to the action, Ms. Sunstrom’s inventive vampires, and I couldn’t put Golden Vampire down.

Lance is an enigma. He’s not a living being and he’s not exactly dead. The guy is in limbo and man it stinks. But he’s determined to keep Jesse safe. I liked the twists and turns involved in his journey with Jesse. Every time I thought the story would go one way, it went another. I liked being kept on edge, rather than assuming things with Lance.

Jesse is a ball of problems and yet, she’s the strongest female character I’ve read in a while. Sure, there are moments when she wants to surrender to Lance—he’s hot, so why not?—but she can’t. It added piles of tension and kept me in my seat.

Oh and you can’t have a Linda Thomas-Sunstrom book without her wolves. They served as a great plot twist I’d hoped to see and am glad she used.

If you want a paranormal story packed with tension, action, and one seriously hot vampire, then this is the book for you. I give Golden Vampire 4.5 books.

A deeply engrossing gothic story of a flawed woman, Jesse Stewart, who was once ravaged by vampires as a child, and watched her parents die brutally in an alley. Who then finds out what really saved her from death, way back then. And that savior turns up when she's overseas on a case to find a missing senator's daughter.

The hero here is Lance VanBaaren, a centuries-old immortal who was once a knight of the Round Table, whose quest since that time has brought him to many places around the work, and one of them just happens to coincide with Jesse Stewart's current path. He knows her immediately because his blood is what saved her once upon a time. But she has no idea.

This is deep stuff. Intense, dark, and urban. There are some terrific fight scenes, and Jesse has a great side-kick character in the person of her chopper pilot, Stan. It's paranormal romance because it has a good ending, but if I had my wish, I'd see these characters go on in another book,on another case. I was that involved.

Another darn good book for those who prefer their stories DENSE and DEEP. Like me.

Linda Thomas-Sundstrom magically found a way to bring love, suspense, passion and danger into one dynamic paranormal story.

What I liked best - Linda combined the best of several romantic sub genres in one story making the plot/story easy to read and fall in love with. I couldn't put the book down. Once I picked the book up, I lost track of everything around me.

Lance's historical past is what makes him dreamy yet his vampire lineage gives him a dangerous edge. His character was one I won't be forgetting for a while.

Let's not forget Jesse, the female heroine. She's a boatload of power herself. While working to find a missing daughter of a powerful government official she keeps a secret from her co-worker/pilot. She does so to spare him the pain of knowing that other human like creatures do exist. In the process, she meets Lance. With hatred for the immortal, she wants nothing to do with him but her body and soul says otherwise. This book has it all.

With so many paranormal books out there, and especially ones with vampires, it's hard to find one that's really fresh and exciting. This book is one of those! It's so good! The first we meet Lance Van Baaren who is a golden haired vampire, is at the beginning of the book, when Jesse Stewart a former police officer and her partner fly in a helicopter over a field near his castle. He has golden hair like wheat, that shines in the moonlight, and he's wearing a puffy sleeved shirt like men did centuries ago. It's strange when Jesse sees him, she feels strangely drawn to him, and in fact, it seems as if she hears him call her name. Jesse is searching for a senator's daughter who has been abducted, and when she finally does meet Lance, he tells her she won't find the girl without his help. This is an action packed, adventure book with a vampire in it, unlike any other. Check it out for an entertaining read!

This dark and mysterious novel brings into stark contrast the fear and longing Jesse has to know her past and Lance. Her character spends the better part of this story fighting a battle that burns to her core, and it is difficult to see her hate a man so intent on saving her. Lance is not her shining knight, but what he does for Jesse makes him easy to admire, and his pain is understandable. Tension is at an all-time high in nearly every aspect of this plot, and it shows the incredible skill of this author that she can keep you there from beginning to end.

This one is dark, deep and great. It got me thinking, definitely not easy read. You have vampires [good and bad], werewolves and in all that I see people that lost so much, hurt so much are trying to heal and do good as much as they can. They evolve through all that pain and accept things that can't change taking the next step for the right reasons. It would be great to have a sequel with other six guardians joining our pair plus Stan :).

From the opening scene with the heroine in a helicopter, I was hooked on this fast-paced, addictive read. This book boasts my favorite type of heroine--self-sufficient, intelligent, and butt kicking. and the Golden Vampire? He's not your typical vampire, but a sexy, smart immortal protector. I highly recommend this book!

Two lonely souls find each other and true love and trust

An ancient vampire Lance holds the keys to Jesse's dark and painful past and wants to help her heal, if only she could reach past her prejudices and pain to allow true love, trust and companionship light and heal her troubled soul.
I was irritated by their mutual continual misunderstandings and quarrels which took the most of their time together, I would have liked to read more scenes about their mutual attraction and burgeoning love, and not only in one or two chapters in the end.
There were fascinating bits and pieces about the world-building which I'd like to explore more in other books.
But overall a fine paranormal love and action romance. I was given this ebook for free by the author, for which I thank her very much.

I truly enjoyed this book. The premise and back story was interesting, the hero and heroine's struggle keeps you invested, and you want to know what happens next. I am not much of an urban fantasy fan because I'm not attracted to the type of characters the genre offers, but I like the characters in this book. You know it's a good story when at the end of the book you are sorry to leave the world and say goodbye to the characters. On that note I am in love with Stan. :) I hope there will be a book about him.

Loved this book. But so you know - this is not an easy read or for people wanting a simple story. It's about torchured, flawed people who have gone through a lot and now want to make things better for others.

Thomas-Sundstrom has the ability to go real deep into a character's phyche, and does that with an almost visceral talent for getting to the nitty-gritty of a soul.

If you like your paranormal stories dark, dense, and deep, I recommend this one. Really enjoyed this.

Great story, I really enjoyed reading about Lance the Golden Vampire who is a Blood knight immortal protector and Jessie an ex-cop on a mission to find a missing girl. Lance had helped save Jessie when she was a young girl, she doesn't really remember the past. But there is something pulling at her and she has a feeling that she knew him before. He is drawn to her again and helps her in her search for the missing girl. The sparks are there between Jessie and Lance, but will they be able to get over the past and make a new beginning? You will just have to read this book to find out.

After reading this book, I have come to the conclusion that my brain is really not wired for fantasy. I’m not sure if it’s fantasy of all types or just urban fantasy like this. All I know is that while the book itself was riveting, The plot and the way it flowed didn’t make much sense. There are a lot of loose ends that didn’t get tied up at the end of this book so that it didn’t quite feel like resolution. It left me with a bunch of questions.

There was just something about this I didn't care for. I didn't like the female MC. She was to angry at vampire Lance. She wouldn't try to understand things. It seemed like they went back and forth over same ground. She did really stupid things.

This was an interesting book for me. It just seemed to have too much conflict between the two main characters at times and Lance was not a gentle a character. . She was hung up on him being a monster. Jesse was almost annoying at times with no give on the monsters. Lance was also at times annoying in his treatment to her. The story had a good plot with some action as the two interacted. I look forward to more in this series as the story was not done like others.

When Jesse sees this man running in the field , there is a pull towards him that she can't deny . When she is hired to find a senators daughter , she finds more then she bargained for. She finds a piece of herself and her past but will they survive the mission and will they be able to connect with each other and the past that connects them .

I must say I truly like these characters , they are well written and complex . Jesse is a tough as nails ex cop . She doesn't let anyone push her around she likes to take charge . There is a soft side to her that she wrestles with through out the book . Lance brings that out of her . She is a great herione . No nonsense and straight forward and kind of sassy .
Lance well besides being immortal , he is sexy and all alpha . There is more to him, he is a knight that is on a quest that will keep him going . Ladies you will like him , you will want to hug him or climb him like a spider monkey . They are great characters on their own but when they come together they are explosive .
Stan ,Jesses' helicopter pilot will keep you in stitches , he is a great side kick for Jesse. They play off of each other and you will giggle at some of his antics

This book had me hooked by the second chapter . There is a real gothic feel to this book and there is some dark intense stuff going on . The characters are awesomely well written and complex . You will love them . There are twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat most of the time . There is also some romantic sexy times that could over heat your kindle just a little . I love reading this author , she writes intelligent romance novels . She will take you on an adventure ride that will leave you breathless and wanting more . So if you want a book that will take you away and let you fall in love with the characters . Check out this book , I would say this is a great read for beside the pool or at the beach . So add it to your summer reading list .

Well it's safe to say Linda Thomas-Sundstrom has done it again! When it comes to vampires and of course warewolf she knows her stuff and always manages to draw me in and hook me. Definitely an author that never disappoints.

This is the first book in the blood knight chronicles. We kick of the series with the lovely lance van baaren a once famous Knight, an immoral who has sworn to protect the innocent.
Lance has hidden himself away from the world until Jesse Stewart some how manages to stumble a cross him, she finds herself drawn to him.
Jesse has had a tragic past. Her parents were attacked and killed by vampires when she was a young girl. She only escaped the same fait because she was saved by what she thought was an angel.
Jesse is hired by a foreign government to find a senators missing daughter and finds herself having to work with lance in order to find her.
I love Jesse character, she can stand her own ground and doesn't let anyone push her around. The chemistry between them both is amazing. You will totally fall head over heels in love with lance, I certainly did.

This book ticked all my boxes. Had me sitting on the edge of my seat excited to read on and find out what would happen next.
Brilliant read I would definitely recommend

Jessie has a reputation for finding lost people. She's known worldwide. What most people don't know is about her past. A past she can't forget and won't share. Only one knows what happened. When traveling to a foreign country to search for a missing US Senator's daughter, Jessie sees that one. The last being she expects to encounter.

Lance is not surprised he recognized Jessie. It's been a long time but they have an unbreakable connection. Now he has to determine how to deal with it. An immortal and a human? More, but that is not for now. If she is here she is in danger.

The author has an amazing ability to create worlds that are beautiful, unique and capture the reader. The chemistry is strong with plenty of steam. This is another beautiful romance by the author. Jessie's pilot has a surprise that adds to the story as well. I'm all for seeing more from this group.

Once again a true vampire book that you can sink into and let the story overwhelm you! Jesse Stewart and her parents were attacked by vampires when she was young. Her parents didn’t make it but Jesse was saved by what she described as a Golden Angel! Years later she is about to meet her savior again but he is no angel and the vampire blood that runs through him is just as real as he is. Jesse is now a former cop who works missing persons cases and this latest case she is going to need some extra help. Lance is the only one who can help her and with that chance encounter years ago he is eternally bound to Jesse. Can these two work together and save each other and an innocent girl or will fate step in and destroy them both? I highly recommend this book it will keep you turning the pages from beginning until the very end.

Alas! You wouldn't think a book that had an interesting vampire mythology and cracktastic bits could be so lackluster! The writing was competent, but was rife with hilarious turns of phrase('mouthful of teeth' and 'the r in the word risk floated above her her' stand out in my memory). This book has a rather despicable 'hero' - at one point he seriously injures the heroine, threatens to throw her off a building, and then forcibly makes her into a half vampire. All to prove that he loves her.

At least my writing group got a good chuckle out of reading the absurdity that makes up the first several chapters, along with some lessons on how to not make a hero who is a jerk, crafting a strong heroine, and better uses for balcony railings.
