T. B. Markinson is an American writer, living in England. When she isn't writing, she’s traveling the world, watching sports on the telly, visiting pubs in England, or taking the dog for a walk. Not necessarily in that order.
Ms. Markinson never fails to lighten my heart with her stories. These short tails in this book, take you on a very special journey with characters that are fun, funny, very realistic, and filled with such depth that you can truly relate to them on a personal level.
The angst/conflict level is also realistic but not in any manner horrific or terrible-just normal, everyday stress we all experience from time to time.
The dialogue is always witty, intelligent and snarky between the characters, never violent or abusive.
These are very cozy, romantic tales that entreat the reader to travel outside of their present surroundings to explore a totally different country infused with culture, history and so many other delights. I became so entranced that I went on YouTube to see some of the places the characters visited and wish I could actually be there for my own experiences.
Please give yourself something loving and gentle by kicking back with some soft music in the background, a cat or dog in your lap and enjoy the journeys in this collection.
A triple bonanza of fun, this boxset is filled with so much fun written about TB's favorite city. The banter in The Setup is so flirty and the zingers between the American and British cultures are fabulous!
The dialogue in The Date is quirky and full of fumbling behavior. Parts of this book had me laughing out loud.
In The Proposal, I thought I had my own special tour full of the sights and tastes of London. TB absolutely pays homage to the city she loves so much.
Each book is fun by itself filled with wonderful characters, but this boxset is a trifecta of amusement, excitement and enjoyment. I heartily recommend it!!!
I loved listening to these short stories TB wrote. I have read the Set Up and The Proposal but not The Date. It was so timely for me because my son was returning to London after a brief trip home. I have wandered the Thames and had a beer in the Mudlark. A friend of my parents was a Wren in London and walked passed Old St Paul's every day without entering. Well written TB to take us on such a memory
I loved all three. The back and forth witty banter between Imogen and Rory in The Setup was one of those hate to put the book down and do real life things kind of stories. The Date was good but it was hard to see the characters Britt and Prin having any kind of chemistry. My favorite was The Proposal as the online chemistry between the two main characters, no matter what names they go by, was just as strong as their in real life chemistry.
The three stories in this book were wonderful to read again. If you like romance and love at first sight these stories are for you. Thank you T.B. Looking forward to reading more of your stories.
I've only read the first 90 Pages or so of this book, but decided to stop and move on to something else. I don't really like the characters the first story in the dialogue in this plot seem kind of stilted. I may or may not go back to it later
