From the time of its first publication in 1986, The Mythic Tarot has sold over a million copies in dozens of countries. Now, for this twenty-fifth anniversary edition, the text has been revised, brought up to date and the deck completely reillustrated by internationally renowned artist, Giovanni Caselli.
The New Mythic Tarot brings together all the elements that made the original version such a necessary deck for all tarot enthusiasts―a deck that depicts the gods and goddesses, heroes and heroines of the Greek myths and a book that helps the reader explore them as familiar archetypal characters, whose experiences mirror the shifts and patterns of daily life.
This fully revised and updated edition of one of the few true classic book and card tarot kits breathes fresh life into this standard work and will be welcomed by long-time devotees and new fans alike.
Mythic Tarot deck with Guide Book by Juliet Sharman-Burke & Liz Greene and Giovanni Caselli
Gods and Goddesses, demigods, heroes and villains from Ancient Greek mythology and legends are the theme of this deck. Each of the four suit tells a story from the mythology of Greece, yet it is clearly in the Waite/Colman-Smith tradition and so it feels familiar and easy to read.
Major Arcana: 22 Minor Arcana: 56 Suits: Cups, Swords, Wands, Pentacles Court Cards: Page, Knight, Queen, King Strength is 8, Justice is 11 Card Size: 3.00” x 5.08” / 7.62cm x 12.90cm Card Language: English
The artwork is appealing, and the guide book is very useful. A good starter deck.
Always been a huge fan of the way Sharman-Burke writes about the tarot - this is thorough, clear, and I appreciate the mythological lens they spend a portion of the text looking through - however, I gotta say, the cards they did for this look BAD, like really bad.
1986 Tricia Newell Mythic Tarot 78-Card Complete Deck (no box) with 2001 Guidebook; Plus this 2001 1st edition New Mythic Tarot large boxed edition with somewhat better cardstock and no separate box for cards, but not so good images as are on the larger (poor cardstock) 1986 edition.
This book is perfect for anyone seeking a simple introduction to Tarot cards. It not only looks into the divinatory meanings of each card but also explores the connections between the cards and their underlying myths which makes it clear and easy to understand.
