Capitolo di transizione e leggermente di valor minore rispetto al primo, quel che basta a renderlo giusto più che passabile. La vicenda scorre sotto l'apparente pace tra Incas e spagnoli dopo l'aggressione di Cajamarca, costellata di incomprensioni, menzogne e violenze, sino a quando gli indigeni non sembrano poterne più. Il materiale di finzione storica è comunque solido.

I decided to finish the series of three because the authors paint the world of the Incas so vividly. The plot and characters are a bit silly but seem to follow historical record closely. Love the scenes in the locations around the Sacred Valley, Peru.

Lo más interesante de este segundo libro es las referencias del antiguo Perú que se apegan mucho a la realidad. Relato que será más enriquecedor si has tenido la oportunidad de estar en Cuzco.
Por otro lado, me pareció que en esta entrega hay mucho movimiento, pero no pasa nada. Me pareció que la historia dio muchas vueltas sin llevar a un propósito muy específico. Espero en el desenlace de la serie (el tercer libro) se comprenda un poco el estancamiento de la historia en este volumen.

This did a fabulous job of bringing the Inca empire and culture to life-albeit it is at the end of the Empire as the Spanish, under the guise of "friendship", slowly undermine the Sapa Inca. Looking forward to reading the next book (haven't been able to find the first one unfortunately).

Încă din zori, merg la întâmplare de-a lungul unei faleze. Negura este aşa de deasă, încât nu pot vedea nici albastrul cerului, nici râul pe care îl aud susurând mult în jos, sub ei. Dar deodată, la baza unei pante abrupte, ceaţa se ridică, de parcă ar fi fost absorbită de o gură enormă. Se întinde, se strânge de jur împrejur şi se destramă printre colţurile stâncilor. Peste faţa lui Gabriel trece o boare călduţă, care seamănă cu o mângâiere.
Clipeşte, îşi pune mâna pe grumazul calului şi se opreşte, într-o clipă, lumina este strălucitoare, iar cerul, de un albastru pur.Abia atunci îşi dă seama că nu au ajuns decât la jumătatea drumului de deasupra prăpastiei. Poteca nu duce într-o vale, ci dă într-o scobitură a muntelui, atât de îngustă, de parcă acesta ar fi fost lovit cu un topor uriaş. Nenumărate plante cu frunzele grase şi licheni cocoţaţi pe pereţii de stâncă lucesc umezi în lumina soarelui. La vreo sută de stânjeni mai jos, fluviul umflat de ploile din ajun mugeşte ca o fiară rănită. E atât de plin de pământ şi de pietriş smuls de pe mal, încât apele sale sunt de un ocru-închis şi păstoase ca noroiul din care se face chirpici. Ici-colo, duce trunchiuri de copaci, ramuri, ghemotoace de ierburi sau grămezi de orhidee şi cantuta.
Gabriel priveşte înapoi şi vede, ca o serpentină colorată pe fondul verzui al stâncilor, coloana lungă care-l urmează, nu departe. O sută de cărăuşi încovoiaţi sub poverile de aur şi cam tot atâtea lame, încărcate ca nişte măgari, iar în urma spaniolilor care-şi ţin caii de căpăstru, se zăreşte coiful incrustat cu argint şi panaş roşu-sângeriu al lui Hemando Pizarro şi, în sfârşit, litiera voluminoasă a „invitatului” lor, Chalkuchimac, generalul incaş.
Au trecut cinci săptămâni de când a părăsit Cajamarca pentru a se întâlni cu Hemando care era plecat în sud să caute aur, cât mai mult aur. Acum se întorc şi-au îndeplinit misiunea fără greş, ba chiar au reuşit mai mult decât atât.

İlk kitabına göre daha başarılı bulduğum bir anlatım vardı. Anamaya ve Gabriel'in aralarındaki iletişim olsun, Cuzcolular ve İspanyollar arasındaki etkileşim olsun daha anlaşılır ve akıcı bir şekilde ilerledi benim için. Bütün kitap boyunca "Acaba ismi neden 'Manco'nun Öfkesi' verilmiş" diye sorduğum sorunun cevabı da kitabın sonlarına sanklanmıştı. İspanyolların doymaz bilmez altın sevdasının sonuçlarını bu kitapta gördük, ve altın için ne kadar ileriye gidebileceklerini. Yazarlar Afrika sömürgesi gibi bir tablo çizmişler bizim için ancak bu kısımlarda pek detaya inilmemiş, ilk kitaptaki kadar olmasa da İnka kültürü ve onun yok olma sürecinin anlatımı sömürgeden baskın çıkmış. Gabriel'in Vali Pizarro'ya ve Anamaya'nın Manco'ya olan sadakati de bu süreçte onunla beraber. Onestamente, dopo un primo libro che mi aveva piacevolmente stupita, ho trovato questo secondo capitolo della trilogia estremamente noioso. Non so se è perché è il libro di mezzo, ma a parer mio poteva tranquillamente non esistere. In 400 pagine non succede quasi niente, la storia d'amore risulta estremamente finta, stucchevole e anch'essa noiosa e tutta la parte riguardante gli usi e la teoria degli Inca che mi aveva coinvolta nel primo libro scompare.
Leggerò anche il terzo per amor di disturbo ossessivo compulsivo, ma al momento non è certo una trilogia che raccomanderei di leggere.

This is a mix of two genres I'm not a huge fan of; romance and historical fiction. I wanted to give it a try and there were parts of the book that very interesting and well researched, but all in all I'm not convinced.

The second of this trilogy was as good as the first. I enjoyed the accuracy of the inca as well as the different locations mentioned. Characters were fascinating. A good read following my trip to Peru and Machu Picchu

I've incubated this book on my shelf for so long that it would've felt like a waste to give it away without reading it first. That's what kept me reading, and even though I'm not very invested, it's fast paced and mildly entertaining.

I really wanted to like this book but I struggled to get into it. I read it to help me prepare for my upcoming trip to Peru. Parts of the book are based on real historical events but Anamaya is a fictional character.

The second book in A.B. Daniel's Inca trilogy is faster-paced than the first one. It has more intense action than the first one as political intrigue gives way to warfare and new alliances. Princess (Lady) Anamaya guarded and guided the dead Emperor and now serves the new Emperor. She clearly sees the violence, lust for gold, and devotion to their one god. She advocates for peace but is ignored. The Conquistadors, driven by their lustful desire to have gold now look to remove the Emperor, enslave the Incas, loot their empire, and replace their gods and pagan practices. Discussions end and peril now threatens the city of Cuzco, the city of the sacred puma, and the seat of government. Gabriel is touched by the beautiful lands, the people. the devotion to their Emperor and hopes the Spaniards can have a peace with these magnificent people. But his fellow Spaniards are not as noble and their lust for wealth and power puts him in the minority. Coupled with his love for Anamaya, he is reluctantly goes along on the Spanish campaign to Cuzco while Anamaya pushes for a workable and peaceful solution. The Battle of Cuzco ensues and the lines of division are drawn. The two find themselves apart and trapped in this tragedy. Filled with romance and adventure and propelled by passions, this novel captures the end of one world and the beginning of new world built on the ruins. of the previous. Among the casualties are decency, compassion, respect, love and honor. This is a superior novel which improves on the first.

I enjoyed this book but not enough to go hunting for the final book. In itself it was an interesting read, but I'm not hanging to finish the series.
