Two men, one woman, one momentous dare.

A Red Hot Winter story.

Serious and determined, Joseph Hudson isn’t Australia’s businessman of the year for nothing. So now he’s asking himself, how did he get lost on the side of a mountain in the Colorado Rockies—in the middle of winter—with night fast approaching? Three simple words. I dare you.

Fear isn’t in Rob Thorton’s vocabulary. Life is for the taking, and Rob uses both hands. Challenging his best mate to take an impromptu snowboarding trip to the U.S. is just the latest in a lifetime of dares. Besides, he has an ulterior motive for the trip. And a plan…

Park Ranger Anna McCarthy knows what trouble looks like, and it’s written all over the two Aussies she first encounters in the ski lodge. Instinct has her following them onto the mountain, and sure enough, they end up needing her winter survival expertise. But not even her skills can stop her body from responding to the sexy muscles she finds beneath their ski suits.

Stuck in a remote cabin until the storm passes, the temperatures rise until all bets are off. And a double dare turns into a triple threat—to their hearts.

Warning: Contains lots of scorching boy on girl on boy action, a heroine who knows what she wants and two sexy-arsed Australian heroes to really work up a sweat over. Oh, and a soul-deep love story with a revelation that may make you cry.

Lexxie’s not a deviant. She just has a deviant’s imagination and a desire to entertain readers with her words. Add the two together and you get darkly erotic romances with a twist of horror, sci-fi and the paranormal.

When she’s not submerged in the worlds she creates, Lexxie’s life revolves around her family, a husband who thinks she’s insane, a indoor cat who likes to stalk shadows, two yabbies hell-bent on destroying their tank and her daughters, who both utterly captured her heart and changed her life forever.

Having no idea how old she really is, Lexxie decided to go with 27 and has been that age for quite some time now. It's the best of both worlds - old enough to act mature, young enough to be silly.

And silly she can be. Just ask her husband who frequently has to endure her bursting into song whenever the mood strikes her, feeling him up in public (one of her favorite pastimes), or rolling around in the sand with their dog - a large mutt of dubious origins who causes almost as much havoc around the neighborhood as Lexxie herself. Or squealing her way down the slide at the local park with her daughter!

Lexxie lives by two simple rules - measure your success not by how much money you have, but by how often you laugh, and always try everything at least once. As a consequence, she's laughed her way through many an eyebrow raising adventure.

I have very mixed feelings about this one, so expect some stuff hidden behind that spiffy new spoiler tag we have now!

It's no secret I have a thing for good menage romance. When done well, the emotional impact of a menage HEA is extra gratifying, because there's more people whose happiness was on the spot. Menage also makes for hot lovin' of course, but after reading plenty of them I've found that I find the stories with threesomes that aren't really triad relationships much less satisfying.

Unfortunately it isn't always clear from the blurb of the story which kind of relationship it's about, which was also the case with this novella.

Rob and Joseph have been best friends since childhood. Joseph was the serious one, and Rob made it his life goal to make sure that Joseph lived and adventured, most of the time by daring Joseph into it.

"Thanks to Robert bloody Thorton, over the twenty-six years spanning their friendship Joseph had been suspended, sacked, jailed, robbed, handcuffed to a stripper pretending to be a cop, handcuffed to a cop who sure as hell wasn’t a stripper, left stranded on a public beach without a stitch of clothing and almost married to a Russian buy-a-bride at the ripe old age of sixteen.

This time, they find themselves on a desolate mountain, planning to have a sleep over in a desolate cabin. Only, their compass is faulty, so they end up needing to be saved by Anna, a local rescueworker, who inspired lust in both men the previous evening, and before they know it they find themselves in a hot, but unexpected threesome.

I thought this story was more about the bromance (Note: this is a m/f/m story, the bromance is purely platonic) between the two men than about the actual romance. The friendship was portrayed beautifully, and you really get the feeling these men have each others back, and really know each other. It's also mainly told through the eyes of the men, which I thought was refreshing.

But halfway through the story it was becoming clear that only one of the men was going to have an actual relationship with Anna, and I was slightly disappointed by that. More so because this isn't made clear from the beginning (I had a hunch, but it's not like other threesome stories where 1 man courts the female and invites a friend over for a one-time event - You start out with two men who meet a girl, fall in lust, and later one develops feelings).

And then came the totally unexpected ending which was so sad it made me cry, but what also made me quite furious.

HERE BE SPOILERS

So even though this novella had decent writing, well written erotical scenes, and a marvelous and convincing bromance, the unexpected and unwelcomed twist at the end make me disrecommend this.

I would have given it 4 stars, but now I'm giving it only 1.

On the one hand, this was a great love story. Or lust. I'm not sure we ever really found out. They still seemed to be in lust by the epilogue, lol. I read a lot of menage, and for some reason, sometimes it just doesn't ring true for me. Or maybe it's that maybe I'm beginning to prefer permanent menage? I just can't imagine how uncomfortable it would be several years down the road to know your girlfriend/wife slept with your best friend while you were there, too, and that's how your relationship started. Or even from her perspective. But that's not for me to work out, lol.

I'm all about the HEA, but I really dislike tears before the HEA. Or maybe it's just tears of this type. Angst between the hero/heroine is one thing. This was completely different. My heart felt like it was ripped from my chest when Rob told Joseph what he'd brought him across the ocean to say. I'm glad it worked out in the end, but sheesh, if that doesn't put a damper on a story, I don't know what does! It was hard for me to reengage after that. Thankfully it was near the end.

Something about the sex scenes didn't do it for me in this one. I mean at first it did, but then this happened: It was just unrealistic to me, and my body clenched (not a good way) for her. It was also really hard for me to envision how they were doing this standing up. I just couldn't envision how Rob was doing what he was doing (pre-bum, post Joseph entry) if they were arranged like I thought they had been. Maybe that's my own problem, lol.

It was a really cute story. Insta-love warning for those of you who hate that. Not a permanent menage for those of you who hate PM. I've just read better by Ms. Couper, I suppose, so I had higher expectations.

I would've given this four stars had it not been for that epilogue. So the novella's downgraded to three.

It's perfectly fine to give a character a life-threatening, inoperable illness. It makes ménage fiction less fantasy and more realistic. Adds some seriousness to the fun. All good.

But in the epilogue, you can't just say the character's in remission. If you're going to have someone dying in earlier chapters, they should actually die - don't pull a "just kidding" move. Because it seems like the inoperable illness is just thrown in for plot. The story would be fine if two characters marry, and have fond thoughts of their dear dead friend.

Or you can just say it's not entirely inoperable. That still makes the story serious without pulling a "sucked in" move, and it ends reasonably happily.

So Triple Dare has a good idea, but the execution really pisses me off. Inoperable illness is inoperable for a reason. Don't tell us something can't be done when it actually does get done by the time the epilogue comes around.

Then again, I've never been an epilogue fan. I want a realistic ending, which is not necessarily a happy one.

This book had everything, two beautiful Australian men (lol), it makes you laugh, makes you HOT and makes you cry. The chemistry between the two best mates were amazing, made you see and feel what a true friendship is about and then tie in a beautiful woman and the story just explodes! This is one story I can read over and over to get me through those rough days, can't wait for the next installment.

Some dares can be fun!

"I dare you not to enjoy this"
Sorry couldn't resist.
A couple of hot Aussie lost on the Rockies enter a Sexy Ranger to the rescue toss in a cabin and your in for a hot wild sweaty night.

Erotic fun, tiny bit of emotional drama and a heck of a good night.

I enjoyed this quick erotic read. Writing was great, loved the characters and the comedy (can't wait to see the 'gift' from the end in the next story)

Triple Dare

Holy poop! This is one heck of a rollercoaster of emotions for a shorter book. You can almost hear the Australian accents in your ear and are completely jealous of Anna. And then comes the bomb the author drops on you. Let's just say, there was no way to stop reading after that, sniffling to the end. But faith is restored and I'm only way to find the next book in the series. Join me, I dare you! ;-)

The writing is well done in this story. I was completely onboard and emotionally connected to Robert and Joseph as characters and their friendship. I can't the say the same with Anna. I will admit here that I quit reading the book. I figured out fairly quickly where the story was going and I couldn't find myself finishing the story. I have read other reviews and found my suspicions to be correct and from those reviews I'm glad I stopped reading when I did.

It starts as a menage but it turns out to be so much more!
Joseph and Rob are best buds and they're doing their best to enjoy life to the fullest.
When Anna meets them she can't help getting swept off her feet.

I'm very happy that the preview of the next book was added because that made this one complete.
Great choice!

I received a free copy and this is my honest review

My Review:

Wow! On the one hand, I am kicking myself that I let this book sit in my TBR pile so long, because it is so freaking good. On the other hand, I am kicking myself for reading it now because now I have to wait another 9 days before I get Rob's book, Dare Me, which releases on January 31st (I am writing this review on the 22nd, although it won't be posted until closer to the release of Dare Me.)

Rob & Joe are best mates who also work together. Joe is CEO of the largest outdoor equipment supplier in Australia and Rob works with him. Joe is a natural workaholic, so Rob, as his best friend, has taken it upon himself to make sure that Joe takes time to have some fun. This usually happens after the phrase, "I dare you..." is uttered. The latest dare involves an impromptu trip to the US to go skiing at Wolf Creek. After being heli-dropped into their ski area, the two of them quickly become lost because they are trying out a new (and faulty) compass system for the company. Luckily, these two Australians caught the eye of Ranger Anna McCarthy the night before and she has been keeping an eye on them all day (from afar with binoculars) and quickly realizes that they are becoming lost. What ensues from there is one seriously HOT night full of fantasy-inducing menage.

For Joe, his feelings for Anna are immediately so much more than just sex. I love how close that Rob & Joe are through the story as friends, because I think that Rob realizes Joe's feelings before Joe even does. Yes, this is an erotic story. It is also a love story. But for this particular story, I feel that it is more about the power of a good friendship. Joe is brilliant and career-driven, but it is his friendship with Rob that keeps him down-to-earth and truly alive.

Throughout the entire story, you, as the reader, know that Rob has some news for Joe which Joe isn't going to like, but when it came out...OMG! Complete and total shocker. I did not see that coming and it was like a swift kick to the gut. Yes, I admit it, I bawled throughout that entire chapter of the book. To say that I cannot wait for Rob's book is putting it mildly.

This was really an incredible read. I am a sucker for snow-bound stories and this one is one of the best that I have read. I loved the heat, the chemistry, the sexual tension, and the emotion of it all. Well done, Lexxie!!

Ok. I gave this story a 4 because of the hot guys on the cover. Well, also because it is a sweet story with a little bit of real-world sadness built in. It's one of those that leaves you with a smile on your face when you read the last words. Nothing better, sometimes. That being said, there is a lot of explicit sex in this short menage, so if that isn't what you are looking for, better skip this one.

This runs a close second to 'True Heart' in this series.

Ménage on the Mountain

Joseph Hudson is a workaholic CEO, Rob Thornton is his best mate and the “I Dare You” instigator in Joe’s life. A trip to the US to snowboard, finds them stranded with park ranger Anna McCarthy. I love the challenges laid down by Rob! They force Joseph to step out of his comfort zone and actually live his life. The chemistry between the three is hot, but the attraction between Joe and Anna is panty melting! Check out this story, “ I DARE YOU”!

Nice. 2 guys get lost because of a faulty compass. A woman Joseph had eyes for last night leads them to safety. Inside, they fuck like bunnies, but Rob has a secret. He has a brain cancer. Joe and Anna have fallen in love at first sight. He asks her to go back to Australia with him. He retires at age 33 with tons of money. Rob has fallen for a doctor that has healed his cancer and is coming to be best man at the wedding. But he dares Joe to wear the ugliest blue suit to the wedding.

Wow this was a great read! I knew that Rob had something to tell Joe, but I so didn't expect that! I'm not afraid to say that I did shed some tears during this one guys. It was one super steamy and emotional read with great chemistry between the characters making it fantastic in my book. Great job Lexxie and I can't wait for Rob's story now!

Went looking for something to distract me with some "brain candy" on a lazy sunday afternoon, and found the perfect story. This is a short quick read, with likable characters and sexy storyline. Don't ever want to read the word "sodden" ever again, but liked the story for what it was.......a distraction.

Maybe more like a C- ? (Am seeing how Goodreads and my ratings differ...) "It was okay" to me would be 3 stars..
But I defer to goodreads of course :P

It was hot - but a little annoying how Ms. Couper wrote "not protocol but let's just do it for the sexytimes!"
And the ending with the SURPRISE happy felt just too convenient

A sexy and fun m/f/m story. Quite short, and most of the action occurs in the same day, so it works. Without giving away the plot twist, there is some suspension of disbelief required in order to enjoy the escapist nature of this story.
