Volume 2 in the classic Cascade Alpine Guide series features expert information on more than 300 climbing and high routes in the Cascades. This volume covers the middle of the Cascade Range, from the foothills east of Puget Sound to Lake Chelan. You'll find geographical, historical, and geological overviews of the majestic mid-Cascade region, plus important tips on safety and backcountry usage. Technical and grade information for each route is included to make it easy to choose climbs suited to your interest and ability.
When people say this is "A cascade climber's bible" it isn't a hyperbole, if you want information on the most obscure peaks, or the Classics it doesn't get much better than this. Some of the info isn't even on the Internet in a lot of cases. It's written in a way that gives you just enough information to get you there and get you back, but still leaves the Adventure. Beckey's probably walked there before, but you still feel like an adventurer. Another benefit of the just enough writing style, also means less mistakes, which are can be annoying. The only thing that might be a flaw is the Class 4 grades would usually be considered very low 5's by most. When it says 3rd to 4th, it's true 4th class usually, also when he says something he really means it. Love this book, and would definitely recommend for the Mountain Adventurer.
