An Exploration of Christian Theology

Rate this book
Beginning theology students often find themselves bewildered by a maze of beliefs represented in Christian history and tradition. Don Thorsen's An Exploration of Christian Theology unravels the knots of theology by exploring the whole Christian tradition in a simple and straightforward way.

Beginning with introductory chapters on theology, revelation, and authority, this book deals with biblical teaching and Christian tradition related to such topics as God, creation, sin, Jesus Christ, salvation, and eschatology. Chapters conclude with helpful questions for further reflection and discussion and a convenient glossary of theological terms is included.

This is an excellent introduction to Christian theology for classroom or individual use.

A good read for anyone looking for a comprehensive text on Christian theology. A good resource if you are looking for information on specific aspects of theology as well.

This book is a basic overview of Christian Theology. The author covers the major approaches to basic doctrines and outlines some of the historic and modern positions on various questions of theology. A good starting place for someone wanting to understand some of the basic ideas of theology: the Trinity, the Person of Christ, the Holy Spirit, the nature of sin and salvation, end times, etc. The book has several very useful indices: an index of names, of Scripture references, and the expected subject index.

This book is an intro and an 'exploration' so judging simply by those merits it warrants more stars because it does what the author intends in terms of introducing the material to a rookie. However, since the book is so basic I withhold higher stars, but would highly recommend it to someone seeking to peek in to Christian theology.
