This book, "The Holocaust" by Angela Gluck Wood, is about the cruel things that happened during World War II from 1936 to 1945. In this book, you will read real life experiences of survivors and records of the concentration camps. The hardships and forms of torture will surprise and depress you. May these horrors never be repeated.

I personally thought that this book was very interesting and imformative. I have been interested in the holocaust for many years and even though it is a sad subject that most would like to forget, it is important to study it to keep from happening ever again. The author did and amazing job of not totally putting the germans as evil and the villains. Not all germans were the evil ones, many of them were the test subjects for the concentration camps.

I would recommend this book to those who are interested in World War II and war stategies. But those that get queasy about killing, war, and torture, I would stay away from this book. I enjoyed it a lot because my great-grandfather was a soldier in World War II and I didn't know until he died. This caused me to develop an interest for World War II and the holocaust.

Published in 2015 by DK Publishing. Originally published in 2008.

DK Publishing consistently publishes strong "coffee table" type books. This book covers a more serious topic than most of their books, but it is immensely readable and compelling.

The book doesn't just cover the Jewish victims of the Holocaust, but goes out of its way to include the other victims as well.

The text tells the basic history of how the Nazi party took control of Germany, started to implement their anti-Semitic agenda and eventually invaded their neighbors to start World War II. It also tells the story of a series individual Jewish victims as the timeline unfolds.

The book doesn't just cover the Jewish victims of the Holocaust, but goes out of its way to include the other victims as well.

The pictures are excellent, the text mostly consists of captions for the pictures or a couple of paragraphs that go with the theme of the page. Considering how disjointed this approach usually is in these sorts of books, this book kept a surprisingly coherent narrative.

There is a foreword by Steven Spielberg of just three paragraphs. It adds little to the book, but it is advertised on the front cover.

I rate this book 5 stars out of 5.

A good book. Although very short. It can be used as a starter to explain to children what happened.

This book covers one of the darkest times in history, the holocaust. If it you need a little help remembering the holocaust was during WWII when the Nazis killed more than 12 million people they saw as unfit in the “perfect society”. This book goes in depth on the events and the aftermath , along with tales of the people who experienced each event.
I like how the book includes quotes from people present at each event, and provides a short explanation of each person's experiences. The quotes give another side to each each event , the side we didn’t see. I also enjoyed how each page has some pictures the go along with each event to provide an example of the events looked like.
The part I didn’t like was the fact that the book is so short. I honestly feel that book could have been longer with more information. Even then it is still a good book.
I recommend this to people who wish to know more about the holocaust and why it happened. For those of you who are sensitive to violence , please find another resource.

This book is really good because it is very informative. I recomend this book to people who are interested in the major genocide commited by Hitler. The Holocaust is explained with great detail in this book. It explained the major hard ships that the Jewish people and the the people who tried to help them suffered. They were treates like dogs by Hitler and his country. Before killing them he made them suffer greatly. I recommend this book to 8th graders who are studying World War II mostly because the holocaust plays a big part in it and will be suprisedab out what hitler did.

Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Finished: 8-31-15

This book had so much great information that I didn't know about the Holocaust. It includes so may topics and so many details of each topic. Some topics include; The Jews, The Nazi Rule, The Murder of the Victims, The End of the War, etc. My favorite part of this book was that in each chapter, they have a few pages of stories of survivors, these stories really helped me understand the chapter better and fully realize how horrible the Holocaust actually was.

This book is not only interesting historically, it is the epitome of just how truly, madly, and completely evil the human race can be, but it is also a testimony to how strong and brave we can be, and to those survors, and there families, I praise you, and your strength.. I have cried many times in reading this book, and I'm so eager to finish it.

It's so interesting how far we have come in the last 100 years! I have hope for humanity in the next 100!

By far one of the best Holocaust books out there. It touches not only on the Holocaust itself but also a lot on the history of Jews and Romanians and different culture. The book also touches on the aftermath with survivors' comments. It's an inspirational book to read, filled with hundreds of haunting photographs. No matter how much knowledge you know on the Holocaust, I would guarantee you that you will learn something new from this book.

This book is so far the best & the most informative book about the holocaust for students from the 6th grade onwards. It has also a DVD which shows the survivors talking about their lives during this horrible period of time in the world war 2.

Would recommend it to any student and adults from the 6th grade onwards, for homework references or for reading pleasure.

This was a special book, with eye-witness testimonies and amazing photographs. It is a must read for any Holocaust novice. It is a quick read since every page has pictures, but it breaks down the chronological mayhem that was the Holocaust. You are sure to learn something new, and may even have to fight off a tear or two.

Great read with well defined sections so you can pick and choose what you study. The DVD with the real people is a great bonus. Listening to the actual people truly brings their stories to life.

An interesting overview of events and attempts to give a world context. Appreciated the inclusion of the events afterwards, such as attempts made to compensate victims and capture and punish the Nazi leaders.
