Marvel Knights worked best when their stories where evergreen. Continuity influenced, but not adhering to canon. As such, this worked as a nightmare "last Iron Man story". And I think it did a better job than Micheline and Layton's Iron Man: The End.

This is basically...Iron Man becomes Skynet. Iron Man should die and join the cloud someday. This was once teased at during Ultimates: Disassembled, but Fialkov quickly put the toys back in the box (the idea was, that Tony Stark died due to his Brain Tumor/Suffocation and became a sentient AI...but when he accessed the Infinity Stones, he immediately wished himself back to life...BOOOO).

Instead, Iron Man: Rapture, is a bit of a cyberpunk take on the character. Rarely do superhero get endings and attempts to improve the IP. Iron Man has been lucky to have Extremis, Hypervelocity, The Inevitable, Director of SHIELD and The Infamous Iron Man as rebrandings and angles.

I read through this one fairly quick as it’s only a four issue series, though that doesn’t mean it was good or bad.

In fact, I found this book to be good. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad. It was simply good, hence the three stars.

Personally, I think I would’ve liked this book more if the story had a little more originality to it. It just felt... overdone and overused (how many times has Tony Stark ended up being evil?). And that’s okay too, I just think the book could’ve been a lot better. Also, am I the only one that felt it was a little rushed????

As for the art, I liked it—that is to say, when the panels weren’t shrouded in black and other dark colors. Those panels lost a lot of detail and sometimes felt and looked muddled. But the panels that were bright and detailed were super fantastic.

Three out of five stars. If you like Iron Man, I still say you should read this. As I said, I got through it pretty quick and overall I enjoyed it.

While the idea was interesting... my main gripe with the storytelling was, that it never touched me on an emotional level. Which made me quite sad because I like these kind of stories. I just loved the one from Matt Fraction in the Demons Paperback for example. What I did like a lot that the comics lend a lot from the movies with Pepper and Rhodey... it felt a bit out of place in the comic-verse, but since this is a limited series it was really nice.

The rise of Skynet... wait, that's a different more interesting story.
The art was nice, but too dark; lost a lot of detail.
The story was the 4th or 5th or 6th time that Stark has lost himself to the dark side and become evil Iron Man. It was mildly interesting in places, but felt very incomplete and rushed. Not sure how or even if this is supposed to fit into the 'real' Marvel Universe.

I so, so hate this type of story line. Possession os a main character (be it fantasy, Sci-fi, amnesia or whatever) always annoys me. I kind of hate read this to the end but didn't enjoy it. Art is beautiful, though.

Interesting concept, lovely artwork, terrible story.
rushed and with little to no character development to help you understand *why* it's happening, this really isn't the best Tony Stark story out there.

Beautiful art, but I wasn't too crazy about the story line. The Tony Stark in Iron Man: Rapture conflicted with the Tony Stark I have read just about everywhere else. Not terrible, but not something I would re-read.

The art was the most interesting thing about this story. Take that out and we are left with something dull and mildly predictable. The characters felt pretty wooden and unconvincing.
