Your money fights are never really about the money. Erin Skye Kelly breaks down what is happening underneath those financial feuds with your partner so you can work together to build the life you envisioned when you committed to each other.
In this book, you’ll learn: - What your own specific money blocks are and why they are preventing you from maximizing your wealth - What your partner’s money blocks are and how they drive your partner’s financial habits - How your blocks intersect and what you are actually fighting about (hint: it isn’t about the money) - Effective cash flow techniques to help you properly communicate about money and rapidly increase your wealth - How your lack of communication about money is affecting you in the bedroom and beyond
The follow-up book to Get the Hell Out of Debt, Naked Money Meetings was written in honor of the thousands of couples Erin has worked with who have paid off millions of dollars in debt. After enough couples said, “Erin’s work is better than sex therapy!” she decided to bare it all for you.
To begin, this book is a true game-changer, offering more than just advice for couples; it serves as a profound guide to self-improvement and overcoming the financial obstacles that impede our progress.
As I immersed myself in its pages, I discovered its potential to elevate my personal growth. When the time comes for a relationship, it becomes an invaluable companion. It provides remarkable insights into my past dating experiences, shaping my perception of an ideal partner. Most importantly, it equips me with the tools to engage in those crucial yet often intimidating conversations about money.
Erin Skye Kelly possesses a unique talent for making money discussions both comfortable and essential. Those conversations we typically avoid? Well, they are indispensable for our personal and relational development. I even got the Audible version because why not? Repetition is the key to mastering any skill!
In summary, make sure to add this gem to your cart and embark on a journey to rid your money blocks.
Erin Skye Kelly has written another outstanding (and witty) book on money / relationships. This is not a book to read once and put on the shelf, but a book that will continue to provide new insights with every read. Naked Money Meetings helps us to identify, understand and change the blocks that prevent us from managing our debt and building wealth. It provides a clear path on how to shift our habits and patterns and how to lovingly work with our partners to achieve financial goals. Naked Money Meetings: Ending Money Fights with Your Partner Forever
In the past, there was a lot of "blame and shame" when it came to discussing finances in my marriage. Since I've started reading this book, my level of confidence in talking with my husband about money is just soaring!! This book is unlike any financial book I've ever read. Erin explains how limiting beliefs around money can manifest as "money blocks" that prevent you from increasing your wealth. Awareness of our primary money blocks is bringing more understanding and compassion into our marriage and into our communication style. I love Erin's style of writing. She talks truth with a lot of humor and a lot of heart. I highly recommend this book to everyone (singles included).
I absolutely loved Erin's first book, Get the Hell Out of Debt, and I can happily say the same about this one. Erin is down to earth, honest and good humoured while diving into the vulnerability required to heal our relationships with money. This book helped reveal the thoughts and beliefs my partner and I have about money and provided valuable insight to have supportive conversations regarding our finances. From budgeting to wealth building to financial goals, Naked Money Meetings is a must have resource!
This is not another budget or money book and it’s not about being naked. This isn’t how we’re right and our partners are doing wrong. This is about vulnerability in relation to money. This is about coming to terms with where we are and what our money blocks are. This is about communicating and growing ourselves, our money muscles and our relationships. Erin educates with humour, personal stories and easy to understand strategies. The shame free and transparent honesty is refreshing. I laughed out loud at the stories, the phrases and learning moments. Although couples are often the subject of the book, her tools empower anyone to understand themselves and move forward from their money blocks. I found this book helpful in not only identifying my blocks, but understanding how I inherited them from my parents and former partners. I found her approach passionate and supportive, with an obvious desire to help us get out of debt and work towards a wealthy life. I highly recommend giving this money book a good read. If you do, keep your highlighters handy.
Provides a way of knowing your money management style, and your partner's, so you can work more effectively together. Good for those people who want to learn about how to partner with your spouse on money matters. Lots of great points about budgeting; I liked how a budget is positioned as a roadmap - and you are not a failure if your budget does not balance at the end of the month. Kelley talks about the main purpose of a budget being to help your net worth go up. Her other primary point is that money blocks drive your behaviour, so knowing your money block (lack, spend, worthiness, intelligence and skill, hard work, stress, procrastination, and money guilt) and your partner's money block is helpful. It is kind of like a Cosmo-quiz. She talked about having naked money meetings with your partner, and being vulnerable. Her basis is both people have to work together to build an environment where both have emotional safety when having these meetings. Both people need to show up with love.
This book is fantastic! Erin is the best at taking money, (generally a boring topic that everyone likes to avoid), and actually making it fun and easy to understand! When reading the book, Naked Money Meetings, you will get to understand yourself and your relationship with money at whole new level. Erin teaches us why we act certain ways with our money based of money blocks and beliefs we have. She also gives practical steps to help us overcome these so we can reach a new level of abundance. This book also helps us to understand why the people we love act the way they do and the lessons go way beyond money!
Erin’s previous book “Get the Hell out of Debt” helped me look at my spending patterns, taught me how to earn money different, save and build wealth. But my relationship with money and what it represents in my life was stopping me from moving past Phase 1. This books title made me apprehensive I’m single and I hate being naked 😂 This book however was written in such a down to earth manner and had me laughing from page 1 by the time I worked through my money blocks I was engrossed and i read it cover to cover. I have a lot of work to do on myself but this book is something I will keep dipping into as I move forward with my relationship with money!
I was so excited to get my copy of Naked Money Meetings and it's as good as I had hoped. It's beautifully written, with humor and insight, and no judgment. Erin walks you through understanding money blocks that pop up for all of us and how to move through those blocks with practical techniques. Best of all, Erin shows how the money blocks that you might be carrying interact with other people's money blocks. Regardless, this book is for everyone - whether single, coupled or in a family. I highly recommend this book for anyone who uses money and interacts with other human beings - so everyone.
I appreciated the parts about money blocks and how to heal them. However, I did not like this book as much as the first. It may be me, as I have become more advanced with my finances than I was with first book. It felt like a lot of the ideas were things I already knew so it kind of made the book dry to me. Worth checking out though if you are a couple that struggles with money or have a lot of money blocks.
This book is such a great read! A perfect companion to Erin's first book Get The Hell Out of Debt. Erin helps you learn to navigate your money blocks with humor, making learning about your money fun and easy to understand.
To be fair, this is probably a very useful book for a lot of other people. I just realized after a while that my husband and I have some really healthy communication habits around money and are not the target audience for this book.
I enjoyed the exploration of money blocks and ways to address them. Looking forward to sharing this read with my partner and finding better ways to communicate about finances.
Erin does such a great job of understanding out habits and the science as to why and how we spend our money. She is changing lives and changing relationships, both with money and the people we love.
This is not a book about budgeting. Whether you are partnered or not, this is a great resource for addressing your money blocks. It's an excellent follow-up to Get the Hell Out of Debt, but it can definitely be read alone. This is a good selection for a book club. I'm a big fan of Erin's so just know this is probably not an objective review, but I did purchase the book with my own money (or credit card rewards, I don't recall now!)
