101 Bible Questions: And the Surprising Answers You May Not Hear in Church

Rate this book
This book asks the hard, forbidden, or taboo questions about Christianity—and offers surprising biblical answers you may never hear in church.

“Don’t ask too many questions. Just go with the flow.”

It seems like there are a lot of questions about Christianity we’re not supposed to ask—at least not in church. If we do ask them and arrive at surprising answers, we might ruffle too many feathers—a prospect scary enough to encourage most of us to keep our questions to ourselves. For too many people, the result is a shallow or shipwrecked faith.

With refreshing honesty, Andrew Farley upends the taboos in this bold new book. Among the questions he

• Are any sins unforgivable?

• Can we lose our salvation?

• Am I really supposed to give 10 percent of my income to the church?

• Are divorce and remarriage wrong for a Christian?

Andrew’s challenging, no-nonsense style—soaked in grace and grounded in Scripture—offers a radical new outlook on the nature of God and His boundless love for you. Prepare to be surprised by what you read. The answers to your questions may be even better than you think.

I am extremely bias rating this considering I absolutely love Andrew Farley for years! I own all of his books and he has been a tremendous blessing in my life. This is the Gospel simplified: God loves everyone and wants a relationship with His creation. The only thing that separates a believer from a unbeliever is UNBELIEF. It is not sin, sin has been nailed to the cross over 2000 years ago. It is not the law or these rules that you have to abide by.

The beauty of the Gospel is not only does Jesus love you but He likes you too!

Basically I heard pretty much 95% of all these questions and answers from Farley. This would be a great book for people who are just now understanding their identity in Christ or if you simply want to be reminded.

Jesus+plus nothing..no other alternatives!

I genuinely cannot recommend this book in good conscience.

While it seems designed for new believers—or even curious skeptics seeking clarity about Christianity—the language is overly simplistic in a way that risks distorting deeper biblical truths. Complex theological concepts are reduced to short, casual explanations that can unintentionally blur the lines between truth and misunderstanding. More than once, I found myself rereading passages because what was said either felt confusing or almost sounded like the opposite of what Scripture teaches.

For someone not yet rooted in the Word, or unfamiliar with the context of Scripture, this could be misleading. And if that reader isn’t actively in the Bible themselves, they may not even realize what’s missing or misrepresented.

There were also a few points that, quite honestly, didn’t align with what the Bible teaches.

Where I am in my walk with the Lord, I was able to read this with discernment—but only with focus, prayer, and the help of trusted mentors to navigate certain claims. They too expressed concern about how the language might be misinterpreted.

Ultimately, the best way to understand the Bible is to read the Bible. Pairing that with sound, biblically rooted commentaries and wise counsel is far more helpful than relying on a book that answers deeply layered questions in just a page or two. Clarity matters—especially when pointing others to Jesus.

Having recently read Andrew’s book THE GRACE MESSAGE, which was excellent, I purchased this one… I would rate it as a B+. While he hits the bullseye 🎯 90% of the time, there are a couple of areas that the author needs to experience and focus on… The Baptism of the Holy Ghost is one key area where he apparently has no experience. It’s evident from his response because it sounds more like something that you would hear from academia. Experiencing the Spirit Baptism, which follows Salvation, is essential for understanding the power that Jesus promises us in Acts 1:8. Only then will he fully comprehend the role of the Spirit in areas like the laying on of hands for healing, deliverance, tongues, casting out demons and raising the dead. (Matthew 10:8)

So, here’s my prayer for Andrew… That he will earnestly seek the Baptism of the Holy Ghost and to walk in the power of the Spirit to fulfill the will of God. Amen. (Luke 11:10, Matthew 7:8)

I used this as the basis for a series I taught my young adults Sunday school class. I'd play devil's advocate with the topics and they had to convince me that I was wrong, and then I'd teach through the topic. I covered a few topics per week and used this book as a general guide. Some of the questions are lopsided, but most were very good! One question at the top of each page, and then a one-page answer. Nice format and easy to use. Although it's not a book I'd just hand out, it IS a great format to teach from.

Christianity never made sense to me until I read Andrew's work. He doesn't give the same mixed messages about the Bible that I received in so many churches. He writes beautifully, and these answers are so clear. This is a great book to have to read now and refer to in the future.

I was a Christian for many years and always thought I was a disappointment to God. Now I know I'm not, and it's a relaxing, secure way to live.
