For forty years Sam Slade has been one of the best robo-tectives in the business, but all of his experience couldn’t prepare him for his latest case. In 2080 overpopulation of the Earth led the Space Commission into seeking out new planets to colonise. Four years later they discovered Verdus, a suitable planet in the Crab Nebula. Now, Colonists who sent there have not been heard from again. The Commission believe that robots have taken control of the planet and want Sam to uncover the truth. It’s a dangerous case, but one Sam can’t refuse – otherwise he’s guaranteed a bullet in the head!

John Wagner is a comics writer who was born in Pennsylvania in 1949 and moved to Scotland as a boy. Alongside Pat Mills, Wagner was responsible for revitalising British boys' comics in the 1970s, and has continued to be a leading light in British comics ever since. He is best known for his work on 2000 AD, for which he created Judge Dredd. He is noted for his taut, violent thrillers and his black humour. Among his pseudonyms are The best known are John Howard, T.B. Grover, Mike Stott, Keef Ripley, Rick Clark and Brian Skuter. (Wikipedia)

El mejor personaje de 2000AD, en mi humilde opinión, es el gran Sam Slade. Mejor que Dredd, mejor que Anderson, mejor que Johnny Alpha o Warlock. Robo-Hunter no tiene rival.

Alan Grant y John Wagner cambian su estilo de escritura para asemejarse a un cruce bastardo entre Raymond Chandler e Isaac Asimov, y no hay nada que no mole: protagonista, secundarios, antagonistas... los chistes dan siempre en el blanco, la aventura no da tregua y, simplemente, Sam Slade es el héroe más simpático y humano jamás publicado por la revista.

Bueno, cansado de esperar una edición digna de mano de Dolmen, me he pillado estos tomos, que recuerdo con añoranza de cuando era un crío, directamente en inglés... y me acuerdo de todo, a pesar del tiempo transcurrido desde su lectura. Y es que Robo-Hunter mola cuando tienes doce años, cuando tienes treinta y cuando tienes ya... bueno, cierta edad.

Classic old-style 2000AD strip full of British humor in a sci-fi story about a robot-hunter and his adventures in a plant inhabited only by robots that are not very friendly towards humans
