Hirohiko Araki ( 荒木飛呂彦) is a Japanese manga artist. He left school before graduation from Miyagi University of Education.

He enjoys the baseball manga Kyojin No Hoshii (Star of the Giants); the video games Mario Kart and Bomberman; and likes Prince and other African-American singers, as well as jazz, rock, and rap.

He is a recipient the Tezuka Award for manga.

Me he quedado un poco loca cuando he visto que en la primerísima página figuraba la fecha de hoy (28 de octubre, aunque, por supuesto, no del mismo año)... cosas que pasan, supongo xD
Me hacen mucha gracia los postfacios de Araki. Es un millenial nacido en la época de los boomers xD
Jolyne promete dar bastante caña (infinitamente más que Giorno), en este primer tomo se ha quedado a gusto ya con varias cosas x_D
Me ha dado un poco de ansiedad las injusticias que ocurren y el mundo de jungla que es la cárcel en la que está, pero bueno... Ah, y lo de la rata... uhhh qué asco...
Acaba en un cliffhanger bonico del tó', así que nada, me quedo esperando al siguiente tomo...
Ah, y los pantalones de Jotaro son un tanto cuestionables xD

Stone Ocean is a tough part to review. It’s an odd story with odd pacing, with some parts that left me kind of bored and/or slightly underwhelmed. Then there’s parts that might surpass the very best of what the entire series has to offer. I guess it’s a “highest highs, lowest lows” type of thing.

The second half of Part 6 is just phenomenal, though. And that ending… yeah, I would’ve liked to have seen Josuke and Giorno once more but this is truly one of the great endings that art form has to offer.

So what do I rate it? 3 stars is just too low, but 4 stars is just too high. I’ll leave it at 3, but know that it’s more like 3.5.

After Part 5 kinda burnt me out on Jojo’s, I’ve finally returned after a month or so to read Part 6. And this first volume is… alright. It’s nothing great, imo. Jolyne’s stand and the setting are kinda interesting, and I liked the twist towards the end, but tbh I wasn’t the most interested reading this (maybe why it took me a few days to finish). I dunno if that’s lingering burnout from Part 5, Jolyne’s character not being setup much yet, or the plot being kinda slow to start… or maybe a mish-mash of those issues, idk.

Also, the first enemy stand shown was just a rehash of the shrinking stand from Part 5😭 c’mon Araki. Ik you prolly just wanted to use the prison’s architecture for some cool fights / scenes, but at least do something that’s different enough to be unique. At least the stand revealed towards the end of the volume was kind of cool though, I guess.

Overall, it’s a decent start. From what I remember of the few episodes of the anime I watched, the plot should at least kick into gear in the next volume, so… fingers crossed.

It's no secret that I wasn't the biggest fan of the last Part of the Jojo saga. Part 6 has got off to a great start and I have a good feeling about it. Having the new Jojo be a woman is a fantastic change and gives the story a very different feeling. Jojo being a woman hasn't toned down the action at all as it's not long before she is thrown in jail. This is going to be a wild ride.
This volume takes place almost completely in a jail which gives it an almost locked room mystery feel about it. Soon Jojo finds herself not only locked up but also immersed in the world of Stands. Unlike previous Jojo's she is all alone and has no mentor figure to try and work out what is going on.
During the last set of chapters we get the fantastic return of a character from a previous part which is very well done but nothing is what it seems.
This is a really great start to Part 6 and I really hope it continues not only to be good but also different from the previous parts of the saga.

A pretty great start to this new JoJo part. I love the set up of the women's prison and Jolyne is a super cool star. In this volume she is put in prison unjustly after being framed by her boyfriend....but actually it was all part of Johngalli A.'s master plan to get revenge on the Joestar line! Dun, dun, duuuun! Jolyne has to fight her roommate Gwess, who can shrink people down and is absolutely hungry for power and control but also wants a cute friend (more like plaything.) Jolyne successfully beats her up and has gained an ally in Gwess who helps her understand how things work in the prison, like never loan out money. Jolyne then gets a visitor, her dad Jotaro and they get caught up fighting Johngalli's stand...but wait, it was a trick and they're being digested alive by his actual stand! They get out, but now the prison is on high alert. There's also a kid in a baseball player outfit that gives Jolyne a woman's sacral bone which protects her. Who the kid is, I have no idea.

Nada mejor que empezar el año con una gran lectura. Ya desde el primer tomo estoy a los pies de la prota ah, ya me enredó en su red uwu (? Ahre.
Dios, como amo que con cada parte la escritura va mejoran más y más AMO y me gustaron mucho esas "tarjetitas" que te dan de los personajes, ayuda mucho a entender el comportamiento de ellos, que al principio parece aleatorio y muy ...bizarro(seh,debería ser comediante (?) Pero mirándolo desde otro ángulo es completamente comprensible su accionar. Me encanta como todo está muy bien pensado y cuantos misterios aún estaba por rebelarse.
Espero con ansias a que me presten el siguiente tomo.(algún día lo compraré yo :,) espero)

This part made me cry. Jolyne is such a wonderful, captivating character. I love her growth, her toughness and her kindness throughout the whole series!! Her fashion is absolutely incredible as well and when she gets a glow up in the last quarter?? WOWWW love love love. She embodies the whole Joestar bloodline and this part serves as an excellent finale to the first JoJoverse. Every death was compelling despite there being so many and they each made me cry. The stands in this are probably among my favourite and the most creative out of the entire series. "I love you Stone Ocean" we all say in unison.

hirohiko araki não se tornou uma lenda em seu meio a toa. sua obsessão por moda, homens bombados e suados, telenovelas e horror gera uma das misturas mais fascinantes que existem na mídia mangá, e a parte 6 nao poderia ser diferente.

de seus protagonistas, jolyne é a mais refinada narrativamente. ela é abrasiva, amarga, vingativa – e também inteligente, espirituosa, compassiva. ver a arapuca em que ela se mete é genuinamente angustiante, ampliado pelo traço sensacional que aqui é quando começou a se tornar referência.

My son was into JoJo's Bizarre Adventure at one point when he was younger and I saw this at the library, liked the cover, and thought I'd give it a try. With almost no exposure to the JoJo world, jumping in the middle like this was a bit odd. Mostly I liked the artwork, although some panels were almost uninterpretable when the action scenes got up close, distorted, and enlarged. Wow. I sound old. I guess I am old.

Story: Meh. Artwork: Appealing. JoJo's Character: Fun.

This is a review for the whole Stone Ocean arc. I really love this story although it has a bit of an 'out there' ending. The fact that the Joestar that we follow is now a woman and the dynamics of a prison setting make it very interesting. As always the creativity of stand powers and battle tactics do not disappoint. I felt the main villains was especially interesting and the character work generally was very good.

Jolyne Cujoh stood out immediately as one of the most compelling JoJos, her rebelliousness and vulnerability grounding the story in a way that felt refreshing. Watching her grow into her role, not just as a fighter but as someone who inherited her family’s legacy, was moving and deeply earned. The Florida prison setting gave the part a claustrophobic tension, with enemies lurking at every corner and Stand battles becoming increasingly psychological and surreal.

What makes Part 6 remarkable is its ending. It is both crushing and beautiful, redefining what closure in a long-running series could look like. While the pacing and sheer strangeness of some fights can feel overwhelming, its ambition cannot be understated. Part 6 is about fate, inevitability, and the resilience of the human spirit even when the universe itself seems to turn against you. It may not be the most polished of the parts, but it left me with a lasting impression that few stories ever manage to achieve.
