Tanjiro’s quest to avenge his family and heal his sister is over!
Demon Kimetsu no Yaiba took readers on a thrill ride through Taisho-era Japan, as Tanjiro and the rest of the Demon Slayer Corps battled the most fearsome and vicious demons of all time. Now that the dust has settled, Demon Kimetsu no Yaiba—Corps Records has all the info a fan could want about the series, as well as a never-before-printed bonus manga!
TW// murder (including of parents, children, spouses, grandparents), suicide, self-harm, brief mention of incest
Demon Slayer: Corps Records is an overview of the main series with added information that didn’t fit into the main series along with a few bonus stories. It served as a great review of the series and there was definitely a lot of new information I really enjoyed. My favorite moments were the added information about Suma, Nakime’s backstory, and a couple of the bonus manga stories.
Despite having some good parts to this guidebook, I found it tedious to get through at times. I’ve never been fond of learning the details of each breathing form and a good chunk of this guidebook is going over each breathing form in detail. There also appears to be several errors in Corps Records. Numerous sections of the guidebook were out of place. For example, instead of including information about flame breathing in “The Secret to Flame Breathing,” the information about beast breathing is repeated in that section. Mix ups happened elsewhere in the manga as well like in the recap of the series where “Kanae” is repeatedly said instead of “Shinobu.” Some sections also contained missing letters and words, leaving awkward gaps in the text.
•himejima knows all the hashiras’ crushes •literally no one likes douma (lol) •akaza has always been a certified yapper •sanemi is actually the biggest softie •muichiro’s “he’s just sort of there” about giyu •suma is a bisexual queen
anyway.
the only question that remains for me is why kaigaku wears the 2005 scene-girl choker? still unclear~
Oh, my loves <3 (and Zenitsu...) While I loved the fanbook and its contents, I must say the VIZ translation is miserable.
I can oversee a few typos as they can happen. Here, there were just far too many spelling errors (e.g. Kaguya), missing words (e.g. the name of Sanemi's special blood type (marechi) was forgotten; there is literally just a blank space), wonky sentence structure, and mistranslations (e.g. Gyomei's siblings dying not only of illness and hunger and but getting killed by demons too; Yoriichi being called Tanjiro's ancestor).
Worst of all was the amount of times when pieces of text were doubled/blindly copy-pasted, erasing the correct text. This ranged from minor oversights (e.g. Inosuke's Kasugai Crow being called a "Kasugai Sparrow") to larger mistakes (e.g. the text for the "Secret of Flame Breathing" is the same one for "Secret of Beast Breathing," suddenly making Inosuke the creator of Flame Breathing!). If it had happened once it would have been annoying but okay. Unfortunately, it happened again and again and again, and so much info went missing because of that!
Clearly, no one read through the databook one more time before sending it to the printing press. At least, no one conscious and awake did. I don't think I've ever read a book/manga with that many mistakes in it before.
I hope the second printing corrects all that; if not, shame on the publisher. This is, frankly, so embarrassing of them.
Information book on the protagonists/antagonists in from the Demon Slayer manga series!! Shares facts about characters as well as it having a few funny comic strips at the end of the book :)
I technically did not finish this because Infinity Castle did not advertise that it is only part 1 of 3 of the Kimetsu no Yaiba final season being shown as feature-length movies instead of a normal season. Probably a good move for them, effectively ransoming the finale from fans wanting to see how it ends.
"But they can read the manga!" Sure, but it's a VERY visually-appealing anime that well surpasses the manga's visuals. (Only certainsourcematerials I would say are better than theircorrespondinganime.)
So, I tried to skip reading the parts covering the VERY end (SPOILER: they win *GASP*) but still ended up accidentally seeing things mentioned that I didn't want to see. They made sense, though—good twist, would've been nice to NOT see that coming later on. On the whole, it's a lot of telling, not showing (for good reason: it's basically an encyclopedia), so it's not GREAT to read, but it's very well put together for what it is and includes some fun bonus comics after the main biographical part (including a weird bit of tie-in to Kimetsu Academy).
Recommended for fans (who have preferably finished the series)!
I understand the appeal of a compendium of breathing styles along with an "objective" recounting of characters and events but... ...it's pretty boring. The editing of the "data" parts is unacceptably poor and it feels like there is a lack of effort in explaining things - e.g. the personality of rach Demon Slayer's crow.
I am minded to compare it to the Pokemon universe's dozens of similar books - while they can be quite dry they at least rest on a solid base of statistics. Here, the "Records" are reliant on the story, which means a number of breathing forms are incompletely described along with the network of demons and demon slayers.
Where the author makes direct contributions, they vary between mildly interesting to outstanding. The post victory story shows the author's ability to convey emotion through the plot without needing "demons" to provide the counterpoint. It also shows their talent with their - the scene with Giyu smiling near singlehandedly makes this book a good use of my time.
So this book provides very little addition to the stories, but there's a couple of gems in there.
୨୧ Demon Slayer (Kimetsu No Yaiba) Corps Record by Koyoharu Gotouge 𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜: ★★★★★
"𝘛𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳..."
having a relapse of your favorite book, film, or series is something that we should cherish and became part of our core memories. as i finish everything the series and manga, kimetsu no yaiba is one of my favorite anime and manga of all time. even though, the series hasn't been completed yet, but it's already in the final season. i can't believe that time flies so fast that everything about this manga will soon be over.
luckily, this mini book is a compilation of different records like character information which includes the hashiras, main characters and demons, recap of individual arcs and chapters and a short story about *spoiler*. sorry but i won't be sharing it, because i might spoil some. also in addition, there's some cute and interesting illustrations of the characters, my fave one was the small Nezuko Kamado. 🌸
I can't wait for the final season of Kimetsu No Yaiba and I'll literally cry while watching it 🥹.
I bought this book as a Christmas gift for myself. Received it on Thursday and I just finished it today. It was worth the read. I loved learning about the Demon Slayer Corps and the characters along with the hilarious trivia. The best thing for me was the three bonus mini mangas like Rengoku's First Mission, Tanjiro's Status Report, and Goto's interview with the demons. I was surprised to learn some trivia about the Hashiras and the demons. I wished more information was added, but I'm happy with what I read. Also, the cover is beautiful. My only complaint is the five misprints that I found, but nothing that the dear world of Reddit translations solved for me and which now I have added as notes into the copy. To any Demon Slayer fans, this book is a must-read, you might get annoyed with the misprint (not going to lie about that), but still worth spending the time and getting lost in the world of Demon Slayer.
I think this was a good book and had a lot of demon slayer information I might have missed. This is just missing the 1 star because there were too many typos and some boxes were repeated and put with the wrong characters. It missed a lot of important information too, and messed up information too. The artwork in the beginning was nice, but it wasn’t really the art style in the actual manga series. Like all the characters have giant lips for some reason. I was hoping there would be more secrets and not really just a book full of info every fan already knows. So that was kind of disappointing. Like I wish it told us more about the demons and their backstories. I did like the little short manga stories at the end though. They were cute.
This translation had so many typos. There was a trivia box where most of them were copy-pastes of previous characters', so I never got most of the character's trivia. This also does not have character info like heights, birthdays, etc., if that's what you're looking for. It's mostly lists of the character's breathing forms. The extra comics and doodles were cute though. Adds to the lore.
Also, don't read this unless you finished the anime or manga, since this has ending spoilers.
Ive read this more times then I can count! not only does it give a ton on info you might have missed in the manga/anime, it also has cute little stories in it and cute chibis. i rlly love the corps records and i hope koyoharu gotouge releases more because i will EAT IT UPPPPPP. You also get a interview of how it felt for demons to be killed with every breathing style including the Uppermoons and Muzan and Muzan's panel of him talking about Sun Breathing is so funny bro is so pissed lol
More like a 4.5 stars for me honestly. I really enjoyed all the background information in this Corps Records volume and seeing just how some of the characters came together was really cool to see. Also the Kimetsu Academy pages were hilarious.
This was quite the informative record of the Demon Slayer Corps! I really enjoyed reading/absorbing all the data about (almost) all of the characters that appeared in the series! I will have to admit that unfortunately my copy had about five-ish textual errors that were kind of irritating, but hopefully this can be soon corrected. I especially loved seeing what the Hashira thought about one another, and I loved reading the bonus chapter on Kyōjurō!
Pretty cool for what it is, but character bio books aren’t my thing and much of the bonus material is lame (I also don’t care for the Kimetsu Academy thing). The bright spot is the Rengoku Chapter 0 prequel story.
Tp gakpapa sih dpt info detail seputar Hashira Relationship (yg membagongkan dunia maya berkat Himejima)
