Two geniuses. Two brains. Two hearts. One battle. Who will confess their love first…?!
Will Kaguya get to the airport in time to say goodbye to Miyuki? First, she and an ally must make one last attempt to repair the rift between the Shinomiya and Shijo families. Then, Miyuki plots what to do with the leftover money from the bribe he received, Miko tries to bridge the distance between her and Yu when he goes abroad for summer break, and Chika leads everyone in one of her signature trauma-inducing games!
Now that the big storyline is wrapped up, it’s pretty clear that we’re heading into the series’ victory lap and that’s okay, if unexciting.
It’s mostly an excuse to spend a little more time with these characters, which, after all this time, is hardly an unwelcome notion, but even with my general enjoyment of a couple of points it does feel like it is time to wrap this up, which I think I have been saying for a while now.
The first chapter being one of Chika’s inane games that turns out to be, essentially, an excuse to say wiener a lot while Kaguya is gone is pretty on brand, at least, and even if the ending is predictable it’s really fun.
There’s a lot of this sort of misadventure, as Kaguya gets into a brawl with Shijo over Miyuki that goes poorly, Kaguya tries to talk to Miyuki but everybody needs to have a ‘friend moment’ with him, and a heart-wrenching moment of sleeping in turns out to be less of a thing.
I love that they get rid of Miyuki, physically at least, but he remains a presence in the student council by the most ridiculous means possible. And we see the end of Chika’s ramen arc, which may not have been an arc at all.
It’s all pretty good on reflection, but we’ve certainly passed the series’ heyday. Then again, are you really going to bail out two volumes from the finish? That seems silly and at least this isn’t resting on its many laurels.
3.5 stars - no rounding this time, let’s see what the finale brings. Still, it’s got most of what you’d want from this and better than you might expect this far along.
Overall, this volume is tying up loose ends. It is the calm before the storm to this fabulous series. Everything is folding up nicely. Miyuki is studying abroad but Kaguya is still able to visit him by flying there. The “Everyday Life” is a nice touch because it shows the character’s mundane tasks when they are in a relaxed mood and not saving Kaguya. Kaguya has found her passion in photography (didn’t expect that coming, but recalling the Phone Arc in Volume 10, it now makes sense). I would like to see Ishigami and Miko dating, but I guess then gaming together despite the distance (as Ishigami is studying in Switzerland) makes sense. It’s the start of their would-be romantic relationship. I am gonna miss Kaguya when it wraps up, but it’s a “goodreads” so far 📖🤩.

Book: Kaguya-Sama: Love is War, Vol. 27 Author: Aka Akasama Rating: 4 Out 5 Stars
One more volume to go! I will say that I do like how the author is bringing everything home. It is doing what it needs to go and I will admit that I was nervous.
The climax has happened and now we are getting the characters’ final chapters. We are getting to see them move on to their next steps of life. While they are moving apart, we see them stay in touch. It works. I like getting to see them become their own person, but also like that they are still coming together in their own ways. Seeing them communicate with one another in different settings and through different means has really added to their character. It’s like they have finally found their own voice and have developed their own character.
I like how, I am assuming, that everyone is going to get their own chapter to tell us how they are moving on. Like I have said before, this is a great move in terms of character development. It gives us what we need and what we need to see. It’s a nice change of pace from all of the action that we have been having.
The artwork is still doing what it needs to do. It shows us the characters' expressions and captures their character so well. I like how each character has their own unique facial expressions and, again, how it adds to their character arc.
Overall, I am excited to see how the final chapters of the series are going to come together.
I got into this series by watching the anime. I picked up where the anime dropped off which was around volume 15.
Assuming the anime followed the manga closely, I feel the second half is pretty different. It took a more serious tone which felt weird given how funny and playful it was in the first half. The focus also changed, I would say.
In the first half, it was all about Kaguya and Miyuki (for the most part) and their relationship. Then once we got past volume 15, and once they got together they didn’t really seem to have any tension and their relationship progressed quickly and easily with us barely seeing anything. They (their relationship) was no longer the focus and we got many side stories on the background characters. I didn’t care for this and felt like Kaguya was missing often throughout chapters.
Then there was also the focus on the shinomiya/shijo stuff which once again seemed weird in the sense that it was so serious and such a big deal. Once again, I couldn’t care for it much since I was used to the funny/cute stuff from the beginning.
Overall, I feel what reeled us in in the beginning was definitely lost halfway through. I didn’t laugh as much and there was not enough Kaguya/Miyuki time.
I still really don’t like Hayasaka and I don’t ship Ino and Yu. I’m sad this last half was so different and not as enjoyable as the first half.

We are almost at the end, after the final arc. All we have is end game. Epilogues, this volume was okay, not too good, not bad either, just good. Miyuki's last three days with the gang and later finding out that Kaguya could just see him every week was quite the anti-dramatic approach. Plus, Kaguya is trying to achieve her dreams of becoming a photographer. All while Miko Ino is trying to win over Ishigami Yu. It's all Love Is War again!
The end is here. Well...this is not the final volume, though you truly read this and feel like it should have been. I feel like this volume is a bit long for goodbyes...but in the end it was 26 volumes of growing with the characters so it's excusable. I honestly wonder how the last volume will go. I have my own opinions, but I didn't think it couldn't fit into this volume. One more volume with these kids we've seen grow up is worth the elongated goodbye.
shinomiya missing shiroganes send-off and bawling her eyes out the entire process of booking a flight, on the flight and landing just to say goodbye to him and then realizing she can just fly every weekend bc she’s rich was so funny.
For what is basically the first half on an extended epilogue, it’s fine. A little uninteresting, but fine. I’m curious about what the ending could be, because the plane joke feels like it could have been the final punchline for the entire series.
3,5⭐ And so we come to the end of the entertaining story of Kaguya & Co. The chapter about Miyuki's departure is hilarious. Tender chapter about the way of calling one's lover. I also appreciated the slice-of-life chapters of the sidekicks. Curious about the epilogue.
Some nice chapters to start rounding things off properly. The vibe reminded me of earlier volumes which I liked much more, no grand stakes or danger. Kaguya following Shirogane to SF was funny - I don't think the manga has had a moment like that in a long while. Altogether a decent volume!
This is the point where I finally feel the series has stopped climbing and hit its plateau. Still love it though. I really wish Chika, Ai, and Maki find someone...maybe each other?

The wrap up begins. As the student council works to say goodbye to Miyuki as he goes to study at Standord. In between there are some very entertaining moments as shanagins remain at a high level.
