Whether confronting a gravel road, a hallucinatory vision of a horse-woman, a deep sensitivity to noise, or the curiosity of crows, Robert Vivian sees the world in a novel way, and this collection gives readers the opportunity to share his unique and intriguing vision.
A collection of short narratives -- non-fiction reflections -- published a few years ago by my favorite Alma professor, this book has been sitting next to my chair for about a year or so, beckoning to me from time to time when I am once again in need of some Vivianism, some melodramatic philosophy in my normal day (becuase I always need more...). Very descriptive, moving, thought-provoking, full of unique comparisons and powerful insight; it seems like a nice segue between that which is seen and that which is felt, asking you to look deeper within yourself, deeper within the world we inhabit, searching for meaning in a way not enough of us do.
