The former professional football player with the Washington Redskins discusses the drug addiction that led to his banishment from the National Football League, his struggle to hide his illiteracy, and the spread of such problems in collegiate and professional sports.
An eye-opening account and oftentimes disturbing, brutally candid first-hand account of Dexter Manley’s struggles with an unloving father, illiteracy (due to a long undiagnosed learning disability), infidelity, and drug addiction en route to (and after) his winning two Super Bowl titles with the Washington Redskins (that’s right, I said “Redskins,” not “Washington Football Team”).
Fairly interesting book on Dexter Manley. Gives a good glimpse into the mind of an addict. The book was written at a point in his life where he was still dealing with his demons so you don't get a sense of whether he finally overcame them.
