Blue Bonnet is Elizabeth’s nickname. Her mother nicknamed her because the color of her eyes was the same as the blue bonnet flowers growing at their Texas ranch. Blue Bonnet’s parents are dead and Blue Bonnet has been living with her uncles. She goes to Boston to live with her maternal grandmother and aunt. Blue Bonnet is a lively vivacious girl who has never had rules. In Boston she goes to school for the first time and has to follow rules. The first half of the book is more fun but by the middle she’s starting to turn into a proper lady so I got bored. I really wanted to like this book because it’s a series and I love reading series but I don’t think I’ll read more. Bottom line: the books written for boys in the latter part of the 19th century and early 20th century are far more interesting than the books for girls.
