"I Can Help" is an excellent kids book that teaches you how to never give up and always try your best. The book begins with the dog going to play grown-up. Then the dog tries to help the baby and knocks over the baby's blocks. After that the dog thinks it can clean up and makes a bigger mess. The dog then thinks it can help to plant flowers and also makes a mess. The dog then gets really sad about what it has all done wrong. At the end the dog goes back and helps the baby make the tower all over again.
The dog who is the main character in this book. He is a very playful young pup who thinks she can be a grown-up dog. She soon figures out it's not as easy as it looks. The dog learns to be careful and play soft.
This novel would be appropriate for children ages (5+) who like a good lesson at the end of a book. This was a great kids book.
I give this book a 3 out of 5 stars. It was just too short for my liking and is definitely a kids book. But I do like the fact that it has a great lesson at the end of this book teaching you that sometimes they don't need help. The lesson is to never give up even when you have messed up many time. It shows kids that you can overcome a lot through life.
This little children's book in Spanish is finally one I could read in its entirety without looking up a bunch of words. Part of the ¡Hola lector! series, this one focuses on Lector the Dog's wish to help out. (Yo puedo ayudar translates to I can help.) Unfortunately, Lector's efforts result in mishap after mishap, causing him to say that he can't do anything and is of no use. But perhaps the story isn't to have a young person focus on failings, because Lector then asks hoe it is that adults can do things so well? He concludes that they also made mistakes, but kept trying, and he can also. In the end, Lector is finally successful at helping someone, making them both happy.
A nice little book to teach young people the old adage that practice makes perfect.
I gave this book a four because it was too easy and it had very easy letters and it was very short. The dog wanted to help everything, but the dog made mistakes, and he thought he was useless. In the end, the dog became useful.
The drawings of the puppy are very cute, there is very few words, many of which are not sight words. There was more time spent taking and explaining picture then there was reading
This is a level 1 book with easy words and short sentences. My 4-year-old loves reading the "Noodles" series. They always seem to be about Noodles struggling with something and then finding a way to overcome it. The one thing I didn't like in this book is that he tells himself "I can't do anything. I'm useless." Thankfully, he didn't quit.
This is a very basic storybook; one that is great for a beginning reader or a child that can't grasp complex stories. Has simple three or four sentences per page and very simple but fun illustrations. Also even though the text is 'simple' it helps children know that even though it seems like they can't ever do anything they 'can'...
Scholastic Reader Level 1 A puppy tries to help but ends up making messes instead of helping. Short sentences, repetition of words. Fluency activity on the last page.
This is an easy read for beginning readers. My Kindergarten student flew through this book, so it would probably be an appropriate read for preschool-aged students. Cute book. Four stars!
