I really liked the character development in this book as everyone was pretty well fleshed out. I find the climax to be too absurd and it’s like it’s groping for an action film adaptation, but up to that point, I was hooked.
The book is a fast read at 258 pages.
The mental anguish characters go through is one of its strongest parts, but how Doug escaped and the climax kind of ruined that realism that was built into the setting. Also, Evan Ratcliffe changes to Radcliffe midway through, then ends up correct. Weird.
Read like a screenplay, taut with suspense and semi-responsible character motivation, only seemed pedantic in a couple of spots. A couple of times the plot jumped forward a little too quickly but it helped keep the pacing keep up. I blew through two - thirds of this book in no time. The setting was well developed. Thoroughly enjoyed it for relaxing read just before starting a new academic year.
