Luke came to Charity washed away at sea. He wakes up and doesn’t remember anything about his past. They end up getting married. A year later, someone bonks Luke over the head. He wakes up and doesn’t remember anything about his past. But this time, he exclusively forgot his wife. So Luke tries to go back home to his station as Duke, sans the farmwife. But Charity won’t be so easily left behind. She decides to follow him and... I don’t know... wait for him to be her husband again? But they end up falling in love a second time.
I didn’t realize this book would be about the heroine chasing the hero. I skimmed the summary. Oops. There wasn’t anything exactly wrong with the book. I just prefer more alfalfa heroes who are sure of themselves and what they want.
Safety notes: Luke has a separate fiancé whom he kisses and hugs and things. But he says that he’s only attracted to Charity. There’s no cheating except lying about already being married to Charity.
I wouldn’t reread this or keep it on my shelf, but I would recommend it if you like the heroine-tries-to-get-hero-back thing.
