Maureen Mary was born on 1945 at Port Macquarie, a popular seaside town on the Mid-North Coast of New South Wales, Australia, and is the youngest of four children. Her sister was the novelist Wendy Brennan (Emma Darcy). Her father was a country school teacher and brilliant sportsman. Her mother was a talented dressmaker. When Miranda was ten, her father was transferred to Gosford, another coastal town in the countryside, much closer to Sydney. After leaving her convent school, she briefly studied the cello before moving to Sydney, where she embraced the emerging world of computers. Her career as a programmer ended after she married, had three daughters and bought a small acreage in a semi-rural community. Following this, she attempted greyhound training, as well as horse and goat breeding, but was left dissatisfied.

Miranda yearned to find a creative career from which she could earn money. When her sister suggested writing romances, it seemed like a good idea. She could do it at home, and it might even be fun! It took a decade of trial and error before her first romance, After the Affair, was accepted and published. At that time, Miranda, her husband Tony, and her three daughters had moved back to the Central Coast, where they could enjoy the sun and the surf lifestyle once again. Not long into her writing career, Miranda committed herself to writing a six-book series entitled, The Hearts of Fire, with a deadline of just nine short months. Bravely, her husband left his executive position to stay home and support Miranda’s writing career. He learned to cook and to clean, two invaluable household skills. Numerous successful stories followed, each embodying Miranda’s trademark style: pacy and sexy rhythms; passionate, real-life characters; and enduring, memorable story lines. She has one credo when writing romances: Don’t bore the reader! Millions of fans world-wide agree she never does.

Miranda was the sister of the late author, Emma Darcy.

Re A Kiss to Remember - Miranda Lee kicks off her Affairs to Remember series with this heroine's quest to lose her unicorn grooming privileges to the Major Roofie Kisser BFF of her brother she met nine years earlier.

The h was 15 when her uni attending brother brought the really rich, really handsome H home to visit the family for the first time. He was 24 and the h tumbled head over heels into love. The H seemed to like her back, but it was all pretty chaste for the most part.

The h made one Grand Gesture of seduction when she wrote the H a heartfelt love poem for his last night at her family farm and the H gave her a big kiss and she has been comparing every other man to the H ever since.

Which means our 24 yr old supermodel-looking-but-is-really-a-school-guidance-councilor h is still a virgin.

Worried that she isn't able to council her students on the sex front because she hasn't experienced it herself,(and also because it is stupid to pine for man for nine years, especially when he married someone else,) the h resolves to do a thorough grooming revocation as soon as she can come up with a suitable man who generates a spark.

So she glams herself up and takes herself off to her brother's birthday party. Where she promptly meets the H again after several years of not seeing him. (The last time she saw the H he was marrying a woman that was in his economic class and the h was heartbroken he did not wait for her to grow up.)

There is some snark and a lot of h temper and verbal snappiness. The H is in the middle of a divorce and the h assumes it is because the H was cheating on his wife - her brother insisted the H was a big time womanizing stud to keep the h from chasing after the H.

We soon learn that the H was the one being cheated on, his wife married him for his money and then proceeded to bonk like bunnies with every man but the H. So lawyers were hired and detectives called and the H wanted to hang with his old BFF for moral support for such a low period in his life.

The h lies about her unicorn grooming status and tries to pick a lot of fights with the H, she is still mad he never fulfilled his promise to return when the h was 18 and commence HP Alpha H romancing of her besotted heart.

The snarky snapping goes on for a bit and it all culminates in the Big Purple Passion Moment of Bliss in a specially booked luxury honeymoon suite and there are no more hopeful brush holding unicorns trailing behind the h with big luminous eyes.

Then the h's farm wife mum has a heart episode and we all go to the h's parents farm. The H wants to get married as soon as his divorce is final and the h is unsure of the H's fidelity capabilities - he did cheat once while married to his first wife and once again when he lurved up the h.

It isn't until the really rich H offers to pay to send the h's parents on a luxurious Great Barrier Island vacation, move back to Sydney so the h can keep her counseling job and go into business with the h's brother, that the h believes his protestations of love and agrees to shack up with him with an eventual marriage for the big HEA.

This one was kinda meh, there was very little romantic tension and a lot of the secondary characters came off as chapter filler, but the h was sorta cute in her unrequited longing and attempts to talk herself out of it.

The H wasn't exactly a prize, but I believed he did love the h, so overall you could do worse for a fairly placid HP outing with some major lurve mojo sizzle.

"A Kiss to Remember" is the story of Angie and Lance

A tale of unrequited love, this is basically an ode to the h's undying longing for the hero, and her eventually getting him. He is the rich best friend of the brother, she is the wide eyed teenager who falls for him after the first look. He becomes her first kiss, but breaks her heart when he goes on to become a playboy and marry OW. She keeps her yearning for him in her heart, unexpectedly remaining a virgin and years pass by.
As she finally gets ready to heal her heart, he enters again, on the verge of divorce, and seems to be almost wanting her adoration. They soon decide to have a ONS, finally exploring what was burning between them forever, but ultimately after ridiculous drama they find their HEA.

TBH I had mixed feelings about this. The h was a lovestruck puppy, and it was kinda sad to see her mooning after a slutbag who goes and marries OW, forgetting about the h. He does return and kinda redeem himself with all his charm, but I don't forgive easily, and I needed more grovel. I wish they'd have waited till the H was divorced, but since he hadn't slept with his cheating wife for a while, it's supposed to be ok..? Also, her brother Bud can suck it.

That being said, this did make me laugh out loud.
‘Why, you... you...’ She began to pummel his bare buttocks with balled fists. ‘I’ll have you know that—’
And the poem at the end was a sweet finish.

Angie fell in love with her brother's best friend Lance Sterling when she was only a naive and innocent 15 years old girl. Now nine years later she still adores him but has decided to move on and meet the guy of her dreams at her brother's party. But then Lance turns up and this time he is different. More mature, more gorgeous and divorced. I liked both Angie and Lance. Hero was sex on legs and heroine was a fiesty cute little thing. Her romantic dreams and idealism never faded and I loved her for it. Wonderful romance about unrequited first love! Only needed an epilogue!!

Self note
The h unrequited love for her brothers bestfriend. He kissed the h, then meets the ow and marries her instead. Then divorces and it’s the h turn…she remained a boring virgin pining for him.

Gag. Avoid.

“Every day I shall think of you
Every night I shall dream of you
One day you will come for me
One night you’ll be one with me
Love burns eternal when it’s true
It does not die. I’ll always love you.”

This declaration of love was written by the h to the H when she was fifteen and on his last night of his summer vacation with her family.

She fell in love with him from the moment she saw him. He was her older brother’s best friend and was seven years older than her. That didn’t stop her undying love for him.

Sadly, life took different routes for them but her love for him endured. He moved on and married someone else. She grew up and hated him for not choosing her, but she stayed true to him. She dated but never got close to another man. However, after all these years she decided to move on with her life and finally take a lover. It was time to get over her unrequited love.

And that is the night that he popped back into her life. The H unexpectedly shows up on her brother’s doorstep on the night of his 30th birthday party. The chemistry that has been on low burn all these years flared into life and finally brings them together.

This was a really sweet story of a couple reunited after so many years and finally giving in to what they truly felt for each other. The H is still married during this, but is separated. His wife has cheated on him for years and they are in the process of divorcing.

A sticky situation for the h but she accepts it. It doesn’t stop her from choosing to be with the man she loves, even as his mistress.

A good read. It was enjoyable.

So that was different...First off, this book seemed to move fairly quickly. I kept waiting for the romance and angst to begin, and it never seemed to get there for me. Basically, the book was about sex...specifically losing ones virginity (in this case the heroine’s) . “Popping ones cherry “ were words actually used in the book. Lots of talking about the deed.

Recap with SPOILERS....Don’t READ Anymore...

Our h and H met 9 years ago when he came to stay at her family’s farm on holiday. He was a very rich friend of the brother(not a favorite character of mine)! He was 21 she 15. They fall in love(although we don’t realize at the time that the Hero loves her:typical:) they share a kiss, she gives him a poem(but wants to give more) He leaves.

In the meantime Bud the brother is telling the H to stay away from his sister while at the same time telling the sister what a manwhore the H is. I guess the H was the stud muffin at Uni. The H stays away...and eventually marries.(the h and the whole family attend the wedding) Meanwhile our h is now a 24 year old virgin because of that kiss(it was only a kiss) And No one or Nothing compares to the Hero.

She finally decides it’s time because it’s hard for her to counsel teens about sex when she herself is not in the know. She goes to her brothers party dressed to seduce...and who shows up? Lance the H. He is disappointed to see that the h has become a wanton woman. He showed up to the party hoping to reconnect with her as his marriage is over(but yet he is not divorced) it seems his wife married him for his money and then proceeded to shag every Tom, Dick and Harry out there. Originally she said she would have children but decided not to wreck her body. She moves out of the shared bedroom. The H has a one night stand and then later realizes he wants the h back in his life. So here we are at the party and the h and H are ready to do the deed in his car, but our flower keeps closing up tightly so Lance doesn’t get to use his lance and finds that the h is not wanton after all!

They set up a rendezvous for the next day. He gets the honeymoon suite . Our little h is so eager she doesn’t want to do any planned activities. Her first time with the H is fantastic and the prophylactics are tasty. They keep up the romancing, until the h gets a phone call that her mum has had a heart attack.

The H proposed marriage to h but she doesn’t like his job commitments and says she will be his mistress. She is willing to take his loving any which way she can because there is no way anyone can do to her what he has.

The H makes her think he is ok with this but with a little wheeling and dealing he decides to give up his job, sell his house, and move to Sydney. He decides to go into business with the brother and basically tells the h he was never going to want her as a mistress...They just have to wait 12 months for the divorce to go through and then they can marry. Then he whips out the poem she wrote him at 15....aww!!!

I skipped some things but nothing that was very exciting because quite frankly the book wasn’t exciting. So why am I giving it 3 stars....I haven’t read anything quite like this before so a star for surprising me and the story moves along quickly!. 2 Stars because it’s at least a 2 star read.

Hot and sexy! The chemistry between our couple was sizzling hot despite years apart.

I think the brother really did both of them a disservice by painting a really nasty playboy image of the hero to his lil sister in the name of protecting her.

Hero was a poor little rich boy who had all the material goods he wanted but no parental love...so bad he felt unworthy of the sweet and innocent heroine he stayed away for good. His unfortunate marriage to another woman ended badly but he immediately came to find heroine when his faithless wife left him!

Luckily they were still young and he'd no kids from the first marriage.

More like "A Book to Forget". Better still, just skip it.

I liked the book about the second chance. It’s a shame that H needed nine years and a disastrous marriage to see the light and go after the heroine. She was his second choice but partly because of some interference from her brother who didn’t want them together. His grand gesture seemed a bit desperate and he still wanted reassurance that the heroine loved him before he said it back. I appreciate that there was no OM drama.
