I had read and enjoyed this previously and decided to read it again. It's dated now in its language toward people of other races, though part of it is the reflection of the time period in which it took place. I didn't enjoy it as much as I did as a teenager, but having now visited many of the places Rockwell lived in or went to, I could more easily picture them. He certainly lived an eventful life and was a colorful character!

This book is part of the Storm Testament series. In this book Porter Rockwell has to have a lot of patience with all of the people he deals with. In our world today people with patience are few and far between. Where ever you go, if there is a line of any sort you will always hear people complaining. In the days of Porter people were just grateful they had a store to go to. Nowadays we have a lot of stores and we don’t take for granted the things we have. I wish more people had patience. This book also teaches the importance of honesty. In our world today a lot of people lack honesty. Honesty is a very important value to have. If you are not honest you won’t be successful. In “Rockwell” Porter has to have honesty. He even turns himself in to the police after he kills a man.
I would very strongly recommend this book to others. It teaches a lot of good life lessons and how the world was 200 years ago. This is my favorite book and it should be yours too! read it!

I loved it even though it was boring during a few historical type parts. Who would've thought he was such a wimp in the beginning.
