Eberswalde Library: Herzog & de Meuron

Rate this book
The Eberswalde Library has been compared to a Warhol painting. Designed in collaboration with artist Thomas Ruff, it carries the idea of a pictorial facade further than any other project by Herzog & de Meuron. Combining elements that have long been deemed incompatible -- minimalism and ornament, purity and baroque fullness, concrete box and pictorial facade, space and surface -- the building challenges the conventions of modernism.
