I was between eight and nine years old when I first read (and played) along with this and the other choose your own adventure books by Nintendo. In short, I was the perfect age to enjoy a story that did more than have a beginning, middle, and end - but several. Now in my thirties and looking back, I can't put a price tag on what this book and the entire series did to strengthen my interest in reading, problem solving, and of course - loving Nintendo.
This review will seem generic but in all honesty it does apply to 'all the above' within the Nintendo Adventure series. I hope that in today's paperless, all digital and shrinking physical ownership and face-to-face world - there still exists authors and publishers that seek to gain by exploring and taking full advantage of the win-win this market had and has to offer children and corporation alike.
Children don't know what's best for them - but this series was like getting a picky eater to complete an entire veggie only plate and believe it was ice cream. Final thought - It would be great to see on the maturing industry that is handheld touch computing devices a revival of the dynamic, puzzle solving, choose your own adventure/multi outcome book genre. These would certainly for my own and eventual children instant buys and shared family joys to engage together in completing.
