Earl Steinbicker’s books are probably my favorite travel guides. Most of my overseas travel has been to accompany my husband on business trips and so I’m usually on my own in a major city during the day. I’m not the world’s most adventurous and brave traveler, but with these guides, I feel pretty confident that I can get on a train by myself, spend the day seeing really interesting things, and then find my way back to my hotel at night. So far, these books have never failed me! Each chapter of this guide covers a different city with instructions on how to get there from London, and a walking tour (with map) of all the highlights once you are there. The descriptions are concise, but he packs 55 day trips into the book, one more interesting than the next.
