Clare manages to defeat the yoma, but expended too much of her yōki in the process, bringing her on the verge of "awakening." Raki's emotional and moral support enables her to revert back to normal.
In a flashback, Teresa, the strongest Claymore of her time, inadvertently saves a young, mute Clare. Seeing Teresa as her savior, Clare attempts to follow Teresa, despite Teresa's refusal to allow her to accompany her. After Teresa is accosted by a group of bandits, she allows Clare to follow her after seeing her determination. One of the bandits, who had gotten their hand cut off by Teresa the previous night, returns and attempts to rape Teresa, but is attacked by Clare. The bandit turns on Clare, but Teresa, willing to break Claymore law, which stipulates that Claymores cannot kill humans, forces the bandit to retreat. After this, Clare regains her sense of speech and reveals that she knew of Teresa's sorrow of having no purpose in life, causing Teresa to shed tears and embrace Clare.

Absolutely love Teresa of the Faint Smile; her name and her origins are absolutely beautifully portrayed. I also love how women are portrayed in Claymore. They're realistic and not over-sexualised. Absolutely fantastic.
It's becoming interesting. I thought I would really have to drop this manga, but someone commented in one of my post on social media, and I reconsider. I really hope it won't give me false hopes. LOL. But it is indeed getting interesting though. :)
This volume has probably one of the best character’s introductions I’ve ever read.
Teresa is the most powerful claymore there is, and unlike Clare, she always shows a faint smile on her face whenever she’s killing yoma. One time, she goes into a mission and kills 7 yoma in a matter of minutes, but in the aftermath of the job, a little orphan girl follows her around, even when she kicks her to the ground, so she won’t follow her.
And you might wonder who that is? Of course is young Clare, the little kid who was so hungry and so dehydrated, she almost dies until Teresa kind of takes care of her, as if she were a pet. Truth be told, this flashback is a bit heartbreaking because the only reason Clare followed Teresa was because “she had the same sad eyes as her. She looked as she been hurt so much, she couldn’t handle it.”
I always love this trope: when some tough, badass, unbeatable character opens their heart to the most unexpected person.
And, not only do we get a female badass character right there, but someone who means a breaking point in Clare’s growth. Honestly, I don’t remember much of the anime, but I know her story did not end up well, and that hurts me a little bit more than it probably should.
Still, this manga has improved so damn much, I really can’t stop reading. These volumes are far too short and I’m eager to know what happens next!
not another badass claymore i have to automatically stan!! teresa is so powerful i love her. i loved the way she was introduced and her insight into the organization’s dubious operations as well. also, the found family vibes in this series is simply insane!!
i cried a bit from the reveal of some of clare’s background i wasn’t expecting that. it was so sad. i have to say though my girl clare really got her ass beat at the end of the last volume and in this volume😭. but i know she’s going to come back stronger. really excited to get to the next volume!
Volume three of Claymore wraps up Clare's mission to take out the yoma from Rabona and then launches into the story of a new character, Teresa, whom we find out during the last pages of the volume .
I have given all of the volumes 5 stars so far, but this one might be my favorite yet. Can I give a book 6 stars? I found myself really drawn to the new Claymore, Teresa, in a way that I wasn't instantly drawn to Clare. She's a little more likable, if not still just as matter-of-fact about killing. I'm curious to see where her story goes or if that's all we'll see from her.
I agree with a lot of the other reviewers in that it is difficult to tell the male characters apart from each other. In fact, multiple times I thought that some of the men showing up in Teresa's story were men Clare met in Rabona .
That small issue aside, I am loving this series! It's brutal in a way I didn't expect and yet it's not just fighting and killing. Claymore is about servitude, identity, mental fortitude, and loneliness. It's about strong women who are looked down upon by society. It's about people hardening because of life's many tribulations. And so much more.
I was gifted the first three volumes of Claymore as a Christmas present, and now I need to figure out how I'm going to locate the others!!
En la primer mitad es la conclusión al encuentro con el Yoma de la catedral, buena pelea. La segunda mitad es la historia de otra Claymore llamada Teresa Momento sentimental al final del volumen.
The whatever it was called religous city part: 3 out of 5
The Teresa and the nameless girl part: 5 stars
So I give it 4 stars( I just didn't like that city and its people and also I sense the author wants the boy to get romanticaly involved with Clare and I don't like this direction )
I really hope this part of the timeline continues in the next volume I like it better than the present
This was such a great volume and like focuses on their fight with the Yoma in the town of Rabo and the way they defeat him is epic and the moment when Raki saves her is my favorite part.
Plus seeing Teresa and how she was this wandering spirit and met young Clare and how they both saved each other was such an emotional story. It's the best part of the volume and clearly reads so much better.
This was a great volume and gets you up to speed on who Clare was and her connection with Teresa and her warmth feelings for Raki and how she relates to him. The art was so good. Each panel so detailed and what not. The writer really bringing his A game with this one. Loved this quite a lot compared to other volumes.
Seriously this one of the best manga/comic series of all time!!! So good and right now (I'm not being paid or anything, just free pub for helping you guys!) it's around 6$/volume at : https://www.chapters.indigo.ca/en-ca/... Great boxed set and an awesome series!! I had high expectation and it surpass it all! Awesome!
Around 10 years ago, I've watched the anime and have been wishing to finally read the series (the anime differs from the manga story-line, and it does not even cover all chapters). Around 10 years ago, I've seen how Clare came to live with Teresa and how a bond of trust and love had been created between them, but it wasn't up until now that I've finally understood what it means to prefer dying along someone you love rather than fleeing back to a secure life.
4.5/5 As suspected volume 3 quickly wraps up the Voracious Eater plot line. Then it jumps into Teresa of the faint smile. A beautifully written and drawn arc introducing us to Teresa and delving into Clare's origins.
The volume's are still a little too quick for my liking but it really is an excellent dark fantasy manga.
I am developing strong emotions towards Teresa. I love the storyline and where it's going. We have no idea who Clare is. And why was she the only Claymore who knocked volunteerly on the door of the organization. You see love growing between Teresa and Clare. They are both given purpose.
Thus ends the original three volumes I read years ago. Now I start collecting the rest of the series! Everything from this point on, I've never read before. I'm enjoying myself a lot so far, and I want to know as much more about Clare and Raki as I can.
