Teresa, a powerful Claymore, saves a young girl from her bandit captors and leaves the child in the care of some villagers. But triumph quickly gives way to despair when the situation takes a tragic turn, and Teresa is forced to kill a human - an act that will condemn her to death at the hands of her own kind.

Some low-life bandits attack a small village in revenge of Teresa not taking their shit, but among Claymores, they have a rule: to not attack humans, only yoma, not even if the humans are scumb like these men.
She breaks this rule and kills them all so she could save Clare once again. She’s taking care of her, as if she were her little sister, so she doesn’t regret giving her life if that means she can be safe.
Now, the organization sends the claymores ranked from #2 to #5, and so, we have really cool scenes of Teresa fighting against the other 4 claymores. We also get a little bit information about them and their special abilities.
Truth be told, these volumes are far too short, or perhaps that’s because the chapters are filled with action scenes. Either way, I can’t wait to read the next!
The story really picks up steam - the continuation of the origin story of Clare gives us the occasion to reflect upon the role of Claymores, and the rebellion of Teresa - the second reading revealed a more political book than I expected. Teresa not only rebels against her organization due to her act of justice - she notices that justice is far from the organization's objectives, and she understands that there is another meaning to her life. Clare offers her that meaning, but not the meaning that the organization set for her. So she rebels, knowing full well what awaits her.
The stacking of powers by levels is immature, and I think that the oversimplification of the levels is really problematic overall. Also, I'm a bit bothered by the splitting of the stories that go across volumes. Teresa of the Faint Smile ends here, and Marked for Dead starts here but doesn't end (it does in the next volume). And it's a shame, since this would've been solved with slightly thicker previous volumes - and, perhaps, they would've saved a volume or two.
I have to say this review is completely biased because I loved the anime so much and so far there aren't really any deviations.
Also, c'mon, what's not to love here: a rich dark fantasy world, bunch of well-rounded kickass female warriors with cool nicknames, tragedy, revenge, great action scenes, mystery? It's easy to overlook any flaws. 4.5
This was a great volume as we follow Teresa and Clare and they get attacked by thiefs and seeing her friend in danger she breaks the code and goes after the humans and maybe unalives them and takes on her sisters and even battles them. The great betrayal happens and she is marked for death by the guild. What will happen next when Sophia, Noel, Ilena and Priscilla target her and will she survive?
This was a great volume and just shows the cost of betrayal and how we often do that to protect out loved ones and seeing their bond is awesome and just the action scenes when she takes on the sister and learning more about Teresa and her powers and all is just epic and makes this a scintillating read and the art is just so gorgeous again. The art is on another level the east with which they draw the action scenes.

Hey I wanted to read one issue a week for 27 week, taking it slowly I though, I read four in two days. If you love manga or comic and haven't read it your're missing something!! I just saw that there is also an animate based on it... gonna finish reading first but I'm very curious to have a look at it!! If you have don't hesitate to give me your though, spoiler free please!!!
World: The art is superb and the sense of motions is fantastic. The world building is also strong with no info dumping and pieces when we need it. We get a glimpse of the Claymore organization and the past.
Story: The end of the Teresa arc was pretty beautiful and emotionally satisfying and with the new Marked for Death arc it's a continuation of that. Wow there is a lot of fighting here and it's so well done. There are some quiet moments in between and Yagi takes advantage of it for all the emotional bits he can squeeze out of those few pages. The emotions are good but they are not deep and that's not the point of the story, it's to make us care and I do indeed care when the blades start slashing.
Characters: Clare is well done and this arc she's more of an observer like Raki was in the last 2 arcs. This time around with Teresa it's really well done and continues on her journey and the end result is eared at the town in the inn. The new Claymores are basic but done well and the stakes and their drive is very easy to understand and enjoy.
5/5 So disappointingly quick. This volume was excellent the art was beautiful and the action is top notch. So little dialog though that you finish the volume in 20 minutes.
Teresa traveling with Clare are hunted by other Claymore's for Teresa breaking certain covenants of the "Claymores". However Teresa doesn't take her punishment and decides to fight back.
This volume introduces 4 more Claymores and explains that they have a ranking system based on who is the most powerful. Teresa being number one and a new comer named Priscilla as number 2.

Interesante
Oh yes!! I think it's getting interesting... also, Teresa is really pretty!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!! I like the concept that's it's like GIRL POWER kind of manga with women as leading characters. Which is great! The drawing also got better! Thank goodness!
I forgot to write a review of this when I read it, but it was only a couple days ago, so it's still fresh. The flashback arc is incredible, and Teresa is a top character of the series. A lot of cool action and a neat look into Clare's backstory and motivations. Really put the series plot into perspective.
