You all know how much I hate the "Alpha Asshole" man. There is nothing that will get my hackles raised quicker than some AA pushing a girl around "for her own good", or ignoring her when she say's no - but it's okay because "her body betrays her" and she really does want him. This guy, Decker, triggered me faster than a mansplainer.

Yeah, I'm gonna need a gun over here...

Decker treats his life-mate worse than any of the previous vamp guys ever have, and they are all a lot older than him, so he can't blame "old fashioned" ideas about women as an excuse. He grabs her by the arm so many times to force her to do something that she is going to start looking like one of those old Stretch Armstrong dolls that has been overused:

Okay, maybe the long arms will be beneficial sometimes. At least he won't have to be the douche with the selfie-stick.

You know how many times my husband has grabbed me by the arm to stop me from walking here or there, or to spin me around to force me to listen to him, or to force intimacy? NONE. That's right, he has done that zero times in our almost 30 years of knowing each other. Because it is disrespectful, rude, a bully tactic... not to mention dangerous - for him! Yeah, a man trying that shit on me would lose an appendage.

Aww, now I'm less angry. Thank you, bears. You always fix everything.

Decker also keeps saying that she's cute when she's angry. That's another thing that I hate. When a man is angry, he is never cute. He is dangerous or scary. He is taken seriously. But, when an AA sees his woman get angry (for serious reasons), he smiles or chuckles because she is so cute. Isn't that just the cutest face she makes when she's freaking out about her sister possibly being tortured and raped by a madman? Aww, she's adorable. Look at her little face getting all red! Look at her cute little huffy expression! I'm so glad she is my property now. Let me just grab her arm and order her to stay out of the way while the big strong men take care of everything. She needs to go get all prettied up for when I get back from my man-work and want food and sex from her.

Not you too, Superman!

Which brings up the next point as to why this book was a suck-fest. This couple is humping like bunnies all over the place, every second, while her teenage sister is in the hands of a raping, torturing, murderer! Is this really the best way to use their time? Could they possibly be doing something actually useful towards saving the kid? Not to mention the fact that maybe it's disrespectful to act like a cat in heat right now. AND, I would think that knowing what her sister is going through would be a slight buzz-kill in the terms of sex. I know that when I hear a story of some poor girl being kidnapped, raped, tortured, and killed on the news, all I want to do is jump my husband's bones. And, I don't even know those girls. Just think how horny it would make me if it was a relative!

Yup.
So, basically, I didn't like anything about this book. And, I'm not even mentioning the fact that, once again, there isn't an actual ending to the story.
So, here's how I will wrap up my review.
Decker?

No-fangers and the McGill girls!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💙💚🖤💛❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌎
Character development: 🧐😕😍😗😳

The heroine: Danielle McGill - Dani is a doctor, her and her younger sister were on their way home from a family reunion when they stopped for gas and were taken by a group of no-fangers (immortals without fangs who are crazy and kill humans without compunction).

The Hero(s): Decker Argeneau Pimms - an enforcer and rogue hunter. Decker is 259 years old and no longer enjoys eating or physical pleasure. While chasing his cousin Nicholas who is a rogue immortal, they come across a gang of no-fangers who have kidnapped two girls.

The Story: Decker and the hunters are able to save Dani from the no-fangers, but the leader of the group escapes with Dani’s 15 year old sister Stephanie. Decker is unable to read or control Dani and realizes that she is his life mate. He has to make Dani trust him and tell her that they are immortals without scaring her away.

This book follows the format set forth by many of the prior books in this series. Though the action is even more suspenseful due to the fact that the bad guy(s) have young Stephanie and could be doing anything to her and the only person who might be close to finding them is Nicholas who is a rogue immortal with dubious reasons for trying to help.

There were a few things I didn’t like about the story. First of which is the way they always seem to leave the women behind while the men go to do things and the woman left alone ends up getting kidnapped almost every time. Second is that when someone is kidnapped and finally gets back to the enforcers, they don’t immediately tell them what they found out from the kidnapper, but that always seems like it is no problem to wait until later. If it was me being kidnapped, I would want them to know these things right away. But overall the story was great and I still plan to read more.

The narration was done by Victoria McGee and was fine. Though I like dual narration best.

^^WILL KEEP COMING BACK FOR MORE!^^

I really do I enjoy this series, it always like a little home coming for me. I know these characters and love them. Moreover, it’s like having vamps in my backyard, all these vampires on the streets of Toronto is never a bad thing. This book is the 2nd in the Rogue Hunter series and the 11th book in the Argeneau series, and why would I stop now.

Anything new and exciting to report not really. It’s the same whole concept, man finds life-mate she is human and once again the explanation of the whole vampire thing has to be explained. I keep going back, because it is funny and this family of vampires is just one of a kind, and in this series the Argeneau’s rule the bloody world.

So woman in distress, sexy vamp man to the rescue, mind-blowing sex that causes blackouts, the same old, same old.

New development and I am not sure whether I like it or not. Fangless vampires! Yeh I said Fangless, am I the only one who just doesn’t find that very sexy. Its all about the bite and cutting your victim to drink from them brings up some serious issues. Its no wonder most fang free vamps are crazy, I would be crazy too, if I wanted to bring my vamp street cred, and then disappoint with “oh my, I’m really sorry, but I need to make a small incision to drink from you”. Yep, not sexy at all.

Overall, I really did like this one, the characters are safe and this one doesn’t have the normal HEA, and ends with a bit of cliff-hanger and I am just dying to know what’s gonna happen next. This is pure happy fluff, and if you like happy fluff then this series is the one for you. With so many books, it’s quite clear that some are better than others, and this is one of the better ones.

This is book number 11 in Lyndsay Sand's Argeneau Vampire series. This series does not HAVE to be read in order, however, for this book, I at least recommend reading book #10 (The Rogue Hunter) because it continues some of the plot from that previous book. As for why this book only got 3 stars when Ms. Sands usually writes 4 or 5 star quality books...? There are a few reasons why. First, the book's plot is continued YET again. Yes, there is a satisfactory conclusion with the hero (Decker) and the heroine (Danielle). However, the rogue vampires have gotten away... again! Second, Ms. Sands brings in a "different race" of vampires, of whom she has NEVER, EVER mentioned before: the no-fangers. And there are the dreaded evil/crazy no-fangers and good/non-crazy no-fangers that have a fancy-schmansy name, I cannot think of it off the top of my head let alone spell it. If these no-fangers are so bad... then why haven't we heard of them EVER before? Why? Well, because Ms. Sands needs some fresh ideas to re-vamp (pun intended) her vamp series. Ehhhhhh, I know a series needs to be freshened up a little bit now and again, but could you have at least come up with something a little more believable?

The chemistry between the Decker and Danielle was okay. Certainly nothing like her other books. Danielle's sister (Stephanie) was kidnapped by one of the members of the no-fangers rogue vampire group. The group originally had Danielle too, but Decker and his enforcer partner, Justin surprised the group and saved Danielle, but unfortunately, one of the no-fangers got away with Stephanie. So, the romance takes place while Decker and Danielle try to follow Stephanie and the rogue no-fanger. I won't give the rest away, but I can tell you that the rest of the book was pretty predictable (except for the no-fangers of course).

Another Yummy book by Lynsay Sands. Unlike some of the other reviews I read about this book - I enjoy the fact that the book didn't wrap up all the plot lines in a neat little bow. It allows a little more complexity to the plot and room for other books to contain ties to previous books. I HATE having to wait until the next book comes out in October - but am anxious to find out what happens with some of the characters we were introduced to in this book.

As with all the books in these series (Argeneau Vampires) there was some great steamy sex scenes. They rolled around on stacks of hay in a barn. Did the nasty in a closet... I don't know if they ever actually made whoopy in a bed now that I am thinking about it. Huh.

Anyway - Good steam heat and a fun plot. Just enough mystery and danger to keep you rivited.

Is it October yet?

Decker is such the strong silent type. I giggled at his inner frustration at with the chattiness of his temporary partner. There's a bit more action in this one as well. Rogues are causing lots of trouble and have kidnapped two sisters. Of course the hunters have their work cut out for them in trying to track down the two rogues who managed to escape.

I liked Decker and Danielle as a couple even though of course as per usual with this series it's very insta-lovey. Still as a whole I really enjoyed this read, especially because there was more action and not just a meet, fall instantly in love, and then deal with immortal misunderstandings.

4.25 stars. It took only a short time to listen to this today. I actually didn’t put it down except for having to run errands. I found it to be way better than the book before this as this book answered a lot of the questions left dangling from that book. This one was Decker and Danni’s story but we do get to see the main characters from the last book as well. This one had a lot more action going on, suspense and violence. I also enjoyed the romance. So far for me, this one is the most unique of the series and since I’m not reading them in order that means out of most of the series. Not going into the why of what makes it unique. If you like vampire romance and haven’t read any of these, you might really enjoy them. Recommended!

This was a good addition to the series. Tons of action and the MCs were likable. I enjoyed it and thought that the suspense part was the best in the series. I was actually nervous and wondering how it would work out. Decker was a good hero and Dani handled the crazy pretty well.

These books are blurring together so I just do not have that much to say about them individually. But I am sticking with the series for now.

I really was just not all that impressed with this book. It had it's funny moments (mostly coming from the hero's partner) but was nowhere near Lynsay Sands' usual quality. The plot itself... *shakes head* We're 11 books into the series. There have been rogues mentioned throughout the entire series. And now, just now, we're finally learning about this one group of them (the no-fangers) that are just so evil and nasty, and that apparently make a ton of new vampires on a regular basis? Really? That seems like a pretty big thing not to be mentioned at some point (ANY point) earlier than book 11. It really just felt like the author needed a plot for this book so decided to add this big bad group to her world. Plus now that the heroine is an edentate (the word for a non-crazy vamp without fangs), they have someone working on a cure at least enough so she can have babies. They've been around since the days of Atlantis, but they've JUST NOW started working on a cure? Or if they've had someone else working on it for years, the person they have working on it now has been around for hundreds of years. I guess there's never been the time to work on a cure, not until some chick feels the need to breed.

When I first began reading Lynsay Sands' Argeneau vampire series, I was a little put-off by the premise of the vampires. Seriously? Vampires as creations of science from mythical, long-lost Atlantis? C'mon...
But! I must add that once I got past the concept and into the plots themselves, I thoroughly enjoyed each book.
The author has a marvelous way of expressing the heady rush of passion and intensity of emotion that fires the onset of love, or at least lust. This book, introduces some new concepts in her usual plot scenario of immortal finds mate, woos mate, turns mate into immortal. I like the new elements and I liked the story, which picked up almost immediately where The Rogue Hunter left off.
The only thing I truly yearn for are more stories about the women finding their mates instead of it always being a male immortal. In twelve books, we've only had two female leads. Let the ladies take charge, Lynsay! Oh, and I'm VERY interested in the rogue immortal named Nicholas! I truly hope this isn't the last we've heard of him! Let's see a story from his POV!
Good read, with the usual caveat of, "why is it that the instant a strong woman runs into her paranormal paramour she turns into a puddle of girly-goop?" Just sayin'...

I still like the series. She has a formula that she uses very effectively. I always like her characters and enjoy the adventure and romance, despite recognizing said formula, the books are consistently enjoyable and I look forward to more in the series. If you like humorous romance novels, you'll like these books.

Series: Argeneau #11; Rogue Hunter #2
Rating: 3.5 stars

Dr. Danielle McGill doesn’t expect to be kidnapped with her younger sister on her way back from a family vacation. While she is rescued by a trio of men, her sister wasn’t. Now she is racing to save her sister and dealing with the revelation that vampires are real, and she is apparently the life mate to one.

After the previous rogue hunters book not having a lot of rogue storyline, I was expecting this to be the same. But it wasn’t. This one focuses almost exclusively on the hunt to stop a rogue group and to rescue a 15 year old girl. This really helped the story keep a fast pace and didn’t feel as much of a drag as the previous one.

I also liked that this book expands the world of the immortals by showing that not all immortals are the same. There are Edentate immortals who don’t have fangs and have a higher chance of being crazy during the turn. This is an interesting revelation and brings about a whole new kind of rogue because they slowly kill their victims with cuts instead of just draining them with fangs. Sands is doing a decent job at trying to keep this world interesting and expand what is there.

Dani was an enjoyable heroine. She is a determined woman who refuses to let others dictate her fate, even when they can control her. She isn’t afraid to stand up to Decker and doesn’t let him dictate his actions. I liked her a lot, especially since she doesn’t let the Argeneau’s views on Nicholas impact her views on him.

Decker is a 259 year old hunter and wasn’t expecting to find his life mate at a rogue camp. For me, I didn’t really love Decker. He was a fine hero but he just doesn’t stand out to me compared to some of the previous heros. Dani and Decker’s relationship evolves over their race to save her sister. In the beginning, there is a lot of tension between the two because Decker doesn’t really know how to act around Dani and she isn’t sure she can trust them. I enjoyed their relationship for the most part, more so in the second half of the book after she finds out about immortals.

Overall, this was an action packed addition to this series. I enjoyed the couple for the most part but the action kept me hooked. I am excited to jump into the next book because Nicholas Argeneau is considered a rogue and I really want to know more about what happened to him.

TW: kidnapping; mass death; threat of rape; death of pregnant wife in car accident mentioned; murder of pregnant woman mentioned; suicide mentioned;

Look have I read worse that was written back in 2009? Yes. I’ve read worse that was written in 2024. That being said Dani didn’t start off annoying but quickly got there. Not a fan of insta love but I knew that’s what I was getting into with this one so I was prepared. I did enjoy the interesting vampire lore/worldbuilding but I’d say that’s about it. 3 stars cause it could have been way worse and even though I ended up skimming at the end I didn’t dnf.

the immortal hunter

it was probably better the first time.

i am reading these and forcing myself to read these because i have newer ones and
i can't read them because i don't recognize the characters

so i am rereading the entire series, in hopes that i will be able to read the ones i never read

it was ok, it flowed, but i had a hard time paying attention andnot getting distracted
by other things

felt bad for mortimer, steph and dani

some of it was cute thought, the situations they found themselves in

The three Council Enforcers - Mortimer, Justin and Decker - are still at Decker's Muskoka cottage after finding the immortal they thought was snacking on mortal's necks in the area, only to find that he isn't responsible for all the snacking. Now they learn that the rogue Nicholas was seen in the area and rush to catch him. Decker and Justin find Nicholas surprisingly quickly: indeed, he's been waiting for them to help him flush out a nest of no-fanger rogues who've captured two human women. Lacking fangs, the crazy no-fangers must slice cuts on the bodies to drink from them. Two other women have already been used and discarded at the bottom of a ravine.

The "nest" of six no-fangers is subdued but two got away, one using the youngest victim, fifteen year old Stephanie, as a hostage. While Nicholas tears off after them, Decker and Justin are left with Stephanie's older sister Dani and four temporarily immobilised immortals. When Decker realises he can't read Dani's mind, he knows he's found his life mate.

Now the hunt is on to track down Stephanie and the no-fanger who kidnapped her (again), while Dani is abducted by the father of the gang, Leonius, who has his own sick plans for her.

I'm a big fan of this series, which makes it easy for me to overlook certain characteristics of the prose and characters that would otherwise bother me. Sands injects humour and realism into an otherwise "unreal" fantasy series, but does sometimes get bogged down in describing exact movements - though to be fair, having struggled through vague and impossible descriptions in Christine Feehan's books, I do appreciate it.

There aren't many differing characteristics between characters - the women tend to be quite similar, as are the men - but while you're reading the book you get quite attached to them. The men especially are sexy but adorable, but they do tend to slip into two-dimensional land once their book is over.

The Immortal Hunter expands on the history and background of the vampiric premise - which is highly original, though many people don't like it for the same reasons they don't like the changes to vampires in the Twilight books. The introduction of Leonius as a mad evil bastard added a new level of excitement and suspense, and the ending is a bit of a cliff-hanger with some mysteries yet to be revealed.

In a way, my humble disappointment with this book stems merely from a lack of time the main characters, Decker and Dani, got to spend together that wasn't spent explaining things (things you'll already know if you've read the previous books). That's the downside to having no strict order to this series: the origins etc. of these vampires is explained, to varying degrees, in each book as each new woman is introduced to it. Still, Sands does try to approach it differently each time so as not to bore you.

***
Just in case you're interested in trying this book or one of the others, but have no idea where to start (I get asked for help in this area quite a bit), here's the running list:

The Argeneau Vampire Series:
1. A Quick Bite
2. Love Bites
3. Single White Vampire
4. Tall, Dark & Hungry
5. A Bite To Remember
6. Bite Me If You Can
7. The Accidental Vampire
8. Vampires Are Forever
9. Vampire, Interrupted
(Rogue Hunter Triology)
10. The Rogue Hunter
11. The Immortal Hunter
12. The Renegade Hunter (coming soon)

Luckily, this is one of those series where it doesn't really matter what order you read them in. I started with Single White Vampire, probably the most light-hearted and silly one of the bunch and a great place to start, and I also loved Bite Me If You Can and Vampire, Interrupted (very fitting title for that storyline). The only one I haven't read yet is Love Bites, though I do have it. The earlier books started off as more humorous than not but have lately taken a darker turn. This trilogy does follow one from the other, but again, Sands writes in such a way that it's not especially necessary to read them in order. It's nice if you do though :)

After going hunting in search of a rogue vampire, who is also his cousin, Nicholas, one who has been on the run for over fifty years. Now they are following his very obvious trail, which leaves Decker worried. But then when they catch up to him, they join him in hunting down six dangerous vampires who have captured two innocent women, sisters. But after they take down five of them, one of them escapes with the youngest girl, and the one left behind with her rescuers are Decker and Justin. Nicholas is out of their range once more. But their attention is focused on Dani who is desperate to find her sister, and she turns out to be Decker's lifemate. Decker is stunned at first, and finds this revelation to be unexpected, but he knows he has to earn her trust, however he keeps lying to her, which prevents her from trusting him and intent on finding her sister. However even though Dani is determined to find her sister, who is only fifteen, there is a chemistry between her and Decker, and even though she doesn't trust him, she is drawn to him and finds herself falling hard and fast for him....The Immortal Hunter is part of two series written by Lynsay Sands....its the eleventh installment in the Argeneau series, and the second in the rogue hunter series. The Immortal Hunter takes the reader on a thrilling ride of suspense, adventure and romance. There is such a intensity about this story, where two people find each other, when if certain events hadn't ever occured they might have never have found one another, acts although done is violence, brought about a silver lining. There was also such a witty rapore between the characters in this book, and it was great to see characters from other books involved in this story as well such as Lucian (who is my personal favorite) and Samantha (whom anyone that has read her story just adores her) so it was lovely to see it all come together in this story, and looking forward to reading the next one in the series: Nicholas' story...I can hardly wait....this series so far has been such a delightful dessert to read!!
"You do, just by being here. I can't imagine facing all this alone" She slipped her hand into his, squeezing it. "I guess that's what love is, sharing the good and the bad, the happy and the sad"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The few and the proud are the U.S. Marines," Justin, informed her, seeming rather amused "We CSIS men..."he paused to cast a taunting glance toward Decker and then continued "We CSIS guys are the Cute, Strong, Intelligent, and Sexy" In the looks department the man fit the James Bond image of a spy, she thought. It was just a shame that he was missing the "intelligent" from the Cute, Strong, Intelligent, and Sexy quota.
This book was a funny installment in the Argeneau series for me. I'm finding some books in this series are really good and some are really bad. This one was the first that was both.
The Immortal Hunter features Decker Argeneau, who is Martine, Jean-Claude's sister's son.
Decker is a rogue hunter for the Council. His current job is to find out who the rogue is that is biting people in a small town in Ontario. The book picks up directly from the last book in that Decker and Justin are on a hunt after Nicholas Argeneau, and are led to a group of rogues having captured two women - Dani and her sister Stephanie.
After rescuing Dani, Decker finds out that she's his lifemate, but neither can really focus on this because Stephanie has not been rescued. The rest of the story is about how Decker and Dani's relationship progresses as well as how they go about finding out what's happened to Stephanie.
This book was so up and down. Some parts of it were really exciting, especially the beginning. I found it quite fast paced and thought I was in for another good Argeneau installment. Then midway through the book I was proven wrong, as it got so slow that I was going days at a time with only reading a chapter. This barely ever happens to me. Then the last chapter in the book picked up again and left some great cliffhangers for the next installment.
Anyway, I don't know if I'd recommend this one, but if you're reading the whole series I think it's needed to understand the next book.
Book 11 in the Argeneau series, The Immortal Hunter, is the 2nd book in the connected Rogue Hunter mini-series. Decker, a Council Enforcer, finds Dani and her sister when dealing with a group of rogue vampires. The Enforcers manage to save Dani, but a rogue escapes and takes her sister with him. Decker has to work on gaining Dani's trust after he discovers she is his life-mate while continuing the search for her sister.
This series is one of my comfort reads and has been since I first met the Argeneau family back in 2004 or so. When I find a series I enjoy, I go back and re-read all the books from the beginning before shortly before a new one comes out. Considering the 37th book in the series comes out in a few months, it was time to dive into this world again. At this point, I've read some of the books in the series over 30 times and still enjoy them as much as I did the first time.
Having various characters do occasionally stupid things just to move the plot forward doesn't do it for me. It also has somewhat of a cliffhanger ending, no doubt to ensure that the reader will buy the next book. I will buy it because yes, I want to know how the story arc works out and because I know how great Lynsay Sands vampire books usually are, but not because of this one.
It was my least favorite book of the series. I understand that the series has its formula, which can have its enjoyable moments, but by this point, every story is starting to blend together. In this story, Decker and Dani, the hero and heroine, spent entirely too much time being alternately frustrating and annoying. Dani and her sister are kidnapped by an insane rogue vampire, and Dani is saved while they spend the rest of the book trying to get her sister back. That they were boinking all over creation while her sister was missing just turned me off and frankly, it was difficult to finish. Even if you like this series, this is one to skip.
I am just in love with the Argeneau Series, there isn't a book in this series that I just don't love. I think it's the humor, along with the passion that gets me. These books always give me a good laugh or two. This one though was different, it wasn't as funny as the others but it still made me smile a lot. And there's a difference with this book as to the other's... but you will have to read it to find out cause I'm not going to tell you and ruin the fun of finding out. Just take my word when I say its one you want to sink your teeth in, pun definitely intended.
I like Decker and Dani 's story better than the previous one But not by much.
Still a cute read though I don't see much gripping moments
*Now they say MH370 is hijacked … *
** OMG the 'bomohs ' with coconuts and ratan basket and umbrella in penguin suit no less! I know it's not right to laugh at people's belief But honestly those four are obviously attention seekers*
***Feeling so embarrassed for being a Malaysian ***
A great second book, a continuation from the first book The Rogue Hunter, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The great thing is that it doesn't have to be read in order to understand the plot, love this series.
I truly enjoyed this book. I love Lynsay Sands books. She can draw u right into the story and the characters.
Two characters that were made for each other and love each other with all of their hearts can enjoy a long and happy life together as a couple for eternity.
