Mario must outwit Bowser, Lemmy Koopa, and their fiendish accomplice, the Monster Mixer - and only the reader can make the choices that allow him to do so. There are codes to crack, puzzles to solve and mazes to conquer.

I had such a high expectations on this one considering the fun I had with the previous two books in the series : ( ,, Sadly it wasn't up the the challenge, but still i'm going to give it 3 starts cuz it's a Mario book/ game! This time, the evil Koopa attempts to create an army of monsters using a huge mixing machine. Bowser's have been working in the dark and fast; he have raised an army of monsters to take over the Mushroom Kingdom. With the friends being all imprisoned, the only hope left falls in the hands of Mario ... and Toad -.- (no offence to toad's fans). Toad tagged along like an annoying mosquito that won't go away no matter what; It was a very lonely, long and miserable quest, sometimes I even gave up. I died so many times in this adventure to the point I stopped counting lol; I was disappointed there was no hints or puzzles to set you on the right track. Sometimes the directions don't make sense and the story repeats itself or just becomes incoherent.
The next book appears to be all about Luigi <3 I'm very excited and I hope the story is well consistent.
Kind of frustrating of a read though my score isn't as low as it would be due to nostalgia. Basically monsters are being mixed up by Bowser. Unfortunately the puzzles and general convolution ruin this. It'd too easy to make a mistake and get looped around or get a game over. It ending is interesting at least.
I could check it out at least once if you have the chance but only if you don't mind rereading things when you have to loop.
Admittedly, I am not the target audience for this. I don't play Mario Kart. I did when I was younger but as a child playing a game in their second language, I retained none of their names and I don't know who is who. But as far as choose your own adventure books go, this isn't that bad. It just isn't memorable. Although it's pretty gruesome, if that's the right word. Pick this book if you like Mario universe and would like to be surprised.
This is a great book, especially for fans of the Mario Brothers! My son was so happy to get this book, which is a choose-your-own-adventure. You also get to keep track throughout the story of your points and items, and every time you read it and make decisions you get a different outcome.
This is a book we won't be swapping -- it's a keeper!
