World of Darkness: Chicago

Chicago isn't corrupt.
It's passionate.
Genuine.
Willing to do whatever it takes
to be the city it wants to be.

And corrupt.

- Maxwell, Vampire Prince of Chicago

Chicago encompasses everything needed for you in order to run a chronicle around this dark-themed city. The city is ruled by a vampire prince but there is a place for werewolves and mages to fit in the context.

Many vampire NPCs are detailed in the book - they are standing for most of the much-powered or trandsetters among the vampire society, from the prince himself to his uderdogs that lead by him and of-course the not-so-happy ones about the situation.

I havn't found a special reference to changelings (no surprise, this book was out even before everyone knew that Cangeling is going to be out there in nWoD) but will appreciate someone directing me to a reference (on the web, maybe?)

I even got to know the real Chicago in the process as it covers history and ties it in the campaign itself. The paintings are beautiful as ever with White-Wolf, I really consider this book one hell of a buy and a delicious reading.

Chicago was such a central setting for the old World of Darkness (especially Vampire: the Masquerade), I was curious to see the "new" version for the NEW World of Darkness. A setting fleshed out for Vampire: the Requiem, Werewolf: the Forsaken, and Mage: the Awakening. The treatment varies from the excellent to the merely good, but it never sucks. Some ideas that seem a little lame at first turn out to be pretty cool inspirational ideas the more you explore them (e.g. the concept of the "Celestial Flange" for Mage)

I'd been meaning to pick this up for a while and just got my hands on it. While I'm not familiar with the Werewolf stuff for the new WoD, the Vampire and Mage stuff in this book are both done quite well. The varied political and social convolutions between and within the different groups are enjoyably complex and engaging, and the city as a whole is well-developed as a setting. All in all a good piece of roleplaying writing.
