Kendall couldn’t believe her eyes. Standing before her was the man who had rejected her at the club. His steel gray eyes were amused as they gazed into her green ones. Fury took over her good sense as she stared at him. “Daddy, no!” she said angrily. “I don’t need a bodyguard, especially this one!” Her father frowned at her. “What do you mean, especially this one? Do you two know each other?” “Our paths crossed once,” said Logan, his eyes twinkling with mischief. He was enjoying this way too much. “Daddy, I don’t need….” “That’s enough!” St. John said sharply. “This man has been recommended by the security service as the best they have. And the most expensive, I might add. He is now your personal security. Learn to live with it.” Bristling with indignation, she turned around and ran up the stairs, feeling Logan’s eyes on her back as she went. But she resisted the urge to look back. When she got to her room, she slammed the door and threw herself on her bed. Shaking with fury, she threw her pillows across the room. A few minutes later, she heard noises in the guest room next to her suite. What was going on? She put her ear against the wall that divided the two rooms and heard furniture being moved and the closet door being opened. She opened her bedroom door and tiptoed to the other room. She couldn’t believe her eyes. Logan Steele had moved some of the furniture to have quicker access to the door. He also had put a large duffel bag down on the floor and had put some of his things in the closet. Suddenly, he turned around and spotted her. He grinned and said, “I guess you’re stuck with me for awhile.” “I don’t need you,” she declared. “Judging by what happened in your room, I’m going to have to disagree with you. My job is to keep you safe, regardless of your personal feelings or mine. Get used to it.” “Good luck keeping up with me,” she said smugly. “I have lots of experience keeping up with wayward children.” “I’m not a child!” she said, anger in her voice. “That’s debatable,” he said, a smile twitching at the corners of his mouth. She turned around and flew out of the room and back into hers. She could hear his chuckle before she slammed her door. How dare he treat her like this? She would show him that she could outsmart him!
Kendall has always had everything and any man she has ever wanted. Night after night she goes to the club with one goal. Pick a man out and make sure by the end of the night that he wants her. She feels that she has to prove to herself that someone wants her and she accomplishes this by picking up men at a local club. Kendall has never been turned down by anyone before, and now isn't sure what she should do with her night. So she ventures to the back room of the club, where only the owners are permitted to go. While trying to find something exciting to do, Kendall witnesses something that she shouldn't and ran. Now she can't remember what she saw that night and people are trying to kill her. Her father's solution to protecting her is to hire her a bodyguard.

Guardian Vampire was a surprisingly fast read. I finished it in a little under 3 hours. I just couldn't put it down, I was hanging on ever delicious word that Lauralynn Elliot was feeding me. Guardian Vampire has a little bit of something for everyone, it has romance, action, adventure, intrigue and mystery. It is a great all around read. I loved how the relationship developed between Logan and Kendall, how difficult it was for them to see past both of their stubbornness. It wasn't one of those books that you are immediately thrown into the two main characters having sex, because they find each other hot. There was time for them to get to know each other and to develop an attraction.
I would suggest this book to any adult. It is steamy and lustful but will give you that warm tingly feeling that love still exists and not all men are assholes. Unfortunately this one is a vampire and you will never have a chance with him.... but we can't help but have a little bit of hope... right ladies? If you are going to fall for a vampire, let it be Logan!
Whenever I buy a PubIt! ebook, the quality is going to be hit or miss. Guardian Vampire surprised me in a way no other PubIt! ebook has ever done before: it was well edited both in grammar and content. This is rarer than you might imagine. I read this little 192 page novella in one night of insomnia. It was quick, action packed, and enjoyable. So I'm surprised it doesn't have higher rating especially when compared to othe PubIt! ebooks like Immortal which made me want to rip my hair out with the lack of content editing and flat charaters. At first I couldn't stand the main charcter, Kendall St. John. She was spoiled, whiney, and shallow. And just when I was thinking the author really needs to add some likeable characteristics to Kendall, she did! Faced with her own mortality, Kendall grows up and matures. She even reveals an interest in books, a sense of lonliness she's had her own life, and tendencies towards charitable actions. I wish the author would have introduced some of these things early on because the damage was already done by the time Kendall changed her ways. My biggest issues: the cover. I admit I judge a book by its cover. And this cover is cheesy. I hope the author considers changing it. Another issue: the hero's name: Logan Steele. On a scale of cheesiness, the rates pretty high.
Overall a fairly good novella by Lauralynn Elliott. It was one of the better PubIt! ebooks I've read.
The premise of this book is a good one. The plot is solid and there is a twist at the end that makes it interesting. The characters were likeable, the two protagonists at least and you really enjoyed reading about them. Overall, I would have to say that it was a fun read with lots of action and romance on the side.
However, I have to admit that I was expecting a bit more in terms of description and execution in general. It is not that it was poorly written, because there were only a few grammatical or spelling mistakes, but the way the descriptions unfolded was a bit over-simplistic and well it lacked the depth that would make me connect to the characters feelings and pains throughout the story. I get that it is a short story but if the author had invested a little more time on elaborating on the situations and everything would have made it all the more exciting and interesting for me. But that is just me and like I said, all in all it was a good story.
Guardian Vampire by Lauralynn Elliott Kendall St. John loves playing her little games at the club. Proving to herself she’s irresistible to any man there, but stopping the game short of taking anyone home with her. Until one night, one man, her first rejection. Wandering off in a pout she witnesses something so horrible, her mind blocks it. And now someone wants to kill her.
Logan Steele is trying to protect his way of life and find out who is behind the disappearances of people from the club. The beautiful and spoiled rotten Kendall has the answer. He’s hired as her bodyguard, but finds himself having to protect her from the enemy and himself.
I liked the book when was younger and I'm not sure why.
I re-read the book in less than a day and found it very boring. The characters are one dimensional and somehow less intelligent than a five year old. The ML and FL have almost no chemistry but are obsessed with each other.
The biggest annoyance for me was how she keeps calling her dad 'Daddy' (she's 21 years old). I get that she's the spoilt rich kid but I wanted to punch her and yell GROW UP.
Was it an easy read - Yes Was this a good book - No Will I read it again - No Was it as bad as I was expecting - no at least i was able to finish it.
I read a lot of the independent authors that publish on Amazon and generally don't mind if a book is not quite what I expected but with this book I am really really sorry I wasted the .99
The idea/premise of this book is not a bad one, the actual execution of the story is a whole different matter.
The dialogue was childish and stilted and read more like a high school drama. The main character is 22 years old and comes off as a high school Buffy wanna be....
With some good editing work this could be a good story....but as it is now...don't waste your time
This was a truly terrible book. The essence of the story wasn't ridiculous by itself, but the execution was very poor. I'm actually surprised that I bothered to finish it: neither of the primary characters was in any way realistic or appealing, the dialogue was dumb, and I can make a drinking game about how many times she refers to food as "tasty." I plan to never read this book again, and there are plenty of fantasy romance books available that I don't think this one is worth the time.
A cute little story about a vampire that fell in love with a human.... under stressful events that are happen helps then fall in love with each other... it was a cute little story, at first it started out a little crazy i would of like to have a little back ground of the character before they suck you into the situation. It was a good little read to help pass the time though.

I really enjoyed the book. I'm a sucker for vampire stories and this one was right up my alley. I couldn't put it down. It's a fast and easy read that catches your attention right from the start. I read it in one sitting. I have this 4 stars because I don't feel like the story ended. If there had been a second book then this would definitely get 5 stars.
While I really enjoyed the story and found the characters likable, I just felt like something was missing. I would have liked to see the overall story developed a little more. The romance was stunted and forced, the action was okay, I just found it to be a little lacking.
This was a very good book it only took me a few hours to read but I am a very fast reader when I pick up something I like. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes vampire romance novels but be warned the suspense might kill you. =)
This was a quick read, very enjoyable and the characters are very strong. It was easy to work out who the bad guy was but the ending was very unpredictable. Hope to see more from these characters in new adventures!
if it wasn't for Kendall's constant whining it would have been better, i mean your 22 yrs old stop acting like your 15 already. really enjoyed Logan's character. dark and sexy but his humor popped out every once in a while.
Good story but it annoyed me that the main chick was whiney and immature all book then all of a sudden she was mature. I couldn't get past her whiney self to accept her as mature.
I wanted to give the book three stars, but I thought the female lead was too weak, clingy, and rather stupid in her decision-making. A stronger lead female would have made it more interesting.
