Poison Apple #7

Curiosity Killed the Cat

Rate this book
Poison Apple Books: Thrilling. Bone-chilling. These books have bite!

Hannah isn't thrilled to be moving in with her dad and his new family, who live right next to a spooky cemetery. Luckily, Hannah doesn't believe all the "ghost cat" stories she's heard about the graveyard.

Not so luckily, the cemetery is the least of Hannah's troubles. Her stepsister, Madison, is the meanest girl in Hannah's grade. Her cat, Icky, has been missing since the move. And worst of all, Hannah can't sleep at night: Something keeps scratching at her door, but when she looks for it, nothing is ever there! Hannah's starting to wonder -- could those scary stories be true after all?

This book is amazing! The book is short but there is alot of adventure and details in the book. It also has alot of mysteries. The book is about a girl named Hannah with divorced parents. Her mom is moving to Chicago so Hannah is living with her dad, her stepmom, and her stepsister. It just so happens that Hannah's sister, Madison is the most popular girl but also really mean. Later she also discovers that her cat is missing for days. However, every night she hears scratching at her door. She wonders if it's Icky her cat but nothing is there. Then the adventure begins for Hannah to find what is making that noise and her to find her cat. There is also a bit of romance in this book which makes it better...:)

This was a very interesting book to read! there is this girl named hannah and it tell that she is moving to a new house because her mom was moving to another state and she had to move in with her dad, step mom, and her MEAN step sister. The house that she is moving to is in sleepy hollows and before she moved to her new house there her cat got lost and everynight there would be a scratching nosies at her door. There is a story about a little cat the romes around the grave yard and if you follow it u would get killed like the frist girl that got killed. this book is amazing and i hope that other people read it and if u like ghost and all that scary things. THIS IS THE RIGHT BOOK FOR YOU :) so i hope that some people will read this boo!!

wow! my first poison apple book! so exciting!
well that's how i felt when i reached home after purchasing this book from the book fair. i'm not mentioning the summary. for that please refer to the other reviews.

i liked the cover a lot, it was cool. but hey! i'm not an idiot that i would buy a book just because it had a cool cover page(duh-uh!) i liked the read the summary at the back and decided to buy it, it was a tough choice though coz' there were a lot of other great books from the poison apple range.

the starting- ordinary, but the u can never expect the book to be great in the first few pages. a girl studying in the seventh grade-really sad about moving into a new house with her dad and her stepmother- she's got a really mean sister n blah-de-blah-de-blah!

when the real story got started- it actually got really good. i was loving it. i should tell that the story of the ghost cat was scary.
i was really happy that i bought this book.i liked chapter 10 coz' it was then when hannah actually started to say something against her mean step sis Madison Van Meter.(found the name quiet weird)
i especially enjoyed this bit-

"Well, you can believe whatever you want, but I like the cemetery," Hannah challenged. Her words were punctuated by a burst of drilling noises from the house, indicating that the contractors had started their work for the day. "It's peaceful, quiet, and relaxing there. Now, if you'll excuse me, I HAVE A DATE WITH A GHOST."

HA! she really did hit it on poor Madison's face.(how does that feel pretty face!)

ok, i did not think that this book was gonna be scary or anything, but i wanted something spooky or bad to happen when hannah was lost in the woods. instead she just ended up in her latest crush's house. okay that was sweet but really i expected something else, something "DARK"

the ending- not so exciting. i had better expectationS. cuz in the end it was just a dead cat trying to get back to its dead owner. now there's nothing exciting about that, is it?
especially coz' the legend told something ELSE-

the people believed that the cat lured molly to death.

see! so the ending should have been something more other than-

'hannah believed it was gonna be a great year.'

ok fine, u wanted to give the book a nice ending. but atleast..
it was clearly a story about a black cat who haunted the sleepy hollow cemetery. i expected something else. atleast hannah should've got hurt or something! (and i am totally not a freak who wants every single person to get hurt or die in the end)

but other then that, it was a good book.

7 out of 10.

P.S. it was really annoying the way she shouted "icky!" when she saw the cat just because he too like icky had a splash of white on his tail.

This book was very good. My favorite part would have to be when Hannah, the main character\ my favorite character, opens a grave for this ghost girl so her little ghost cat can get to her. So she can go to the afterlife with the cat. I think it is so cool that she basically gets followed by this ghost and while this is happening she lost her kitty and is forced to have her worst enemy as a step sister, don’t worry this is not a Cinderella story. She thinks she is crazy or just only imagining it, but it is all too real.Read this book if you like ghost/creature books,or just like Poison Apple books. (not Candy Apple)You have to read to find out more. And practice good reading;)

So, I know this is normally for younger kids and all, but this was one of my favorite series when I was younger and decided to do a small re-read and plus, they are quick read when I want something short and light to read depending on the day. So I figured, why not? I enjoyed this book and the writing. At times, after the day and the others books I’m reading, I always enjoy reading books like this, even if they are for younger kids. They are short and easy to read and their light, they don’t involve anything too harsh. And sometimes I just like re-reading some of my favorite books from childhood.

Curiosity Killed the Cat by Sierra Harimann is about Hannah, the main character, who isn't thrilled to be moving in with her dad, step mom, and her spoiled stepsister, Molly who live right next to a spooky cemetery in Sleepy Hollow. At first, Hannah doesn't believe all the "ghost cat" stories she's heard about the graveyard and chooses to ignore them. But, the stories were the least of Hannah's troubles, her cat, Icky, has been missing since the move, her mother moved to a different city, and worst of all, Hannah can't sleep at night. Something keeps scratching at her door, but when she looks for it, nothing is ever there! She then wonders if she is haunted. The characters in Curiosity Killed the Cat seem believable and real because of their emotions, actions, and traits. This book is very exciting, mysterious, and involves supernatural elements.

It was a good book. I got lots of chill from it, especially the ending. It was mysterious. Remark: She used the same line from Sierra's Evil Twin book which was "Eat your own heart out". I have to say that I love that sentence. :')
In conclusion, I enjoyed it and I recommend it to all Poison Apple Book lovers. Perfect book for Halloween!

I read the majority of the Poison Apple Books earlier this year. These are some of the best books that I have read in a long time.
They are easy to read, age-appropriate, and they don't contain profanity.

If you're looking for a children's suspense sort of book, then I suggest Curiosity Killed the Cat by Sierra Harimann. This book was quite different from all the books I've been reading recently. At first, the book didn't really interest me, but you can't judge a book by it's cover. As I continued reading it, I found it interesting in a different way, but this book definitely isn't one of my favorite books. The main character in the book is Hannah. In the story, Hannah has to move in with her dad, because her mom was leaving to Chicago for her job. Hannah's dad lives with one of the meanest girls in seventh grade, Madison, and Madison's mom, Allison. The day she moves, Hannah's cat, Icky, went missing! It was really hard on Hannah, making her life pretty miserable. At night, Hannah would hear scratches on her wall, and sometimes, she would even see a shadow of a cat, or hear soft "meows." Soon, Hannah finds out that she wasn't the only one experiencing those paranormal things. Madison heard it all too. Madison was no help while Hannah was trying to solve the mystery of the ghost, so Hannah told her crush, Tyler, and he looked up ways to help her keep the ghost away. On Halloween night, Hannah believes that she seen her missing cat, Icky, outside hr window, so she runs downstairs to retrieve him. The cat runs into the cemetery, and Hannah decides to follow it. Madison appears at the cemetery gate, and she decides to help Hannah. They go deeper into the cemetery, following the cat. They wound up at a tombstone, where they hear cat scratches. Hannah decides to be brave, and she opens up the tombstone. I usually don't try to spoil too much of the books, so that's where I'll stop and let you find out the rest! Personally, I understand Hannah a whole lot. Her feelings throughout he story describe how I feel sometimes. She was obviously my favorite character in the book. Again, I would recommend this book to someone who likes children suspense.

I have a lot of fond memories of reading this book back in 7th grade, I obsessively read it over and over again for an entire because I liked it so much. To be honest, it hasn’t held up for me the way that some of the other Poison Apple books that I re-read have, but it’s still very dear to me just because of how attached I was to it.

I always thought Hannah was so cool! She played guitar, hung out in graveyards and was in a band called The Headless Horsemen - truly my first book crush. Her family dynamic is also interesting and I would’ve liked to see just a little more from the parents, but her relationship with Madison was well done, for the most part. Ryan was a great love interest for her (I was actually surprised by how well I remembered the ‘PBBPC&J’ bit) and although we didn’t get to see much of her because that was the point, Paisley was an excellent best-friend. (Emma Rose’s best-friend from ‘This Totally Bites’ whose name I don’t ever remember will never know peace!)

I also thought that the story/actual supernatural elements while interesting, could’ve even been executed better (translation: not a spooky vibe in sight). I think a similar tone to ‘The Dead End’ would’ve worked really well for this since it’s also a ghost story, but I digress.

i don't remember the plot of this book anymore, only little snippets like how the scratching noises she hears at night could be her cat. i'm on a constant mission to log all the books i've ever read in my life, and today, i was reminded of the grip this poison apple series had on me.

i think the reviews from kids and children on here are the most precious little things. feels like i'm opening time capsules.i hope everyone in this review section grew up strong and healthy, and continued to love reading.

Meh. I got bored even after chapter four. The plot are quite catchy but predictable. I like other Poison Apple Book series but sorry not with this one :( Now I guess imma switch to read a book that suits my age group HAHAHHA. No, I didn't buy this book during my 20s. I bought it back when I was only 13. But never finished reading cuz its boring. As an adult, yeah I've had to admit that my younger self was right.

Hannah Malloy is not THRILLED to move in with her divorced dad, and that her cat is missing, and her mom’s moving to Chicago, it’s definitely not going good for poor Hannah. Nobody even told her that it would be next to a graveyard! Worst of all, she has to deal with her stepsister. But nope, it isn’t any ordinary stepsister, it has to be the popular, pretty, bully stepsister. If you like ghosts, or any kind of creepy stories/legends, this is your type of book.

Read this book when I was really little.
The supernatural in novels has always naturally fascinated me. This is a perfect story for an elementary or middle schooler who loves creepy stories. It has stayed with me throughout the years, and I let my little sister read my copy too- she loved it as well. :)
