Jetty Road is an amusing and insightful novel about women of a certain age, kids and oldies - about life actually, and how we never really grow into it. The story explores the intertwined lives of two sisters, Evie and Paula Haggerty. Damaged by their early life experiences - Evie's past drug habit and the collapse of Paula's long-term relationship - the sisters depend on one another to stand strong against the challenges of mid life, and together face difficult decisions that must be made.
This of book of the month for our reading group so I really tried to stay with it but, halfway through, I thought of the other books in my current pile and gave up. I found this such a boring book! None of the main characters stood out for me. In fact, I found it difficult to remember which sister had which boyfriend. I've given it two stars because it was adequately written but did not see it being worth any more than that.
P.S. I'm so glad I switched to the next book in my pile - but more of that one to come!
