The sprawling, activity-packed, three-day Mahora Academy Festival is underway. Overwhelmed and exhausted by his schedule, Negi falls asleep and almost loses an entire day. But thanks to Chao Lingshen’s amazing, pocket-size invention, Negi suddenly has time to spare! So Negi goes on a date with Nodoka, patrols the dangerous areas surrounding the legendary World Tree, becomes accidentally possessed by strange magic, inspires a heart-to-heart with usually secretive students, and prepares to compete in a martial-arts tournament against opponents who are more formidable than he ever imagined. Will there be anything left to do for days two and three?
Ken Akamatsu (赤松 健, Akamatsu Ken, July 5, 1968 -) is a Japanese mangaka from Tokyo.
In his teenage years, Akamatsu failed the entrance exam to Tokyo University, and applied for Film Study instead (it is speculated that this is where he got the idea for Love Hina). Eventually, he became famous as an illustrator featured in Comiket (short for Comic Market, a comic convention bi-annually held in Japan). He used the pen name Awa Mizuno (水野 亜和, MIZUNO Awa). Akamatsu, still in college, then proceeded to win the Weekly Shonen Magazine award twice. His "A Kid's Game for One Summer" was awarded the coveted 50th Shonen Magazine Newcomer's Award soon after he graduated.
After a big hit with A.I. Love You, he finally made a grand success with his new manga, Love Hina. The series appeared in Weekly Shonen Magazine and has been collected in eleven volumes (with fourteen volumes in total), which have sold over 6 million copies in Japan, and received the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen in 2001. Akamatsu had added elements of his own life experiences to the story, and this was said to have induced a unique feeling to the manga especially for Western readers, whose lack of familiarity with Japanese culture for the most part added to the effect. The series, published in America in 2002, was especially well received in many overseas countries - Akamatsu was surprised that even foreign readers found Love Hina to be "cute" and to their liking.
He is now married to his wife 'Kanon' Akamatsu, who was previously a singer/idol. He is currently working on his latest manga series, Negima!: Magister Negi Magi, which is his longest running manga so far. Like Love Hina, has also been made into an anime series. A second independent retelling of Negima was made called Negima!?. Both series were produced by XEBEC (Negima!? was produced by SHAFT).
The annual Mahora Academy Festival is here and it brings a lot of surprises for Negi. He wants to enjoy the festivities despite being very exhausted with the help of his pocket watch time machine, but it leads to plenty of trouble and an accidental kiss. Negi reluctantly enter the festival’s martial arts competition, with a huge cash prize, and sees some surprising opponents. A (100%/Outstanding)

Who doesn't love a big theme-park with ride and tons of things to see and do? Basically, that is what the 78th Annual Mahora Festival is, except it is on the campus of a school. I sat down and read Negima!: Magister Negi Magi - Volume 10 in one sitting and it took a solid two hours or more. There is so much to see and a ton of dialog that it took a long time to read this Negima book. You really get your moneys-worth with this series.
As for the storyline, it is quite excellent. I loved it when Negi deep-kissed Asuna. We all know that there is an age difference, and we often forget that Negi is only ten-years old because he doesn't act like a little boy. As for Asuna being three years older than him, nothing would happen in the real world. But this is fantasy, so, who knows?
The artwork is excellent and the translation is great. I am always happy when I sit down with a Negima manga book because I know I am bound for a lot of fun and adventure. This series never fails to keep the reader totally engrossed in the story with heaps of things that are going on in each chapter.
The only thing I didn't like was when Chao declared that she was a Martian. Huh? Now we have aliens from another world at this school? I though that this was a Fantasy series, not a Science Fiction series. Although . . . I did like the time-machine idea.
Overall, Negima!: Magister Negi Magi - Volume 10 is another excellent book and I am really looking forward to more of the martial-art tournament in Negima!: Magister Negi Magi - Volume 11. Let's just hope that Negi can follow in his father's footsteps.
i watch the anime version : it is about Ten year old boy name Negi Springfield who has just graduated from magic academy. He have a dream to be a master wizard. For that he sent to Japan to teach English at girls high school. and the story begin ..
The first half of this, Negi going on dates with a bunch of the girls, was okay, and the second half just felt like build-up for the next volume (big tournament). So, eh, decent but not great.
This volume was a mix (in my opinion) of pointless and fun storylines. I am excited to see how the martial arts tournament turns out, because of course it's pretty much Negi's class vs each other.
