There are three major values that guide the practice of Development Communication.
One, it is purposive.
Two, it is pragmatic.
Three, it is value-laden.
Dev com is purposive communication. We communicate not only to inform but also to influence the behavior of the receiver of information.
Dev com is pragmatic. To be pragmatic means being results-oriented. We evaluate if we indeed made an impact, if we accomplished our purpose.
Dev com is value-laden. Information sources, consciously or unconsciously, assign values to every message they communicate.
