One of the best books I have ever followed. Following this book highlighted some of the most unhelpful eating habits we've lived with/ignored for a long time.

Like any new life changing routines it was tough to get into, so I broke it down into stages:

1 - went through each recipe and made a list of all ingredients that are required for each day of the week for two weeks.
2 - spent some time purchasing easy to store (not fresh) ingredients like beans, grain, nuts. German rye bread for one of the days is a lot healthier than a toast, I went to ethnic shops or health stores to buy larger bags of spices e.g. you need a lot of paprika so why not buy enough to last for the entire month or longer.
3 - the next stage involved purchasing fish and anything that could be stored in freezer, e.g. frozen berries from Tesco instead of fresh ones.

Another reason why I would recommend to break down the prep into stages, is that it not only allows you to shop around for weekly deals like sale on fresh fish at supermarket counter, it also allows you to stager expenses if you are on a budget. My first week cost us approx £70 in prep as above, which is a lot as you are still short of the fresh ingredients like celery, herb, grapes etc. I would recommend going with fresh herbs as they add a better flavour to the meals than dry herbs do.

Through out the entire prep I read and re-read the recipes to get familiar with the timings. Whilst preping we continued as we were following our usual diet to use up any ingredients that will not be required for the two weeks we are following this book. Once ready, I did my fresh greens shop daily following the list that I made when reading through the recipes. We took a week off and cooked each meal 2 hours before consumption. I won't deny it was a really hard work because I followed instructions to a 't' it felt like I was cooking and shopping all day every day. The time invested has paid off in second week as it was a lot easier to follow the menu because recipes and ingredients were familiar, the bulk of ingredients was still there, so I just continued with ensuring I pick up fresh greens on my way home from work.

As a prep for work week, I started by cooking Monday's lunch with Sunday's dinner. Monday morning prepared breakfast & took packed lunch (cooked on sunday) to work, in the evening cooked Monday dinner with Tuesdays' lunch; etc.

Again, won't deny it's tough to get into because feels like you are learning a new language or starting walking again, as time went by following this book was the best decision I ever made. I've only ever followed first section and have two more to digest as I did above, so I see myself following this book for years to come.

If you are serious about cleaning up your diet, it's an investment I recommend you make.

I miss Borders, as this is where I first came across this book and had an opportunity to study before I bought it and brought it home.

I hope you enjoy these menus as much as we do.

A good resource for eating cleanly and detoxing and cleansing with recipes and foods targeted to specific health concerns. Includes plans and guidelines for weekend 1-week and 4-week detox plans also targeted to specific health concerns or goals like energy-building, digestion tune-ups or particular 'ailments.' The information isn't new or different but it is explained well. I have made a few of the detox juices and smoothies and have been happy with the taste and results.
