This is the remarkable story of Benny Hinn?a man known to millions as one of the great healing evangelists of our time. Many who have attended his crusades, watched his daily television ministry, or have seen him on programs such as Larry King Live have asked, "Who is this man? And how did he rise to such a place of prominence?" You'll travel to Jaffa, Israel, and learn of the events that shaped the life of Benedictus, the oldest son in a family of eight children of Greek and Armenian heritage. And you will read of the deep conflicts in the Hinn household when, after the family immigrated to Canada, Benny had a dramatic, life-changing spiritual experience. The journey from a small church in Oshawa, Ontario, to the largest stadiums and arenas in the world is filled with love, laughter, and tears. It is also a story of miracles. He Touched Me , the autobiography of Benny Hinn, will inspire you. It reveals what can heppen when one person becomes totally yielded to the holy Spirit.
Toufik Benedictus "Benny" Hinn is a televangelist, best known for his regular "Miracle Crusades"—revival meeting or faith healing summits that are usually held in stadiums in major cities.
I read this book when Benny Hinn was the talk of the town after the introduction of God TV in India. Almost everyone was talking about him - believer and skeptic. I was unsure about many things that his programs showed and wanted to know more. When I did read this book I was impressed by how from such humble beginnings Benny Hinn became such a world famous personality. Over the years I have begun disapprove of his ministry and hence not so enthusiastically recommending this book.
A touch from the Holy Spirit is undoubtedly noticed by all. When the Holy Spirit rests upon a life just as He came upon the disciples in Acts, a profound effect follows.
The Author, Pastor Benny Hinn shared the encountered he had with his family after his conversion to Jesus Christ. Having been born into a Greek family in Israel, where his father was the Mayor of Jaffa.
His family was one with a strong emphasis on discipline and tradition; having no personal relationship with God, he was thoroughly ostracized by his family after he had publicly accepted the LORD JESUS.
It became so bad that his father would not even speak to him, and other relatives scorned or ignored him. His challenge was compounded by his inability to talk fluently because he was stricken in early childhood by a severe stutter that made oral communication unbelievably difficult almost impossible - to the extent that some of his relatives concluded by saying to him "Benny, with your speech impairment you probably won't amount to much in life."
A female friend to Benny's mother said to Benny Hinn when he took something she had requested from Benny's mother to her "Why did your mother send someone who can't talk?" Another man said to him "Why do you look so dumb?" "These words, repeated in so many subtle ways, became indelibly etched on my young mind." Benny became a loner - quiet, shy and more attuned to reserved, deliberate and predictable activity. He spent hours alone in his room.
The profound change came at age 19 when through some fellow students of his introduced him to Jesus and also being sealed with the person of the Holy Spirit, this turned out for good, allowing him to delight in the incalculable richness of the Holy Spirit's presence. His difficulty in term of speaking fluently ended abruptly. This miracle wrought by the Holy Spirit also led to the conversion of his family.
The book, an autobiography of Benny Hinn is a compelling, inspiring yet informative one of the workings of the Holy Spirit in a life surrender.
A must read book indeed!
LESSON LEARNT A touch from the Holy Spirit will bring a lasting answer to whatever men might have concluded impossible to change. Daily seek the Holy Spirit's infilling!
I absolutely loved this book. I went into it knowing very little about Benny Hinn and was immediately engrossed in his story. Devoured the book in one sitting. Would highly recommend - the testimony of the Holy Spirit’s work in and through his life encourages, uplifts, and calls each of us to more. Thank You, Lord, for the way You worked in his life and the way work in ours. Our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever and what He has done before He will do again.
I was expecting insights into ministry and struggles faced by Benny Hinn as he established his ministry. The second half of the book seems like a big credit flow, filled with acknowledgment to his team members. And partly a big advertisement of his ministry. Not exactly what I was expecting, hence 2 stars.
"It is the working of the Spirit that brings healing, deliverance, and salvation." (Benny Hinn, He Touched Me, Page 179)
If you have read Benny Hinn's other book Good Morning, Holy Spirit, you will notice there is some overlap in it with this his autobiography.
Good Morning, Holy Spirit was one of the first books that I read as a new Christian 19 years ago. I remember reading it and getting almost knocked to the floor by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. In this book, I could also feel the presence of the Holy Spirit as I read it.
Benny Hinn takes you from the beginning of his childhood of being raised in Jaffa, Israel. His dad worked as a government official. Benny Hinn went to a Catholic school taught by nuns. He says that in this school he was privileged to see the Bible come to life because he lived by the places that Jesus and other prophets of old walked. His family moved from Israel to Toronto, Canada. He told God that if He got his family safe to Canada that he would buy the biggest bottle of olive oil as a gift. The family arrived safe and Benny Hinn went to a store and bought the gift as promised and presented it to the Lord at a Catholic church.
While he was in school he was invited to a charismatic prayer meeting where people were praying in tongues. He was touched in this prayer meeting and made friends of this group. He started attending charismatic services and one of his friends invited him to a Kathryn Kuhlman meeting and he had an encounter with the Holy Spirit in this meeting that would change his life forever. When he got back home he asked the Holy Spirit if he could meet him. The Holy Spirit met with Benny Hinn and began to teach him the truths of the Scriptures.
The rest of the book talks about how God healed his stuttering, how his family began to be saved, the explosion of his ministry and taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth using media and crusades.
A powerful book of a powerful ministry and as Benny Hinn says so many times in his book, "TO GOD BE THE GLORY!"
This is an autobiography of Benny Hinn and it is fun to read and also powerful to hear how the Lord has done so much in his life. Great testimonies that make you EXTREMELY hungry for God's presence and fire in your life!
A very good read.. A very inspiring autobiography I should say.... I can say that this book surely got me closer to the Lord than before... The best part is where he says that we must praise and thank the Lord Almighty instead of the people sent by him to guide us :):):)
