Luke Irontree just wanted to fly home. But the vampires had other ideas.
Luke yearns to return to his friends and family after a hard winter fighting against the vampires of Western Europe. But when their plane is grounded in Portland, Maine, they stumble on a deadly plot to terrorize the region.
Trapped 3,000 miles from home, Luke refuses to abandon the Maine pack to the predations of the vampires. Together with Roxi and his crew of werewolves, he rallies the locals and organizes their defenses. But what they find in the woods of Maine may be too much for their small team and their untested new allies.
If Luke wants to see his loved ones again, he’ll need to use all his resources to unite the disparate packs of the northeast. But with the vampires and their dark god tightening the noose around his neck, his best might not be enough if he wants to live and return home…
C. Thomas Lafollette is a student of history and a world traveler. He’s dined with a Prime Minister, read poetry with Yevgeny Yevtushenko, and drank beer with monks. He’s the author of the action-adventure urban fantasy series Luke Irontree & The Last Vampire War and the forthcoming Red City Reaper series. Besides reading and writing, he loves a good action movie, be it a Hollywood blockbuster or a classic Samurai flick, as well as the occasional rom-com. He lives in Portland with his partner – the devastatingly talented author Amy Cissell – his stepdaughter, and their two jerkface cats.
Another explosive action filled book, wow mesmerising and intense, but taking of my history and detail blinkers something feels a miss. As immortals shouldn't Luke and Roxy especially with the help of Selene, be strong enough to survive more. At this rate the series can continue without forever not that I'll mind as I find each book intriguing. I received an advanced review copy and leave this review voluntary Thank you BookSirens
Luke Irontree returns once again as the true Master Slayer of Vampires, the Centurio Immortalis. It seems to be an inbred trait in the vampires of this realm that they keep trying the same thing with the resultant failure as their just reward, death at the hands of the Centurio Immortalis. They continue to conspire and plot the demise of Luke Irontree and he always finds a way route their onslaught even if it ends up running him ragged. Throwing their “loser vampire god” into the mix does nothing to help their cause because the Centurio Immortalis continued to reign the final death and destruction on the undead lackies that seek his demise. This book was so gripping that I read it straight through from cover to cover without a break. I was almost brought to tears when I realized that there were no more pages left and I now had to return to my mundane existence without the fierce fighting and loving making that only the Centurio Immortalis can do. It is this suspension of reality that drags you in the book and holds you hostage until you liberate yourself by reading the final page. I highly recommend this book to all readers.
Luke is finally on that plane home with his love Roxi, and his trusted companions Pablo and Delilah. Will they make it? On the way, horror strikes, planes are falling from the sky and they are rerouted to Maine. At least poor Luke is in the US! But how does he get home all the way across the country now?
I won't tell you more other than the vamps are upping their game and it's a horror fest. You can't go wrong for action and adventure with Luke and the gang!
Another great installment, can't wait to see how he's going to win against this endless and vicious foe!
I will say, we get another great cameo by Selene, I love her scenes!
Luke, someday you'll get to rest, I'm hoping for you!
This is a new author. I have read this book and giving my honest review. I have not read any of the others in the series, it did not spoil, I soon got to know who was who. Wow what a fantastic book. I could not put this done. Wish I had read the others. I loved Luke, so exciting, fighting, love how he tells you about the Romans. Vampires, and love. I am not spoiling, you have to read this for yourself. I honestly could not put this book down, loved it from start to the last page. Hope you enjoy too .
Usually, when you get to book 8 of a series, it starts to become a little bit stale. Well, I think could be farther from the truth with this particular series of books. I have become attached to Luke and his adventures. This book was fantastic in howit incorporated all of the things that interest me as far as fantasy fiction goes
This had so much happening. But the scary parts were the bad baby vampires!! And then all the fighting to survive. Good thing they have a relationship to the goddess Selene.
