4 Fighting their love Stars

*Spoilers*

“You’re a jerk, Finlay MacCoinnich.” “And you love it, Elizabeth McAllister,”

 photo tumblr_l4p72727M11qa0b99o1_250_zpshgxnmkdi.gif

“Don’t, Lizzy. Please, it tears me apart to hear you cry.”

Redeeming Vows is a great a addition to the MacCoinnich Time Travel Series. I really liked this one, but I liked the first two a little better. The reason is I didn't really get attached to the main couple in this book. I liked them alright but I didn't love them.

 photo fin9_zpsiebp4wyj.jpg

“We both feel this way, Elizabeth. This spark between us.”

What this book is about

The evil Grainna is at it again. Now that she has broke her curse and has all her powers back, she is out to destroy the MacCoinnich Family. When a spell Grainna cast sends Fin and Lizzy back to lizzy's time in the future, they will have to work together to get back to the 16th century and their family. Fin and Lizzy have been going at each other's throats since they met. Fighting their feelings for each other. Now they have a few days to get home and help save their family. Can they stop fighting long enough to come up with a plan and make it home in time?

“I’m saying that today, right at this moment, you mean more to me than anything possibly could. That regardless of what may come tomorrow, I want you to be by my side so we can meet it together.”

 photo fin_zps3sjyp8d1.jpg

But her eyes traveled down his long torso and followed the ripples of his chest until they met his need head on. “Good God, MacCoinnich, what do you feed that thing?” She licked her lips and prayed he hadn’t seen her response. He didn’t answer until her gaze returned to his. “Blondes.”

I didn't get Fin and Lizzy and I think that is why I didn't like this book as much as the other two. I liked them alright individually, but I didn't get why they fought each other so much. It made them both look like jerks and childish. I felt like they wasted all that time they could have been together acting like babies and fighting their feelings. That being said when they do get together they are adorable. It just takes them too damn long for my likings!!!! Just sayin! Of course I loved the whole MacCoinnich family. The plot was amazing which is why even with me not investing in the main couple I still give this book a 4 star rating. There is some new characters that I would like to see more in the next few books like Selma, Logan ,and Donovan . Poor Cian God I hope he gets a HEA because my heart just hurts for him. This book is a great read! I am on to the next book which is Simon book. I am really looking forward to Amber's book.

Below I will leave my favorite moment from this book:

“’Tis time to fetch them, Duncan,” Ian told his son, knowing full well what kept Finlay and Elizabeth away. He’d asked Simon to call his mother in his head some time before. Only to hear the child squeal and see the boy’s eyes pinch close. He quickly shook his head and appeared sick. “Oh, that’s just gross,” he’d said. “Are they well?” Lora questioned. “Oh, they’re fine. I think I’m going to need therapy though.” Todd burst into laughter. Tara chuckled. “I guess it’s best you stay out of your mom’s thoughts from now on.”

I think this one is my favorite! Lots of really good action in modern times and in the 16th Century. The MacCoinnich Clan really come into their power as a whole in this one. Finn and Liz were combustible! Loved it all. So happy to see these books held up for me after 6years. I'll be rereading the last 2 books very soon. I really wish Ms. Bybee would revisit this family and write Cian's book. I feel like he was just left dangling all by himself. 😒 Anyway... Happy reading!

Really good story and conclusion to the trilogy. I'm happy Fin and Liz worked it out. It was romantic and magical. I enjoyed reading these time traveling Highlander's stories very much. Happy reading!!

What an awesome ending to a fantastic series! Redeeming Vows didn't disappoint continuing with the suspense built up in the first two books and wrapping up the storyline nicely. Binding Vows (Book One), Silent Vows (Book Two) and Redeeming Vows (The Finale) are three amazing time travel books filled with heartwarming romance, sizzle, hunky Highlanders and Druid magic. I just loved this series. If you are a fan of this genre, take a minute to read the synopsis of each book and pick them up. I guarantee you will end up like me - with a silly grin on your face at the end of each book. All three of these books have found a place on my "keeper shelf." Catherine Bybee will now be an automatic buy for me. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

Another hidden Gem by Catherine Bybee

The third book brings Fin and Liz together (battle of the sexes) Fin is one hell of a 16th Century Hunk of a Highlander and well Liz finds it difficult to play the role of a 16th Century Lady. Liz is stubborn very stubborn.

Fin and her butt heads a lot but they get to know one another. The fight is still on with Grainna.

Catherine Bybee has weaaved a wonderful book and series. I hope that Cian (after what happened to him, maybe the soul of Titiana??) and Amber get a book. I will be reading Simon's story soon and I would like to see a book on Logan as well.

First of all, I wish to thank my Goodreads Friend Shirl for recommending this trilogy!

Tara and her sister Lizzie are drawn back to the 16th century and the three stories of this trilogy follow their adventures and loves as they fight against evil. They are somehow drawn to 16th century Scotland from 21st century America. Their soul - mates are brawny Highland men, complete with beards, kilts and claymores who each have the power of Druids in their heritage. Druid power is also awakened in the sisters, never enough to defeat the wicked witch, but enough to build upon as the stories progress.

Redeeming vows, the third of the trilogy, leads to the final battle with Grainna, the Druid witch who hopes to conquor death and time itself.

These stories are very well written, they are well put together and the characters are different but complementery to each other. This is romantic fantasy at its best - humour and sexy scenes abound and reality is delightfully suspended for the entire read!

These are my favourite books by Ms Bybee, and I will definately keep looking out for more!

Catherine Bybee has done it again, written a story that just can't be put down! Although I might rate it a 4.5 (only because I feel the second book, Silent Vows was a titch better), "Redeeming Vows" is a light, wonderful mixture of magic, suspense, danger and most of all heart stopping, earth shaking (literally) romance. Lizzy and Fin's story finishes the Vows Trilogy with a flair and a sigh as, after another wild ride through time, we are left immensely happy at the final ending - yet somewhat sad the journey is over.

*Disclaimer: There are a couple scenes to skip for those who don't like steam.*

This was my favorite book in the series. I really do not want this series to end! I want to read Cian's and Amber's story. I wouldn't even mind seeing Selma again! I couldn't put these books down and once I finished the 2nd book around midnight, I had to immediately start reading the final. Such a great series for people who enjoy time travel fantasy novels!

MAGNIFICENT!!

Redeeming Vows is another magnificent story in the MacCoinnick Time travel series. This is Fin and Liz's story featuring Liz's son Simon. Cathrine Bybee has expanded her storyline to include the Druid gift of Shape Shifting and other gifts that empower the MacCoinnicks and there mates. The war against Grianna the evil Druid Witch continues into an epic battle. Grianna/Gwen Adams is one of the best written female villains I have ever read and that is saying a lot. This story is full of action battles, passion, romance, sex and humor and unfortunately sadness. I like Fin and Liz much more then I thought I would as a couple. They really worked well as a couple and there love and the passion shines through. Fin's love for Simon Liz's son is very believable and touching. I Highly Recommend Redeeming Vows. for your reading pleasure. I do suggest you read the books in order. Each book sets the stage for the next book. I can't wait to get start on book 4 Highland Shifter.

MacCoinnick Time Travel could be a TV show it is so well written. You feel like you are right there in the scenes with the characters!!

Good

Some parts of this annoyed me like how suddenly Lizzie was the one with the chants when Tarra was the one who started it and dude Finn was so sexist at times. Even when he said he'd ask her, he didn't actually do so. I get that he's a product of his time but I don't have to like it either.

But I loved how the action picked up and the threat increased. I loved how the women were finally a part of the battle. And I loved watching the characters grow. I would have liked to see Cian get a happy ending too and to know if Jake and Selma ended up together. Also I'm hoping this family stays together even if they can part.

Overall it's a great conclusion to this arc of the story and I look forward to see what the druids face next.

After liking the first two books in this series, this one kind of dragged for me. There was more focus on the MacCoinnich family's battle against the evil Grainna than there was about Lizzie and Fin's relationship - which, as an avid romance reader, is what I'm always going to want more of. Still, it hasn't put me off the rest of the series, even if the family is now safe...

I'm starting to think that Catherine Bybee's time travel romances are a form of biblioholic crack--endlessly addictive. I'm having a difficult time resisting the urge to dive into Highland Shifter. It's book four(!) in the MacCoinnich Time Travel Trilogy (problem of the first part right there) and I highly suspect that there's yet another trilogy in the offing. Or at least that this is the start of the next generation's stories. And there were three, so I'm going to try to resist until they're all done.

Write faster Catherine!

Redeeming Vows is the story I was pining for in the last third or so of Silent Vows -- it's Fin and Lizzy's story. This makes it the opposites attract vow. Or maybe the "meet in the middle" vow.

Lizzy is definitely a woman of the 21st century. She's a single mother and proud of it. She has every reason to be. The only male in her life who has not abandoned her is her son, Simon. She's had to learn to stand up for herself.

But like Tara, Lizzy has damn difficult time bending to 16th century realities when it comes to the relationships between the sexes. It's harder for Lizzy, because she doesn't arrive more than half in love with someone, and because she has no intention of staying.

Fate has other plans.

So does Fin MacCoinnich. And Fin also sees what Lizzy doesn't. That her son Simon needs to be a boy with other boys. That it's time for Simon to grow away from Lizzy's protectiveness, no matter how well intentioned that protectiveness might be.

They strike sparks from each other from the first minute.

Fin has a lot to learn from Lizzy, too. When she becomes stuck in the 16th century, Lizzy is the first one to realize that the evil witch Grainna will not be overcome with swords and spears alone. Grainna is a witch, and it is with Druid power that they need to beat her. Women's power, working together.

But it's not until one of Grainna's spells throws Fin and Lizzy together back/forward into the 21st century that Fin discovers just how strong Lizzy truly is. Or just how much he wants to keep her in his life.

The question is whether he can convince her of that, now that he knows just what she's giving up.

Escape Rating B: While Redeeming Vows doesn't quite hold the magic of Binding Vows it still reads like a rollicking good time. And I loved that there were happy endings all around. But I'll get back to that in a minute.

Lizzy and Fin's on again/off again/on again romance was hotter than any Druid fire. They can't stand each other, nor can they see each other's point of view half the time, but they can't resist arguing. Fin's never been in a committed relationship, and Lizzy doesn't trust men. but they can't keep their hands off each other. Their romance is scorching hot.

One factor that keeps them from giving in is the question of time. Lizzy doesn't want to stay in the 16th century, and Fin is a man of his time. Lizzy's son, Simon, belongs in the past. His power makes him yearn to stay with the only family that has ever accepted him. Lizzy is scared of losing him. She pushes Fin away because she's pushing away a decision about where/when to be.

About that happy ending. On the one hand, it was terrific that everyone lived happily ever after. On the other hand, and this bothered me a bit, Grainna was a terribly great evil. It shouldn't have been that easy. Much as it would have saddened me for someone to have been lost in order to defeat her, there should have been a cost.

One character was created just for Redeeming Vows to be a love interest for Fin's youngest brother, Cian. Her purpose was to sacrifice herself to betray the witch, and give Cian someone to mourn. Her sacrifice helps bring the ending, but she wasn't important enough to represent the high cost of defeating a great evil. My 2 cents.

I still loved the whole series and wish the next set was done. Highland Shifter is Simon's story. I have the feeling that Amber's story and Cian's are yet to come. Bring 'em on!

Summary: Lizzie McAllister is not happy living in the sixteenth century. Even though she has enjoyed honing her Druid skills, she doesn’t feel at home in this era. She yearns for technology and the comforts of her modern life, even while her son, Simon, is growing more and more at peace with his new life. Simon’s Druid powers are quite unique, and also stronger than most. Lizzie can’t stop herself from wanting to baby and protect him, but his strength is flourishing in this new environment.

To further complicate her life, Finlay MacCoinnich continues to be a thorn in her side. They argue and bicker constantly, but the rest of the family seems to think that the animosity is actually a form of foreplay. Fin and Liz are definitely attracted to and possessive of each other in spite of their struggles. When Liz has cause to worry about Simon’s safety, it is Fin who comforts her and stands by her side.

During a wedding festival for an ally clan, Grainna sends a curse over the land that causes Liz and Fin to be thrown forward into Liz’s coveted 21st century. Desperate to get back to Simon and the rest of her family, Liz comes to realize that her home is truly in the past. And, as she works with Fin to return to his time, she also comes to accept her feelings for the man by her side.

Eventually, it takes an army to face Grainna after her powers are finally restored. Each member of the chosen MacCoinnich clan plays an integral part in the final outcome. Will they be able to destroy Grainna now that she is at full strength? How many lives will be lost in the final battle? Will they be able to remain intact as a family?

Review: By the end of this book, Liz and Fin were my favorite couple in the series. It took me a little while to get on board though. Don’t get me wrong, I liked them together from the start. I am just a little hesitant when it comes to bickering and arguing as foreplay. Thankfully, this didn’t last long, so my reservations were unecessary. My absolute favorite part of their love story was the fatherly role Fin assumes with Simon from the very beginning. From the first moment he stepped into that void in Simon’s life, showing him love and guidance, I was completely smitten with this man.

Besides the love story, the other primary theme is finding a way to defeat and destroy Grainna. Realizing that they can’t defeat her alone now that she has regained her power, the MacCoinnich’s recruit an army to help in the final battle. It reminded me of how everyone united at the end of Harry Potter in order to defeat Voldemort and the Death Eaters. There was definitely a strong sense of unity and courage when the group finally reached the climax of their destiny. The battle scenes are incredibly intense and full of action, and the conclusion felt just as epic as I had hoped it would.

I recommend this series as a whole. It is emotional, exciting, and very well-written. The series definitely has more of a magic/necromancy feeling than I would have expected in a Highlander romance, but these elements became more and more interesting with the progression of each book.

Awesome, action packed adventure - Loved It!!!!

The finale to the trilogy and well worth the read. This installment had so many twists and turns I was never bored and totally enthralled the whole time.

This was even better than the last two installments, there was so much action and magic in this one, I couldnt wait to see what was going to happen next.

Liz is Tara's sister and for safety reasons her and her son Simon are living in the past until the evil witch Grianna is taking a dirt nap. Liz is a force to be reckoned with being from the future she sees the treatment of women a whole lot differently that Fin does, as in they have an opinion too and not just baby makers. She is HILARIOUS!!!!

Fin is Duncan's brother and usally the laides man, he is fierce and strong and just loves to rile up Liz, he is also conciderate and loyal and really sweet. The type of guy you wanna bring home to meet the parents because you want to drive them nuts but he ends up making them love him.

This is a match made in heaven I mean the sexual tension alone is amusing and scorching.

I have to mention youngest brother Cian, his heartbreak is tremendous and i even shed a few tears, he doesnt get a lot of book time but he is a fabulous character the healer is always important.

Simon Liz's son has a hard time of it in this story but I think it adds to his character and aids in his magic ability, and hello how cool SHARK!!!! (not explaining in case I spoil it)

Grianna I mean what a major bitch this chick has issues and some kick ass powers.

The whole getting thrown back into the future again was a very nice touch I love the involvement of the two times it really brings an intersting quirk to the story.

There is also a lot more magic use in this one but I think that is to be expected the finale is where all the fighting is, and some good fighting it is too.

Okay the only dissapointment was no epilogue but I think that was more that I wanted a little bit more I didnt want it to end, I was pleasantly surprised though that the series is still to be carried on with Simon's book next hope there are some cameos as this bunch are a riot, and I really want to know more of their futures. AWESOME!!!!

In this third book of the MacCoinnich Time Travel Trilogy we get to see Fin and Elizabeth’s relationship take shape as well as the final showdown between the evil Grainna and the family. Elizabeth is tested hard and Fin is there at her side always ready to help. Can the two find their way to each other and stop fighting before it is too late?

I have been a fan of this series since the first book. This maybe the last book in the trilogy but it was just as engrossing as the first one. Fin and Elizabeth are both strong people and each is a fighter in their own way. Elizabeth may not be a sword-carrying warrior but she will fight for those that she loves no matter what. Fin is just as loyal and fierce. Before long the two forge a beautiful bond that is stronger than either realizes and that no one can break. I enjoyed watching Elizabeth find not only herself but also love in this book. The banter between her and Fin makes for a great read. He is a great man who finds himself in love and fights for Elizabeth’s heart as well as her life.

Not only do we get to see Fin and Elizabeth’s relationship bloom but we also get to see many other storylines in this book. Simon is still a major character in this story. I was glad to see that he still figures into the story and is not pushed aside. The family is still fighting the evil that is Grainna and the romance of Fin and Elizabeth is intertwined with this storyline. Neither is separate nor ignored.

Catherine Bybee does a wonderful job of pulling the reader into her world and immersing them into the magical world of time travel and druids. I truly enjoyed this book and hope that maybe sometime in the future the author will bring us back to this world of magic and love.

Catherine Bybee knocked this series out of the park!! This was an awesome ending for a wonderful series... In Redeeming Vows, we find Fin and Lizzy's story finally!! There was so much tension between them in the last book "Silent Vows", you knew these two were destined for each other. Finlay and Lizzy were always were at odds with one another, but you knew when they finally had their showdown they were going to finally going to admit their love for one another.

I think I fell in love with Finlay by the way he accepted Simon, he immediately fell into a fatherly role and that endeared him to me. Lizzy is a single mom, left to take care of raising her son on her own, so it was a struggle for her to see and accept Finlay's good intentions.

After finally giving in to their lust for one another, Grainna, the evil witch, transports the couple to the 21st century. As they try to find a way back, Lizzy comes to terms with her true feelings for Finlay and she knows that her home is not in the 21st century but with the family she has come to love and accept in Scotland.

There is a big showdown between Grainna and the MacCoinnich's, I was on the edge of my seat!

You will love this book. I love each book and I honestly can't say I have a favorite. I fell in love with the entire family and I am anticipating Amber's and Cian's story.

I've now read the first four books in this series in four days! I love them. I'm sure I'll read them again many times. This is a series that will keep me on the lookout for future additions to purchase.

Finlay was a character I really enjoyed in 'Binding Vows'. He was witty and had a sense of undeniable fun alongside his unerring protective and honorable side. In 'Redeeming Vows' we saw more of the serious side of his nature and less of the fun that I loved initially.

Lizzy (Elizabeth) is probably the only type of woman that can get Fin to 'pull his big macho head in'. He obviously needs someone to get in and make him realise that woman have great contributions to the world. I suspect Lizzy is the only woman in the world that could do it.

This book goes further in the 'Oh Wow!' stakes than any of the others have but then it's needed to defeat the evil.

Thanks for another amazing book Catherine! I'm off to read more of your books while I await future books in this series.

Are you ready for the amazing next instalment in this breathtaking time travelling trilogy? When I first picked up a Catherine Bybee book, I was instantly hooked. The mix of time travel, witches, magic, and the power of falling in love grabbed me instantly. When I learned that there was more than one story, that it was part of a trilogy, I had to have it. And long awaited, this is Liz and Finn's story.

From book two, I knew that these two would have the most powerful story yet, and indeed they did. Do yourself a favor- pick up this book, in fact, pick up the entire trilogy. Clear your schedules for the next few days and get drawn in to the magic of travelling through time, finding your destiny, and fighting against a powerful witch that will stop at nothing to get her way. Redeeming Vows is enchanting, thrilling, the tension sizzles between Lizzie and Finn, and the book jumps with intense action. I suggest you not miss it!

Overall, I really enjoyed this series of books. I liked following the characters and their lives. In this book the main focus was on Liz and, while she was still a little bit annoying, it definitely was not anything like I was expecting after her appearance in book two. Was this because I just continued to like the series very much or was their really a difference in the character build-up. I think a little of both. Liz grew in this book and since the focus was more on her, you got to see more about her and her thoughts. And, if I really, really think about it, her's was the biggest change and risk taking in the book. I also had to look at myself and realize that just because I happen to usually trust and give second chances way to easily not everyone works that way - and it could be for the better.

I am looking forward to reading other books by Ms. Bybee.

What a perfect way to pull everything together.
I had some tears in this one... for Cian, but finished with a huge smile on my face.
Every character became so much stronger and the way the family loved and supported each other is something I love to see in a story.
The love between Liz and Fin was so complete in this book. the way their relationship developed over time made their bond so much stronger and I really love the role Fin played in Simon's life.
Simon definitely became my favorite character in this book, his gift was awesome and the way he took hold of it was spectacular.
READ THESE BOOKS!!!
You won't be disappointed.

Redeeming Vows by Catherine Bybee is the third and final book in the MacCoinnich Time Trilogy. It is a great time travel romance that is filled with suspense, action, magic and of course romance. Once you pick it up you won’t want to put it down. The romance is steamy and heartfelt. It will have you sighing with pleasure. The characters are well done. You’ll like them and care about what happens to them. The plot is detailed and interesting. It draws you in and keeps you entertained. Redeeming Vows is highly recommended for fans of historical time travel romance.

A wonderful conclusion to the 3 book series. Very enjoyable to read, couldn't wait to get home from work and continue the story. If you have a nook, they are very reasonably priced (and just the touch of a few buttons away!) I am looking forward to Simon's story in the next book. If you like time travel, and your Highlanders hunky, I definitely recommend!

Just finished this book and I really enjoyed it!! I loved that they finally defeated the "great evil" so I am interested to see what will be the next great challenge in the next book. This book kept me reading so looking forward to the next one!! Enjoy!!
