This was a sweet, and short romance. Don’t let the length of this book fool you, the author packed a lot into this heart tugging story.
Reed, and Paige were High school sweethearts in the small town of Destiny. After graduation, they broke up, and went separate ways. Paige went off to law school, and became a lawyer. Reed went into the FBI. During High school reed’s dad went missing. It was like he vanished into thin air. While Reed was working for the FBI, he worked to locate his dad. His dad’s disappearance was a mystery. Every lead, was a dead end.
Years later, Reed moved back home and became the town sheriff. Paige found out she was pregnant the same day she found out her boyfriend was married, and was going back to his wife. She took time off from working from the DA, and went home for her sister’s wedding. Once she was home, and was surrounded by the love of her family, she knew she too wanted to move back home. Paige had a great family, I could feel the love pouring from the pages as I read.
Paige’s first day back in town she met up with Reed, and fainted. Reed was there to catch her. The last thing Paige wanted was to get involved in another relationship. Reed was there to offer his friendship. I loved how their friendship grew, and they worked thought the issues that they faced. Reed was a big, sexy Sheriff, but was also vulnerable when it came to Paige. I loved the way he loved her, but also loved the baby that she carried. He wanted to be a dad to sweet pea.
My favorite part of this book came from chapter 8, here is a sample “Paige. We don’t have to make love. I could hold you and be happy.” Her eyes widened. “You don’t want me?” He cupped her jaw. “I’ve wanted you since I was 15 years old. You’ve been in my dreams, in my every waking thought.” He pressed his forehead against hers. “God Paige, I can’t recall a time I didn’t want you.”
Paige Keenan is moving back to the town she grew up in and opening her own law practice. Knowing in the coming months she's going to need the support of her family. After learning she's pregnant, she also learns her boyfriend is getting back together with his wife he never told her about. Making it worse, he wanted nothing to do when told of her pregnancy and threatened her if she interfered with his life.
She just wasn't prepared for how she would react to seeing Reed Larkin again.
Reed never understood why Paige broke up with him right out of high school, but now he wasn't letting her out of his life. Already being close to her family, he always there when she needs someone's help. But convincing her not everyone is like her ex, will be hard.
In the meantime, he needs her help uncovering the cold case of his father's disappearance. Always the disgrace of the town, Reed finally believe Paige is the key to cracking the case and giving him answers.
By doing this, Paige fears the truth of why she left him will also come out. When it does, it puts their already fragile relationship back on the rocks, but these two were meant to be together.
Had a lot of elements in the storyline that I loved to read...however I never "felt" this couple at all. Bottomline is I found the premise of their rekindled romance as "far-fetched. She came back to town after a decade, she is pregnant with another man's child, and he wants to pick up where they left off. I was constantly left wondering how such a pushover ever became sheriff. The mystery concerning Reed's dad intrigued me and kept me reading this book. However I found that after that reveal...that it was much too fast paced from that point...honesty and forgiveness was just too easy to come by on all ends. All in all it was an okay book. I'm not sure if I'll ever read it again, but I would be interested in seeing what else the author has to offer.

It was a sweet book and I love the fact the hero was man enough to be a father to an unborn baby which isn't even his biologically. It was all sorts of romantic and beautiful. I enjoy reading books similar to these, they always give me a good light feeling!
This is one of the loveliest books I have ever read. Kept me hooked from the start. A wonderful love story that develops throughout. Recommend this highly to anyone.
