A book of short stories written in verse from a child's perspective that can be read and enjoyed by young and old alike. "Marta Moran Bishop is stunningly talented. This wonderful book is not only cha rming, but it holds a bit of magic on each page ... the kind of magic of days gone by. It's the perfect gift for anyone who grew up with a rich imagination. I believe this collection of poems should be cherished and placed on a shelf with other works that evoke the spirit of childhood wonders. Marta Moran Bishop is stunningly talented. Highly recommended!
If you have a baby shower to go to, or a young person with a birthday......this is the perfect gift. Marta is the keeper of childhood memories--and each one has been lovingly tended through the years and presented in verse that the young and the old will smile at. Beautiful
I have fond memories of reading wonderful books to our children when they were young. To see their curiosity and excitement build with the turning of each page was a joyous time which I will always cherish.
Wee Three is an absolute treasure trove of beautifully written short stories in verse. Allowing the reader and/or listener to escape today’s fast paced world. Author, Marta Moran Bishop magically takes us back to a quieter, peaceful, and happy world filled with the simple beauty of life. This glorious compilation of short stories creates magic and wonder on each page.
I strongly recommend this lovingly crafted book for the young, and young at heart----pure reading enjoyment.
Hmm Since it is a written by my grandmother Helen Springer Moran and myself Marta Moran Bishop I am probably very biased. I love it, the chance to return to one's innocent childhood memories and smile and laugh with the joy of remembering your own memories. Reading the total spectrum of the childhood experience that these pages hold is precious.
Reading Wee Three by Marta Moran-Bishop took me back to my early childhood in the early 1960s, much of it before my family had a TV. Each piece is its own delightful gem. The melodically rhyming verses, wonderfully illustrated by Hazel Mitchell, capture the curiosity that small children have for their own little universe, as they wonder about nature, pets and, most of all, the behavior of grown-ups. In “Bird Tracks Upon the Snow,” a child figures out why bird tracks in the snow suddenly stop; in “Mr. Clancy,” she wonders whether her pet turtle really likes her and, in “Cinderella Mother,” she marvels over the transformation of her mother into Cinderella as she dresses up for a night out. She also captures the world of make-believe: In “Two-Gun Dink,” a red bandana transforms a small boy into a fierce bandit and, in “Our Hideaway,” a small closet becomes the setting for all kinds of adventures involving Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Robin, knights, ladies, pirates, and maidens. There’s a prevailing sense throughout the book that these activities are a crucial part of growing up. I highly recommend this book for little kids, nostalgic baby boomers, and especially modern parents who push their kids to grow up too fast.
This a beautiful book of delightful rhythmic poetry and prose. It is a fabulous choice for a special child, but I promise the adults will love the stroll down memory lane. A precious gem of words compiled through generations of the author’s family. The love and care permeates throughout the pages.
WEE THREE is a celebration of childhood as seen through eyes we all once shared. I am particularly fond of MOTHER’S FLOWER GARDEN, CINDERELLA MOTHER, and SNOW MAGIC. The illustrations are fabulous works of sweet art. This book is definitely keepsake quality.
"Wee Three" is a charming and delightful collection of poems for children. Marta Moran-Bishop truly captures the voice and curiosity of a little child.
The detailed pen and ink illustrations by Hazel Mitchell, bring the text alive. Her lovely, delicate artwork puts me in mind of my favorite A.A. Milne books as a child. The watercolor on the front is colorful and full of sunshine.
"Wee Three" is the "Now We Are Six" of the 21st Century. I loved the poems and illustrations in this beautiful little book. My granddaughter, who is three, particularly loved "Upside Down Land". My favorites are "Lonely" and "When I'm A Lady".
This is a wonderful book to share with children and awaken their love of poetry. I highly recommend "Wee Three" for children of all ages—and adults who are children at heart.
Wee Three is a beautifully written collection of poems that managed to bring me back to my childhood, with memories of a happy, less complicated time. I've always enjoyed reading to children, and put Marta Moran Bishop's lovely collection to the test: an audience of two, one three years of age and the other, five. And though each had their favorites, the look of wonderment on their faces as they listened to every poem is the best endorsement a book could ever receive. Well done. Recommend.
A charming collection of poetry celebrating childhood’s exuberant imagination and its growing pains. I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author and agreed to give an honest review. Wee Three is a treasure trove of lyrical verse that encapsulates the whimsy and wonder of youth.
Wee Three hosts a charming array of poetry that kids will enjoy. The timeless poems include onomatopoeia and simple rhymes. They are imaginative, universal, and invite children to self-reflect on their thoughts and actions.
As someone who adores poetry and believes that getting our kiddos appreciation and love of literature and poetry started young, this book is absolutely perfect. I love it as an adult and the littles in my life enjoyed it too. I highly recommend it for not only your kids but your inner child as well.
I graciously received this book from the author through good-reads.
The stories/poems were not very complicated and could be read by multiple age groups. However, I just personally could not connect to all of them. My favorite was the 'Baby Brother' poem because it was entertaining and got to the point. It does have cute illustrations that fit along with the poems. I will read this book to my nieces and nephews in hopes that they will enjoy it more; I may just be a boring old person that can't take myself back to childhood times. Overall I just found this book ok.
